We bought this tent this summer as we were looking to buy a tent that would accommodate our expanding family, in comfort and style. We spent ages researching different makes and models and visiting tent displays around our local area. We found this model on a great deal with the tent, footprint and carpet so snapped it up there and then. We have not been disappointed. Although we have only used it twice so far this summer it has survived through torrential downpours during both camps and on the last camp winds of over 60mph while on a hill! (2 other tents in our party didn't survive the night!)
We love the ease of putting it up, first pitch without practice took only 70 minutes in the pouring rain. 2nd pitch took us 50 minutes with the carpet and porch groundsheet down too! The tent is warm and comfortable and at one point has accommodated 15 people for a beer and 10 people to sleep (after the other tents were lost!) and I would recommend to anyone. The only reason we have given it a 9 out of 10 and not full marks is that the Outwell pegs are flimsy and nearly all have bent or snapped already on only 2 camps. Bearing in mind that as it was wet ground on both camps the ground should have been softer and easier to peg. And you have to check with each site to see if the tent will fit before you go. But apart from that we can't wait to start our camping season next year now!

We upgraded to the Hartford XL at the end of 2010 after outgrowing our 5 year old Millets 4 berth. This is one large tent, the living and sleeping space is amazing. We also bought the carpet and footprint. The carpet is expensive, but makes those cold and early mornings so much more pleasant, and the footprint keeps the tent itself clean and helps you choose tent orientation before you start to erect the massive dome!
Pitching is a bit tricky and will need two people, and takes about an hour from unpacking to last guy rope.
My only criticism is the porch; the placement of the front door zips could be better and with the doors up, it's a wind sock and moves about quite a lot - we've learnt now not to pitch with the porch pointing into the wind! We had some very strong winds in France this year, we lost most of the pegs at the front of the tent as the ground became a swamp, the porch collapsed and some of the poles came lose. One of the porch poles split during this, but they're easy to replace and I wouldn't go camping without a set of spare poles! I'm going to buy some longer pegs for the porch, and windward guys, although the stock pegs are pretty good, they're not very long.

We love this tent as it houses us all, 2 adults, 1 teen, 2 kids and a baby (in a travel cot) with no problem. We can have our table and chairs all up in the middle section without any problem. It's survived a few torrential downpours and lots of holidays and only been reproofed once.
The porch is ideal for all the muddy shoes and the kids love the Outwell kids tent we have inside with the pockets, starry nights and basket ball.

Bought this tent at the start of the year and have only been impressed with it so far. First time it took us less than an hour to pitch with two people, and the second time I managed to pitch it alone (not recommended by the way! Won't be doing that again but it was a fun experiment.). It is a massive tent with the biggest living area I have ever seen in a tent with fibreglass poles. The three bedrooms are spacious and lovely with storage inside and out. The tent is very well constructed, it is sturdy, the poles are impressively heavy-duty, and it is easy to put up. There are many handy touches such as the zip-up hole for the electric hookup and the hanging hook for the light, and the lovely sky lights (although I have to stand on tip-toes to open / close these, and I'm 5' 10!) I love the fact you can zip open the third bedroom from both sides without taking it out in hot weather (as well as the outer door on that side of course!), giving a lovely bit of air flow. I love the fact you can pitch it all in one go, ready to go to bed if you're in a hurry! It is very warm at night due to the bucket construction. I have a little fan heater that keeps the chill off but it doesn't really need it in summer.
Drawbacks: The third bedroom sags a little (can't attach it to the outside door for obvious reasons), and I'm not sure it would really sleep two. Some campsites will not accept it which I didn't appreciate it when we bought it. Also it could have had a side door on the porch, which would be more practical to use when it rains. Other than that I love it to bits and look forward to many years of use!

Haven't used our tent for over 5 years, bought it to take family away , such a bad experience at time(with weather and campsite)we vowed never to camp again and we stored it under the bed until now. Just going to sell it when my now grown up daughter suggested we try camping again! Couldn't believe after all this time the tent was still as new!My husband and I arrived two hours before the others, deciding to get the tent up for their arrival !we caused quite a few laughs and entertainment for other campers, who after watching us struggle for a while all rallied around to help put it up !Once up it looked brilliant, forgot how big it was and quickly made it very homely , I must say at this point I don't camp , I 'glamp'!The weather was terrible all day Sunday with torrential rain and howling winds but we stayed in, watched tv, and enjoyed each others company. The tent didn't let us down ,we were all dry and warm. Will we camp again ?? absolutely but need to buy a few things that haven't lasted quite as well as my good old tent, which only needs some waterproofing after its bashing .

Great tent, adverse weather conditions did not spoil our family holiday. We were able to shelter, dry and warm. Good amount of space, pods roomy, easy to assemble and very easy to put away. Very happy with our purchase, will look at buying a footprint and children's pods. One slight gripe: front porch area seemed raised and couldn't work out why, design fault maybe?

Can sum it up in one word 'Fantastic'. We love it - it is easy to assemble, loads of space, looks good, can extend it, bought from new and has been excellent value. Have used for the last 4.5 years and it is still like new. We have used as a family and invited other family members and friends to join us because there is so much space - Perfect!

Mostly a brilliant tent. Vast living area, down sides include:- zips which are easily accessible for little fingers, and you have to stand into the tent to close the main door if you are a bit on the short side! Also the little window in the bedrooms seem relatively pointless but obviously thats just my opinion!

Excellent family tent, loads of room for when the weather is bad and 3 good size bedrooms.
The only problem we had is the colour coding on the poles is reversed so was a little awkward the first time we pitched it but not a problem.
With the tunnel on the front for cooking and storing wellies and muddy clothes it is great for all weathers.
Nice skylight and good sized windows it is overall a great tent.

This tent has got every thing you need for a family tent,3 spacious bedrooms skylights in the roof and 3 air vents.Quite awkward to put the outer over if you are short in size. The only problem with this older version is that you have to put the inner up first which means if it is raining it gets wet.But on the whole a good tent will be looking to upgrade.
