Bought this for £79.99 in Go Outdoors sale. Was originally looking at a Vango Icarus 500, but both were pitched next to each other on display at Go Outdoors. The Caplan 5 just seemed more sturdy, more roomy and had better waterproofing all round than the Vango.
Used it for the first time at Manorbier in West Wales 2 weekends ago, weather was absolutely boiling so hasn't had a test of the elements yet! I'd already pitched this in the garden before use and it took 50 mins on my own, only took me 25 mins at the campsite. Chose to do it on my own as couldn't see my 7 and 10 yr olds helping much. Not hard to put up at all, follow the instructions on the bag and it's that simple. Guy lines, albeit a little messy and plentiful, are very strong, but no test of wind during our 3 days.
Inner tent hooks on the flysheet via elastic and toggles and was lovely and warm at night. The living area as you'd expect was cold in the morning but soon warmed up. Condensation formed as usual in the living area but a quick wipe and not a problem. Disappointing that velcro seals are not on the bottom of both doors, this would have made a nice addition, but easily rectified.
Overall, a very good tent, easy to take down and pack away in 15 mins. Wouldn't recommend for the whole 5 people as you'd struggle for space with all your equipment, but great for a weekend away for 3 or 4.

We are new to camping and bought this tent whilst on special offer at Go Outdoors. Went for a long weekend and pitched in wet and quite windy conditions and took us about 45 minutes (not bad for beginners!). Tent kept us dry and gave the two of us plenty of room to sleep, store our belongings and have a living/cooking area. Only downside we can say is that the side door could have benefited from some velcro to keep out draughts.
Overall an excellent buy and would recommend this tent.

We bought one from Go Outdoors (it's their own brand I think) for £79.99 as on special offer. It is a 5 berth tent and at a push 5 could bed down in the sleeping area but we bought it for weekend use with 2 and the dog. Tent worked well in very windy conditions (well over 30mph at times) and survived some heavy rain showers. Plenty of sleeping and living room for us. Zipps for EHU on both sides of the tent and velcro loops for electric light flex were very welcome. Disappointing that there aren't built in ties for guys considering the complexity of the guys at the pole points. Velcro fastenings for the bottom of the side window and side door would have been very welcome. Overall the finish is of a lower quality than say an Outwell tent. Easy to pitch or take down with 2 in under 30 minutes. Overall a very good tent that could be a great tent with a few minor modifications.

I have just bought the Caplan 5. Cannot wait to use it. Will put it up in the garden and give you a review of the ease of it? Give one thing for it, it seems quiet heavy to carry, so you wouldn't want to travel to far with the Caplan 5, or, without the car.I got it at a special price and it did look good in the store. The floor space is enough for my two chairs and a table with the cooker. Handy if the British weather lets you down.

Manufacturer's Description
The Hi Gear Caplan 5 Tent is a brand new tent, available exclusively from Go Outdoors, which has all the space and convenience you need for a group camping holiday.
It's pitched outer-first to keep things simple, and has a breathable inner to keep you comfortable in the summer heat.
The outer flysheet, with taped seams, is easily waterproof enough to handle heavy downpours, while front and side entrances let you block the wind and rain from getting in. The fully sewn-in groundsheet makes it easy for you to keep a clear, clean space for you and your gear, and keeps water, draughts and bugs out of your tent. For extra stability, the tent uses Hi Gear's revolutionary pole bracing system, so it will pitch anywhere and withstand strong winds.
