I wanted a tent for myself and my 6 year old Son to go away in, with enough space to stand up in and move around a bit.
The Rock 4 fits the bill perfectly. I'm 5'10' and can stand up in the main living area easily, and can near enough stand up straight in the bedroom.
I was aware that I'd have to put this tent up on my own, so had a test run in the back garden. I did it first time in 30 mins, I'd probably suggest using the instructions as a rough guide for the first time, as they're not worded that well in my opinion. But it is fairly self explanatory as you go along (and I'm a bit of a novice)
I also managed to get it down and back in the bag in 30 mins.
The first time I took it camping, I shaved 5 minutes off my first time (in the rain)
As others have said, feeding the poles through the sleeves is a little frustrating, and without that issue, I think I could get the tent up in 15 mins! Don't let that put you off though, it's really only a minor niggle.
Once I got the tent up, unfortunately we were subjected to a 15 hour deluge of rain, so we pretty much spent that long inside the tent.
There was not a single leak anywhere, and we were comfortable for the whole night.
We were a little short of space, as we had to keep everything inside the living area with the weather being so bad, but still enough room for us both to sit on chairs at a table.
I think I'm going to invest in the extra canopy, as it was a bit awkward getting in and out of the tent with wet shoes and all our equipment inside.
All in all, I am very happy with this tent. Especially as I managed to get it for a below normal price of £80 (due to an error on the Go Outdoors website and a complaint to their customer services dept.) and would highly recommend it.

Used this tent 3 times this year and I cant really fault it
Very easy to put up, plenty of room for two, would advise getting rock 5 for 3 or 4 people. Its stood up to very heavy rain and fairly strong winds with no problems at all.
The only slight niggles are,the poles are a bit difficult to push through and the doors could do with zip or velcro across bottom but that's it really, I can live with that.
I have noticed a few have been returned or sold as faulty,i reckon its because the inner compartment is fixed to the outer so that when it's pitched, if the centre pole guy lines are too tight it pulls on the inner compartment zips making them very difficult to close.
Highly recommended, pitch properly and look after it and you shouldn't have a problem.

We wanted a smaller tent without frills that we could put up quickly for weekend camping but with full height and enough space for 2 adults to live in comfort. We use a Corado 4 for holidays of 1 week or more. Nothing else came near to the Rock 4.
We paid £99.00 for it which was not as cheap as it had been offered at £79, but also not as expensive as it had been at £139. It is good value and of excellent quality for the price.
It took us a little while to get up, longer than I expected, as I found the carbon fibre poles metal ends snagging against either the brass eyelets on the sleeve, or snagging on the final seam of the sleeve where it had been turned over, when pushing the poles through the sleeve. Next season I intend finding a spray on silicone to see if this will help the poles slide through the sleeve easier.
It has excellent headroom and lounge area height clearing my 5'10” easily. The bedroom can be separated into two, although we keep it as one large bedroom. We also liked the colour of this tent, a change from our larger green Corado 4. We bought also a large picnic rug which we use as a carpet in the bedroom which finishes the bedroom area nicely and gives us with the footprint 4 layers from bedroom floor to ground.
The double guying system gives a feeling of strength and rigidity and makes you feel confident that it will stand up to adverse weather conditions. I also like the adjustment in the straps at the base of the poles which gives tension and rigidity to the lounge floor space. But they are on one side only, and usually on both sides of larger tents.
The electric cable access point into the tent can be closed around the cable with a zip, helping to keep bugs or the elements out. We have the lounge area carpet which adds a bit of luxury and feels great underfoot, but strangely enough it does not fit wall to wall unlike the Corado 4, but it is warm when the weather is cold and cool when the weather is hot.
It is a little short on windows, but the side door opening is a great bonus in warmer weather and can be supported open with poles not supplied with the tent. The small vents on each front window gives fresh air and helps reduce condensation.
We have bought the add on canopy and this gives us great outdoor space for cooking, or relaxing in the evening.
It packs away quite easily when folded and then rolled, and packs away in 1 bag.
This tent is excellent value for money for a small tent with full head height. I have replaced the standard guy line adjusters for glow in the dark line-lok adjusters and I use glow in the dark 20cm pegs just for safety reasons in the dark, my preference not a fault with the tent.

After years of insisting my fear of 'creepy crawlies' would stop me enjoying a holiday in a tent, my partner and I decided to give camping a try as a way of exploring Britain without the expensive hotels. I went for the Rock 4 as it has a completely sewn in ground sheet, as opposed to to a lot of tents where only the bedroom compartment is sewn in. Also I wanted a tent with space, where I could move around and sit/stand in the living area rather than just being able to crawl in and crawl out of a small space. Indeed on purchase the rock 4 seemed to tick all the boxes. We took it out for its first run on the bank holiday weekend and we weren't disappointed.
We managed to get it up and pegged down in about 30 minutes and I'm confident we'll be quicker next time. Both the bedroom compartments and the living area are very roomy. Plenty of space for two or three but I think four adults would be pushing it for comfort.
It rained constantly on the second day and night, but the tent held up very well and there were no leaks
Would recommend this tent to any starter. Fingers crossed it will last many camping trips to come.

