This is a fab tent, easy to put up with two, after few times we could do it in 20min. I can even put it up on my own. With 3 kids nagging.

Would recommend the porch it gives fab cooking area and storage.

Only down side was when wet 9most of last year) and you open tent door water drips in, but upside get the porch and that stoped it

We have just pitched our Voyager 6 for the first time and are so pleased with it. It took us an hour to pitch and put the bedroom pods up as well. My Hubby has never pitched a tent before so I am really pleased with the time and am sure we will get this down now we know what we are doing. It took 10 minutes to take down and get back into the bag. We left the bedroom pods in, meaning the tent was fatter when folded but it still went in OK. The instructions are really easy to follow and the poles are colour coded to each sleeve.

The tent is a fantastic size for the three of us and the dog, with lots of room in the living room area for us to spread out. The bedrooms are a great size and although I haven't tested it I'm sure two double airbeds will go in the large bedroom.

I am also really happy with the £175 we paid and feel we got great value for money. The tent does get reduced more over the year but we wanted to be ready to go out as soon as the weather is a bit better.

All we need now is the carpet to make the tent cosier and we're ready for action.

I would definitely recommend the Voyager 6 as a first tent for a small family and we can't wait to spend our first weekend away in it.

Fantastic spacious tent, whole family love it! Only downsides are, rain comes in when opening front door in wet weather, No matter how we peg it out always get ridge along fitted groundsheet near front of tent. Think porch too expensive for us and judging by reviews doesn't fit too well. Very easy to put up/peg out, stands up to high winds pretty well, not planning on changing it any time soon.

Love our hi-gear tent but it is very heavy and takes 2 to load and unload from the car and we have had to add lots of extra Velcro to windows and doors to prevent flapping up. Saying this it is excellent value for money and so spacious. If you choose to buy this tent buy a long electric cord as it only has one side entrance for the cord.

Our first ever tent we bought & it's turned out to be absolute bargain [on offer from go outdoors] this year 2012. We went to look at the Rock 4 but when my partner & me saw the Voyager 6 there was no changing our minds. We've been camping 3 times so far. We had wind, rain & the tent stood up to it both & dried off quickly. No leaks & reasonably warm especially in the bedroom when zipped up. As others have said when opening zip on doors after rain you do get wet dripping in a bit.

It's easy to erect with colour coded bars & tent edging it took around 45 mins first time and about 30 mins after that & that's getting our stuff inside. As my partner carries on pegging & I unpack.

The large 4 person bedroom is a good size with the centre divide rolled up it allows for a god sized double airbed with room to get around it. Although it's not full head height around the edges of the bedroom, it still doesn't feel cramped.

The smaller second bedroom we take down & use the space for the bags/boxes, our clothes & dressing area.

Having both the doors able to become sun canopies is good, we had a set of poles in with porch poles, so only have to buy a 2nd set if we need to. The tent is very well ventilated with lots of space to move around in the good sized living area before adding a porch & with the porch on you have lots of extra space. It's surprising how much you need to take even though it's only the 2 of us. Having the porch on keeps the chill out a bit more on those colder nights.

The first time we went we had no carpet, so was quite chilly under foot. The last time we went we bought the carpet & you could feel the difference straight away.

I would definitely recommend this tent to family, friends & to anyone wanting a spacious, reasonably luxurious camping set-up at a reasonable price. Good value for money, but keep a look out for Go Outdoors sales offers. We had a great bargain with ours as got the tent & porch together in their sale.

After looking at entry level tents for some time, we bought the Voyager 6 with the footprint and carpet for 2 of us. Previous experience of mobile living has been old canvas bell tents and touring caravans some time back, and more recently a small modern 2 berth tent for my solo motor racing trips across Europe. As 'She who shall be obeyed' wanted to try a bit of UK camping instead of (actually, as well as) 5 star hotels in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, it was clear that the little 2 berth would not cut it.

So, the decision criteria for a new tent was:

1) Semi-Geodesic structure

2) Hydrostatic head of 3000+

3) Full headroom

4) Good sized living area before adding a porch

5) A large bedroom

6) Value for Money

7) Good quantity of positive independent reviews

The Voyager 6 met all the decision criteria, and also fitted on a standard pitch size, which some others we considered did not.

Pitching with the footprint is a doddle even for newbies like us. Simply peg out the footprint, put the tent on top and away you go. With 5 colour coded poles, and good instructions sewn into the bag, first time up, we had shelter in about 20 minutes, and it was fully pegged out with the carpet (really worth it for added underfoot luxury and warmth) and all our gear inside in less than an hour.

In use, this full height tent is airy in hot weather, having 2 doors with flysheets and numerous vents. The door flyscreens are really useful for providing good ventilation in hot weather whilst keeping the mozzies out. Window blinds on 4 good sized windows are useful to keep the sun out / let the light in depending on your disposition.

In moderate wet weather with light winds, the tent has not leaked at all so far. We have no experience of extreme conditions with this tent, but given the semi-geodesic construction, tons of pegging points and guy ropes, I would not expect too many issues until it really blows a hoolie.

We have had no condensation inside the tent with two of us in it overnight (1st week of September, so some hot/cold changes), and 8 adults for a few colder after BBQ / pub hours before disappearing back to their tents in the small hours.

The doors are well documented to drip rain inside when opened, but the zips were solid and watertight in rain. Giving the doors a good shake before fully opening them in wet weather stops the majority of drips from entering the tent.

