Bought this tent because of size of bed room and living area you can stand up in both, and still have enough room for all camping equipment. The back window is great for ventilation. Have just got back from a weeks camping, when it rained for the whole week with thunder and high winds but the tent felt very stable and had no leaks. 10 out of 10. Easy to put up and with the bath tub ground sheet you have best of both worlds

We've just used our Gelert Ottowa 4 berth for the second time and have found it t be a fantastic purchase! First time we used this tent we had 4 days of extremely hot weather and the 2 mesh side doors and mesh back window in the bedroom were a godsend! They kept the insects out while maintaining a nice breeze throughout the tent so it didn't become overheated or stuffy.
This weekend, the second time we've used it was in totally different weather. During the day it was warm again but a little windy. We were expecting some heavy rain fall during the day but luckily this didn't arrive until after 10pm and when it arrived did we know about it! The rain was torrential and we also had some very strong winds but all the time our tent stood up and kept us warm and dry. The only water we found inside the tent was from our umbrellas/wellingtons after we'd made a couple of trips during the night to the loos! We were really impressed with our tent and after seeing a few other reviews, we were expecting some leakages around the zip/seam areas but none appeared so we were very happy overall.
I would recommend this tent for new campers as it's easy to erect and after a couple of goes we've got it down to 20minutes. Can't complain really, glad we deliberated and decided on this one for it's 'airiness'.

We bought this tent a couple of weeks back and got to use it for the first time last weekend. The design is great: reasonably spacious, quite sturdy with the cross over poles and well ventilated. The packed size and weight are also great, as is the price (£95 from Leisure shack).
However, all the above comments about leaks are not wrong! A couple of hours of heavy rain on the first evening, and the tent was getting wet inside from all the same points mentioned above - window ties and bedroom clip up points. Basically, the build quality is just very poor. So even though the flysheet is fully taped, the tape isn't sealed properly around the ties and other bits and pieces - hence the leaks.
On top of this, the ground sheet in the bedroom was obviously snagged up while it was being stitched, so there are really bad tension points around these areas. So, fresh out of the bag you could already see small tears starting to appear. I'm not saying this is going to be a standard problem, but it is very indicative of the general build quality of these tents.
So, the conclusion for me is that I'm actually glad about the groundsheet fault: it gives me the justification to send the whole tent back and choose something from a different manufacture. I would never touch Gelert again. What the alternative is going to be though is a whole other question.

I had an Ottawa 4 last year. It stood up to some fairly bad weather in Wales but did have some issues with leaking in the living area. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst, with some very, very high winds which snapped a pole and caused some ripping. Until this point it had done quite well.
It also had some lovely features for a tent of this size and the mesh doors are great. Not often you see them on a tent this size.
I replaced my Ottawa for another tent as I wasn't prepared to pay £150 again, and the rips were pretty bad. I think mine was due more to bad luck. I'd still say this is a good tent for its class with decent features.

We used our Ottawa for the firt time this weekend and thought it was great. Sunshine all the time and light winds so we will have to see if it is still 10 out of ten after some wet and windy weather. We also had an vango large canopy which we were pleased with and seemed to fit quiet well

I bought this tent specifically for a party of three on a safari/camping tour in Namibia. I looked at a lot of tents as I specifically required excellent ventilation (because of the heat),insect protection, standing room (so not struggling to get dressed etc for two weeks), lightweight (as flying) and easy pitching (because moving camp every day). This was the only tent I found that met these requirements.
The tent performed well in the field. Pitching is easy once the trick of having somebody lift the poles at the crossover point when erecting the tent is learnt.
The only downsides are that the one zip pull broke on the very last day and there isn't insect protection on the rear window (although we didn't ever open this as there was fantastic ventilation with the mesh side doors and inside mesh door).
Very recommendable tent for a warm/hot safari.

We've bought this tent as a smaller weekend/ short break tent for when it's just me and the OH. It's a great size for use as a two person tent. Both the bedroom and the living area are high enough to stand up in and both have plenty of room. There was more than enough room in the living area for two chairs a table and our kitchen area. I could even lounge about on the floor fully lay down while I read my book. Both side doors can be fully opened of left with just a mesh liner in place which was excellent on the really hot day we had. There a little organiser on the outer cover of the bedroom to place bits and pieces in which is useful.
The living area has a well fitted bath tub groundsheet which combined with the outer tent skirt work really well to stop draughts and the outside elements to get in the tent. The bedroom has a window so that you can keep it well ventilated and allow a little sunlight in if you wanna have a chill out and lie down.
It goes up relatively easily if you have one person hold it up in the centre whilst the other places the poles in position. It seemed quite sturdy and withheld some strong winds with no problems to it's integral structure.
The only downside were a number of leaks that were evident after the first test it had in the rain with puddles forming from the window ties and a few leaks from the toggle holders which the bedroom attaches to. To be fair it was raining very heavily and with some force. But I've never had tents leak in this way before hence why it's only scored 6.
If not for the rain it would've been a 8 possibly a 9 as it's a great little(ish) tent for what we need it for. And at £99 ( also seen it for £86 on the internet) seems a good value tent for it's size