I do have a bigger Royal Atlanta 8 tent but thought this would be great for the wife and I to go away for weekends. I saw it in Go Outdoors when they had it on a special deal for only £79! At that price I thought why not, although I did have reservations and thought it might be a little too cheap and very nasty. Not nasty at all as it turns out with some nice touches as well!
The instructions are sewn into the bag and are not great but it went up easy enough. The doors don't zip across the bottom but there are toggles on the drop down front sewn in ground sheet which hold the bottom of the door down and also the elasticated loops on each corner for pegging down as well.
There is plenty of room for a couple of chairs and small table in the living area, but you can't really cook in here, but the front sun canopy can be used easily to cook under. The bedroom also has a PROPER partition which is zipped into place all the way round not those pointless thin bits of material that just toggle into position. Another nice feature on the bedroom doors is the mesh panel in the top which is covered by a panel on the inside of the bedroom which just unzips. A nice feature to have so that the doors can remain closed but air can circulate with the panel open but the mesh preventing the insects from coming in.
It's a shame that it doesn't come with the front door canopy poles or guy lines, but I just bought the Vango 180cm king pole set for I think it was about £8 and as can be seen in my photos it all works really well, the poles also fit in the tent bag! The front vents above the small triangle windows don't have the foam arm that comes down to hold them open but there is foam in the vent cover which does seem to hold it open quite well.
It has now been weathered in and there have been no leaks, but the inside roof was quite wet with condensation so trying to leave the vents open would be a good idea to try and get some more air flow. All in all very impressed with this tent for the price, it really is very good.
I also bought the matching footprint and carpet which all come in nice carry bags. The carpet even comes with a small matching door mat! The footprint also comes with pegs with tops that lay flat so the tent can be pitched over the top with no problems, a really nice idea for which I was very surprised at for this price range.
The only issue I've found is that on the bag for the footprint it gives the size of 400cm x 240cm which it actually is as I double checked the measurement. The layout plan of the tent gives the tent dimensions as 460cm x 260cm. When I put the tent up it did seem that the footprint was too small, but not by as much as the measurements suggest. The only way to check this is by going back to Go Outdoors and taking a footprint out of the bag and actually measuring it to see if they do actually have one that matches the size of the tent. To be fair there really isn't too much in it and I'm quite happy with everything as it is.
For a decent sized tent that you can stand up in get a footprint and carpet for less than £150 it was a cracking deal. A bit more expensive now but still great value in my opinion.

Used this tent for the first time in may 2012. Very easy and quick to put up.Built in grown sheet was a great bonus. Bedrooms can take 2 pop up camp beds with good space between. 4 blow up beds would be a squeeze. Bought a awning at same time which took all cooking gear out of the tent which gave more living space. This is a great tent for anyone how wants to dip there toes into camping. Go ahead you will have fun.

I simply cannot fault this tent. As a single parent I have camped with my son for the last 8 years. We used to have a good old sunncamp canvas tent and when that was on its last legs have had a number of mediocre tents.
I bought this as the tent is in one so pitching took myself and my 12 year old son 15 minutes first time (on a windy hill in Robin Hoods Bay)
The bedrooms take 2 double airbeds, just. The living area is big enough for 2 chairs and a table. You could possible fit 4 people at a squeeze but for the 2 of us it was perfect.
The groundsheet is sewn in and kept all the rain out. We had heavy rain and very strong winds and not one leak. The outer is very noisy in the wind but I can live with that.
Packing away was as simple as putting it up.
BRILLIANT tent!

Manufacturer's Description
A spacious family 4 person tent with a large bedroom and porch, ideal for small families and getaways.
4 Berth Family Tent All in one pitching style Taped seams - no leaks
The Hi Gear Rock 4 is a flexible family tent for smaller families or couples looking for extra room. The tent and bedroom are separate parts that are permanently attached by a mesh panel, so you get the reduced condensation of a double-skin design without the hassle of fitting the inners every time you pitch. The sewn in groundsheet keeps drafts and insects out as well as protecting from wet ground.
The bedroom can be divided in 2 with a central curtain, and the tall windows in the front allow lots of light into the living area. The doors to the front and side can be converted to awnings with awning poles (sold separately).
A great tent for first time campers or those who want a simple and roomy tent for weekends away.