The big 4 person bedroom, with the centre divide rolled up allows for a decent sized double airbed with room to get around it. Although not full head height throughout the entire bedroom, it does not feel cramped.

The pockets on the front of the main bedroom are useful for holding things likely to be needed quickly, such as keys, torches, first-aid, batteries etc. We leave the little bedroom in the bag, and use the space it would take for cupboards and storage.

With clutter disappearing where the second bedroom would be, it leaves the entire front area clear for entertaining. The living area was big enough for 8 people to sit around tables playing cards, drinking and nattering late at night.

Taking the tent down is the simple reversal of putting it up, very easy indeed. We leave the bedroom up, and with careful folding and expelling the air whilst rolling it up towards the open main door, it all fits back in the bag reasonably easily. Having said that, we leave the poles out of the main bag as we find two lighter bags better than one heavy bag when getting it into storage at home.

The footprint means that the whole groundsheet / tent unit is clean and ready to bag as you drop it. A flat footprint is easier to clean on one side than a cumbersome sewn-in tent groundsheet, and well worth the small investment.

It looks like with careful use and maintenance, the Voyager 6 could last some time, but at Go Outdoors 'proper sale' prices of less than £150 to replace the tent (on the right sale weekend of course) it's not a huge deal if the tent does have a problem after a couple of seasons.

I would think twice if they ever thought of charging the. Erm. 'RRP' of £400 as there are far better quality tents with higher H/H out there for that kind of money.

We did not buy the Voyager 6 porch. It is massive, going on the long axis of the tent, possibly putting you on a bigger, more expensive pitch on many sites if the owners get picky. I also felt it was very expensive in comparison to the tent (unless you can wait and find a 50% week at Go Outdoors) at £120 RRP and frequently on the shelf at that price or close to it. Although we have no direct experience of it, our research shows that it does not receive the rave reviews the tent does, and frankly the only advantages seem to be a little protection to the front door in bad weather, and somewhere to cook. There is more than enough room in the main tent, so that is probably one unnecessary item that we will not buy. Our view is, if it rains and we can't cook outside, we'll buy cooked food in or eat out.

Overall, we are very happy with the Voyager 6 tent, footprint and carpet as inexperienced campers, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a spacious, reasonably luxurious camping set-up at a reasonable price. We can't wait to get away with it again.

We love our new Voyager 6.

It was easy to put up in the garden to try it out, and easy to take down.

The tent is bright and spacious, the sleeping area is big, although its a 6 berth, it will be just the 3 of us camping so loads of space for clothes etc.

The tent looks good when pitched and has a hook on the ceiling to hang a light, along with cable tidys and EHU entry points. There is loads of head height, I can only just touch the top!

The living area is big enough to have a table and chairs setup and space for our son to play if/when it rains.

Can't wait to take it to france for a foreign family holiday!

We couldn't get the carpet when we purchased but are defiantly going to order one.

We purchased this tent from go outdoors for just the 3 of us. The main reason was for the large living area. Theres lots of head room and its wide. We have so far found the tent very good although as already said rain can come through the door until you can get it shut. We havent purchased the carpet but will before our next camping trip. Just to make the living area more comfortable. I am not sure about the foot print as yet. I would certainly recommend this tent to anyone who wants plenty of room.

We bought the Voyager 6 as new campers with no idea what it was all about. This is a great tent, nice and spacious inside with one large and one small detatchable sleeping pod inside. I would defintely recommend getting the 'carpet' too if you can - makes such a difference to the comfort inside.

It isn't too difficult to put up - takes me and my husband about an hour and a half, but we have only done it 3 times so far and two of those were in high winds!

We have experienced extreme rain, wind and thunder and lightning in our short experiences so far and the tent has held up well to this. No leaks or anything. You don't feel like it's going to come crashing down round your ears either!

We were told that blue tents were not so popular due to how dark they can be, but there are plenty of windows in this one so it doesn't feel dark at all.

We also got the Voyager 6 porch which went with the tent, just because it gives so much more space - ideal for leaving wet and muddy shoes/wellies in.

We were new to camping and when we saw the offer on the six berth we just had to go for it, we have just had our fourth outing in it and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending to others, it's spacious and we have never had a leak even in some terrible weather, we also have the footprint and carpet which we also love and have just purchased the porch which is also ideal although a bit tricky to put erect the first time second time was a lot easier xxx

Manufacturer's Description

A strong, stable and spacious 6-person tent with large windows and generous headroom.

Built using a strong semi-geodesic structure, the Hi Gear Voyager Elite 6 is an easily-pitched tent with room to accomodate 6 campers and all their gear.

It has a large, full-standing-height bedroom area, which can be adapted to convert some of the space into storage quarters if needed.

The groundsheet is sewn in, meaning you get no unwanted draughts, moisture or bugs getting in. Multiple windows (and mesh panels) let you control how much sunlight gets in, and maintain your privacy. The large front door and additional side door give you easy access for you and your gear, and also let you control ventilation.

It's stable enought to stand up to very windy conditions, with the cross-pole design giving it extra strength and flexibility.

A versatile tent that's great for families, groups of friends or festival-goers - and don't forget, you can add extra comfort and insulation by choosing the Hi Gear Voyager Elite Carpet, and extend your sheltered space by adding on the Hi Gear Voyager Elite 6 Porch.
