We used this tent for the first time this weekend and I adore it! We have a big Vango Tigris 800 which is just to big to take for weekends so this one was bought from Yeomans for £149 and the extension for £69.
We had every weather and the tent performed very well, no leaks, no draughts and we stayed snug at night. The storage pockets where great. Not saggy like in our Tiggy. We took it for 2 of us, and it was a good size. For 5.Don't even think about that! We will use it for 3 (2 adults and a 5 year old) normally as the bedrooms take a double and a single airbed perfectly. I don't think you would manage 5 in the living area either! The door options are good with the canopy over the side door, something I wanted in a tent and sold this to me! The option of the front canopy was a good choice as we where able to sit out even in the rain and gave us a good area to cook. The tent has loads of windows,I didnt find the lack of window in the front door an issue as there is 3 on either side. Any more I would feel like I was sat in a plastic bag! mesh over both doors, 5 vents and EHU access by the side door. This tent is everything you could want in a tent. Very happy with my choice.

We bought a Virginia 5 tent for our 1st ever camping trip and it was a complete success, we had 2 adults, 2 children and a dog (+ cage)and went camping for a week, we had torrential rain as well as really sunny weather, our tent coped with it all, the bedroom pod unclipped to make a massive room when needed, there were pockets in the main room as well as in both bedroom pods which were very handy, very light and airy thanks to all the windows as well as two doors. All in all, I love my tent, would recommend it to anyone and cant wait to go camping again. Cant praise this tent enough, its fantastic!

Fantastic tent for our first family camping trip!
I agree with other reviews that would struggle to get 5 airbeds in. Perfect for the 4 of us and the bedroom divide was ideal to keep an eye on our 4 year old twins.
The pitch instructions were not detailed enough, but nonetheless we managed to erect it without too much of a struggle. Once the poles are in the tent is quite heavy, so definitely need two to pitch it.
Great front space with plenty of windows, and side door is good with its canopy. Plenty of storage space. Excellent headroom - my husband is 6'2.
Can't wait to go again!

I purchased the Outwell Virginia 5 tent from Yeomans last week and have so far spent a weekend away in it. I had watched the video for the Outwell Winniepeg on Argos which is basically the same so was confident that we would be able to put it up fine. It was easy to put up but not as easy as the video led me to believe. The main problem is the weight but once you get the three poles up and fixed it really is simple, would need 2 people though. The great thing is that you don't need to put the bedroom pod up separatley so if you need to set up in the rain the inside won't get wet. The only problem we had was that one of the zips to the bedroom compartment was split, I managed to rethread it but it still wouldn't open fully. I emailed Yeomans on the Monday morning and they ordered me a new pod straight away and were very prompt in getting back to me.
The bedroom is spacious but I think you would struggle to get 5 airbeds in there and the divider is more of a token gesture but if you're staying with family that wouldn't be a problem.
The front section is also a good size and all the windows are great if you are stuck inside. My partner is 6ft 2in and he could stand up fine. It would be better if the front panel also had a window but that is a small complaint. There is plenty of room to set up chairs and cooking equipment if you are unable to go outside and the porch over the side door means that if the wind is blowing in the right direction you can have that door open in the rain and keep dry.
We had a lot of wind and rain whilst we were away and there were no leaks and the tent didn't really flap at all.
The pegs that come with the tent are also great, sturdy, blue plastic ones and not the little metal ones that come with many tents. There are also loads of guy ropes which are a bit of a pain when you're hammering them all in but were really reassuring when the wind picked up. We also managed to get the tent back in the bag easily first time, we watched another couple putting theirs down and copied their trick of one of us rolling across the folded tent whilst the other one rolled it up and that worked a treat and was kind of fun too!
We love this tent, but having had a nightmare weekend in a small dome tent we would be easily impressed! The space for 2 is great and would probably be ok for a small family as you tend to spend most of your time outside anyway. It's nice and airy so you don't wake up feeling like someone is holding a pillow over your face but then we haven't tried it in hot weather yet and looking at the forcast we may not do so this year!
All in all I would recommend this tent, it's of a really high quality and excellent value for money. I'm really glad that I ruled the others out and went for this one.

This is our second year of using the Virginia 5 and we adore it. We go to various pagan campsites and we have had so many campers admire our tent and set up. It's warm, comfortable, airy, non-claustrophobic, dry and has stood up to extremely high winds and torrential rains and we have never had reason to worry!
An excellent tent all round (and that coming from a new camper last year and someone who really didn't want to start camping in the first place!).
I wouldn't swap it for the world!

