We are newish to camping, this is the first tent we have owned and then put up. And it is excellent value for money,we had two nights of VERY high winds in Cornwall (April 2012) we felt safe ! very safe, its a well made roomy little tent and I am so glad we purchased it.

We have the footprint and front extension, all great value for money.

I brought a Virginia 5 after needing to downsize, I have just got back from a VERY wet Jubilee weekend and was amazed at the tent! It rained for over 24 hours and we did not have ANY problems what so ever, I just need to try & find a zip up porch now as the only downside was having to walk in the tent backwards after taking wellies off outside, I have been informed that Outwell have stopped making this tent now though so contacted Outwell directly to see if they can help with a porch. Great tent and totally recommended! *****

All the other reviews echo what I could say about this tent, I think all manufacturers have some sort of conservative measuring device for berths, but in the real world this doesn't apply. Comfy sleeping for three, don't forget you have your clothes and stuff too! in the bedroom.

There wouldnt be much room for 5 to sit in the front area in bad weather too.

I have the front extension which makes it perfect, although some of the extension space is wasted due to the angle of the front of the tent, but thats physics for you.

Easy to put up and down on your own, I just had a week in St Davids, perfect.

Don't leave chocolate in the tent when its sunny, it melts!

Having read previous reviews we purchased this tent this year. It is absolutely ideal for us as there is just the two of us. Not so sure it would really suit 5 people unless it was 2 adults and children. Love the living area and windows. The mesh 'insect net' is perfect. One of the evenings we had a thunderstorm and the 'heavens opened' the tent stood its ground with perfection and not one single drop of rain inside. Would totally recommend this tent. The only thing that spoils it is trying to get the extension is a 'task' as they seem to have stopped making this tent. I really don't know why as it is fab.

A brilliant tent.I bought this tent when it 1st came on the market. Didn't really know what I was looking for re size, practicality etc. As I normally go camping with just me and the dog so I went to one of the Yeomans campshows.

I looked at a few in my price range and the Outwell Virginia 5 came up trumps. It seemed to have those little extra touches curtains for all the windows, small canopy area over side door, amount of light hangers, electric cable holders conveniently placed and the amount of pockets for storage of car keys, anti bac wipes etc. Also the pegs are a strong plastic so they don't bend on hitting a stone.

It is quite easy to pitch with 1 person and I do recommend the carpet for it, as for the front canopy I bought the Vango version and although different colours it does look quite cool.

I've now used it for 3 seasons and its been thru rain, sun, frost but as yet not snow and it is still as strong as when I bought it. I like to wash the inner tent each season which keeps it looking new.

Just bought this tent a few weeks ago and have been to sunny cheddar and rainy Derbyshire in it so far. Away again in 2 days! had very windy/rainy weather in Derbyshire, withstood all that was thrown at it with minimal condensation (we kept all the vents open as it was still quite warm). As a couple we found the larger sleeping area perfect for our air beds and used the other room as a dressing room/storage area - with all the windows it was great for privacy! plenty of space in the front in bad weather, handy centre pockets for all the junk! also is under 5m long so avoid the extra cost at some sites for bigger tents. Would advise the footprint - we purchased a tarpaulin in the same dimensions and it worked really well and only cost £10.

We purchased this tent from Yeomans Outdoors for the weekends but struggled to find a footprint and carpet as they were out stock. We found the footprint for the Outwell Wyoming 4 / Outwell Minnesota 4 fits perfectly. The carpet we use is from the Carolina M put length ways (no cut-out for the bedroom clip to the floor) but it still works fine.

We bought this tent last week and its the best £150 we've spent.

We had a test camp in it this weekend and we were tested to the maximum. It rained pretty much all weekend and particularly heavy on Saturday with strong winds.

The tent stood up to it all, no leaks, no drafts and minimal condensation.

The sleeping area is a really good size, we slept in the '3 man' side and stored all our stuff in the '2 man' side, and we were very comfortable and cosy. The pockets in the sleeping area are really handy for all the nick nacks as are the 10 or so pockets that hang between the two areas on the outside. We kept the divider sheet down but we could roll it up to give us even more room.

The living area is a great size, we kept our 2 chairs up and our table and still had plenty of room to move around. The large side window is great, lets lots of light in and when you open all the toggle up curtains it really is very bright and spacious.

We only used the side door with the rain safe canopy as it was so wet but the front door is nice and big and we have king poles to put the door up as a canopy if and when we need to.

The only thing I would say, and its not a bad thing in any way, is that I think you would struggle with 5 people in it, its more a 4 man in my eyes. But there are only 2 of us so for us its perfect, lots of space.

I managed to pitch this tent on my own in about 30 minutes, very easy to do, and I'm sure I'll get quicker but when we both do it, I reckon it'll take about 20 minutes max. The taking down was quick and easy and the oversized bag does make a huge difference, no more wrestling with tiny bags and bursting zips!

All in all this is our ideal tent and I cant wait to go away again, I would recommend this tent to anyone.

Bought this tent at the end of last year's season and only camped in it recently. I bought a Coleman Galileo 5 front extension for it as I couldn't get the original one for it and it fits perfectly, really pleased. No rain so I cannot comment there but so far very happy. I preferred the Galileo extension as the windows seemed bigger than the Icarus extension. It cost about £119 so not sure how this compares to the Icarus.

I had wanted an Outwell since seeing a couple of friends had them. But we've always thought they were a bit too big.

Our needs are simple - a sleeping area that is big enough so you can both get up without crawling over the other in the middle of the night, a side door to make it easy to perform the function you got up for, and an area you can sit in when it rains.

As keen windsurfers it needs to stand up to a breeze too.

This tent fulfils all these needs brilliantly and it is a doddle to put up. A real one person operation (as long as you leave all the doors open.

Just got back from whitstable yesterday, already got the bank holiday booked in Wales and looking for a few days away in it inbetween.
