Go Outdoors have sold us a 2010 model Corado 8 tent when we purchased it in 2012 and we expected to receive a 2011 model as you would if you bought anything new. The problem with the 2010 model is that the front door does not zip up all the way around and leaves a big gap at the bottom, but the 2011 model zips all the way around the door which would stop our dog and children escaping in the middle of the night (saving us the problem of having to be running around the campsite to find them). Go Outdoors are now saying that once a tent has been pitched they will not exchange it even if there is a fault! We have argued this with Go Outdoors and they are now going to speak to their head office on Monday and see what they say. Surely you cannot find any faults with a tent unless you pitch them. The other problem with this tent was that one of the children fell over the sewn in groundsheet at the front door whilst trying to escape and the elastic/toggle has ripped off (I really don't think they are strong enough). I would only recommend you buy this tent if you get the 2011 model because this tent would then be fantastic!

Absolutely love this tent only downside is the front door which blows quite a draft through it but we have now resolved that after trying velcro this didn't work we have now applied press studs which work a treat and now the draft is kept at bay, the space is brilliant and usually in the bad weather everyone ends up in our tent which so far has fitted in the living space without a problem 6 adults and 8 children with one of them in a pram overall I would recommend this tent for anyone looking on luxury camping to BUY it!

WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS TENT IF YOU ARE SHY. Because almost EVERYONE will want to come and have a look at your *ahem* massive erection! This tent is HUGE. No stooping over - clever material design means during the day - you can stand in your inner tent to get changed and see out but no one can see you AT ALL.

We bought this for our 2 sons to grow into - they are only 3 and 6 yrs right now. I got bored of our loved dome tent as I could only stand in the centre and after a week of rain I was pretty. Miffed. So needed to upgrade.

HiGear don't seem to have a very good reputation - but lets get one thing straight. They have done an AMAZING job on the design features and made this almost 100% perfect tent - I marked it down to 9 out of 10 because there are a few TINY niggles (relating to over-ventilation around the whole tent) that they may have changed in 2012 but overall 100% VFM! the niggles will be sorted by me instead!

I would recommend ANYONE (if there's 2 people to put it up) to buy this amazing VFM family tent.Without hesitation. The BEST tent we have ever owned (and we've had some 'decent gear' in the past)!

Buy one!

The corado 8 is fantastic,we had problems with the first one with the elastic snapping but took it back to go outdoors they exchanged it for another ,we found the bedrooms to be loser which solved the problem, the space is fantastic, we had really strong winds when we was camping and morning after other campers come over to ask where we bought the tent and said it was the only tent around us that hardly moved, and yes there is a draft at the bottom of our front door which is easy solved with velcro which stops that, over all 10 out of 10 for stability and space, love it,or by the way we waited for the sale at go outdoors and got the tent, carpet and foot print for 400.00 so its worth wait for the sales

I bought this tent as an early Christmas present for my son and his family on easter Saturday (2012) as we were going camping at Billing Aquadrome. Their own tent did not have an integral sewn in ground sheet. As they have two very young children we (my wife and me) decided that they needed a draught free environment. The tent is huge, easy to erect. Once it was pegged out it wasa solid structure. During our stay we had a heavy storm overnight and next day there was not one leak, in all truth I did expect the tent to leak due to the strength and duration of the storm. This tent is outstanding, Brilliant value for money, In fact when I need to renew my own tent I will purchase one of these for my own use.

We picked ours up in the Boxing day sale ay Go Outdoors, we got the footprint and carpet in with the deal, both of which are a good buy.

The tent is huge, so far we have been for a long weekend at the south coast and the weather was great so no idea about the waterproof ability but we love it. 2 adults and 2 small children with plenty of room to spare. The kids wanted to share a room and we used one for all the clothes and had the last one empty. Ours is the 2010 model with the gap at the bottom of the front door but as it's our first sewn in tent it seemed pretty draught proof to us. Easy to put up, I did most myself while wifey kept an eye on the kids, only needing a hand to upright the poles, it took about 50 min to put up, nice and easy. We're planning on a trip to the lakes in a few weeks so we'll see how we get on that time but for now it all looks good.

Fantastic tent. Big and spacious with lots of windows. Had 6 adults, 1 child and 1 large boxer dog in it one one rainy evening and still plenty of room.

Big bedrooms, plenty of room. We only have 3 of them up as only 2 adults, 1 child and the other as a walk in wardrobe and bedroom for the dog! Gives you loads of living space.

Been camping loads this summer as it really is home from home! They have sorted out the problems of the front door from last years model as it is a fully zipped door so no drafts and keeps the dog in.

Only issue is a big panel at the back which is an air vent if you peg the tent out using all the guy ropes, it makes it wide open and cold at night. Only realised after our 2nd trip so no longer peg it all out, just let it hang down. Think will need to invest in some velcro to tape it down when its windy!

Overall though would highly recommend buying one of these.

For the price this is a high spec, enormous and well built tent. We first used this tent at Easter and I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy it was. We had problems with the door as mentioned in previous reviews. Additionally we found we had been supplied with the wrong bedrooms and also the fittings were not strong and one broke.

Go outdoors exchanged for a new tent and I was hoping all would be well and was expecting that being the newer model there would be no more problems with the door. Well, my partner never even got to put the tent up.He arrived in Cornwall with his children and without me as I had to work - only to find this time he had been supplied with two sets of side poles and no curved roof poles. Phone calls to Go Outdoors revealed that this was the case with the entire batch - so please if you have bought one of these do check the bag contents thoroughly before setting out on your holiday!

Full marks to Go Outdoors who sent someone all the way from Exeter with a Vango Maritsa 700 by way of exchange and to Seaview International Campsite near Mevagissey who gave the family use of a chalet to shelter from the rain whilst they were waiting.

We have had issues with other Hi Gear products lately and personally I will not be buying their products again. Vango and Outwell products may cost more but I have had no troubles with either brand in the past.

I bought this tent on offer along with the footprint and carpet and cannot rate it highly enough. It is amazing and a lovely home from home and even at the full price it is worth every penny. It is spacious, light and everything worked perfectly. With the new fully sewn in groundsheet and fully zipped in doors we kept our dogs firmly inside with no chance of escape! The 4 double pods are lovely and spacious and the space at the rear is an excellent storage and dressing area.

Sitting in the evening, with the huge windows we could sit inside keeping dogs under control, admire the fields and trees on our comfy hi gear chairs. I am looking forward to my next camping trip in August and just sad I don't have time before then! I think I prefer this tent to my home!

We bought this tent this year when it was on offer at Go Outdoors, what a tent. It's huge! Amazing amount of space inside, really easy to put up in about 40mins. We are 2 adults and 2 children so only use 3 of bedrooms, removing the 4th gives us a huge area at the back of the tent as dressing and storage area.

I'm guessing the design has been updated as ours now seals completely at the front with a zip that goes right around the bottom of the front door making the tent nicely sealed away from the wind.

The tent is big and almost fills the boot, but its worth it. If you like a lot of space when camping then this is the tent for you. We even had enough room inside to set up a projector and screen and turned the front section into home movie theatre!

This is an awesome tent, I can't recommend it enough.

Manufacturer's Description

The Hi Gear Corado 8 is a large 8 person family tent that offers a great combination of space and practicality.

The door canopy offers the facility to cook inside or out without damaging the groundsheet, and the choice of entrances allows you to choose your layout of tent furniture to suit your camp, and to ventilate the tent fully if it overheats or fills with barbecue smoke.

The internal standing height allows the freedom of movement and the feeling of space.

The 3000m hydrostatic head waterproofing ensures a dry, reliable retreat in troublesome weather while the sewn in ground sheet stops the wet dew in the morning.

To give you and your fellow campers even more space and luxury, it's possible to extend the tent using the Hi Gear Corado 8 canopy.

Ideal for family holidays, the Corado is perfect for getting away from it all.