I have just returned from a very wet and windy weekend in Angelsey. We had bought a new Vango Icarus 500 and our friends had the Outwell Virginia 5. On the first night our tent flapped about in the wind and leaked - woke up to pools of water and as on a slight slant had to bail the corners out using a dish. Our friends Outwell tent didn't let in a drop of water didnt flap about in the wind and clearly was of a much better quality. We came back returned the tent and bought a Virginia 5 - going back weekend after next and looking forward to using new one.

After getting back into camping after several years and after the arrival of our daughter, we were in the market for a reasonably priced family tent with lots of space.
After wandering around our local camping shop and looking at the erected tents, the Virginia 5 stood out as our perfect tent. We wanted a tent that we could stand up in comfortably (and not only at one point in the middle as is the case with a lot of dome tents). This one gives my OH plenty of head clearance.
The bedroom inner in my opinion is brilliant. It is one unit, but with a dividing curtain should you wish to use it. With our daughter still being very small, it suits us to have one big sleeping area for the three of us.
On the outside of the bedroom compartment, there are really useful storage pockets, as well as inside the bedroom, along the sides of the inner tent.
There are lots of windows in the living area which let in lots of light, but all have tie back curtains which fit perfectly.
The doors have 3 parts to them. The zipped outer door, a zipped mesh screen and a curtain as for the windows.
There is also a zipped access point for an EHU which is very useful.
The sewn in groundsheet is great for keeping out the bugs. We have just bought a carpet for the Virginia 5 as well which fits the living area really well.
We fancied a bit more room for cooking and the like, so invested in the Vango Icarus 500 canopy in Laurel/Meadow, which is a decent match on the colour and fits really well onto the tent.
I suppose the only negative is that it is exclusive to Yeomans. That in itself isn't a bad thing as we paid a reasonable price for the tent, but it usually pays to shop around, and you don't get that option.
But as that is the only negative I can find, I would recommend this tent to anyone.

This is a great weekend tent for a family of 4. Being fans of Vango, we had planned to purchase the slightly cheaper Icarus 500, however on visiting the shop, the Outwell just looked nicer, higher quality and is much lighter in the living area due to the large windows.
It pitched very easily (pretty much a one person job with some assistance with holding the poles) and only took about 20mins, which bearing in mind it was the first time and our toddler was offering a great deal of 'help' was excellent. Tent pegs supplied are plastic but went in well. Guys are luminous which is quite helpful in low light.
It's very spacious inside with plenty of space for a 6'2' chap to stand up and enough room in the sleeping compartment for a double mattress, a junior mattress and a travel cot.
It comes in a large bag with compression straps - lessening the inevitable fight to get the tent back into the bag at the end of the holiday!
The downsides: because it's a sealed unit there are lots of zips for getting in and out. The bedroom divider is off centre (presumably because it's a 5 berth tent) but this leaves the smaller side quite small. However, these downsides are really trivial!
We also purchased the footprint groundsheet which is pretty good but bizarrely only came with 6 pegs despite the 8 pegging loops. After a weekend, there was a small amount of condensation between the two.
All in all, we are really pleased with this tent and would happily recommend it to others.

We (2 of us and a big dog) have just spent our first weekend in our new Outwell Virginia 5 and are very pleased with our purchase. It is very similar to a Vango Icarus but a big difference is the hydrostatic head (basically how waterproof it is) - it's 3000mm for the Outwell Virginia but only 2000mm for the Icarus. So, if the rain pours, you're better off in an Outwell Virginia.
We had to pitch the tent in pouring rain and we still had it up in about 15 minutes and will easily reduce that to 10 minutes or less now that we are more familiar with it.
My husband is 6ft4in tall and we chose the Virginia because of it's good height in the living area. There was more than enough room for the two of us and dog and I can imagine a family of 4 would be comfortable enough too.
We've already booked our second weekend away and have ordered the groundsheet footprint and carpet for the tent too. We would recommend the tent.

I purchased this tent from yeomans outdoors, after much deliberation between the Virginia 5, Coleman Waterfall 5 the vango orchy 500, outwell Minnesota 4 and vango icarus 500. We wanted a mid size tent for the two of us, to use for up to a weeks camping , we wanted space, but did not want to have to deal with a huge tent that fills up the entire car and takes hours to erect ! We settled on this tent, as its a higher waterproof, the pole sleeves are oxford nylon, and will take more wear and tear, and I just prefer the way outwell do things. ( I previously owned an outwell Arizona L which lasted me through years of camping and all sorts of weather, but has become a bit on the small side for containing two people and all our weeks worth of camping equipment
We ruled out the Minnesota 4 due to price, and weight . We would of had the same amount of space in the Minnesota 4, but with it being steel poles as opposed to fibreglass, it weighs a lot more. I am so happy with the virginia 5, and so glad I stuck with outwell. We have just used it for a overnight camp in the lake district, and true to form, the weather was horrific ! Driving rain battered the tent for the night and the whole of the next day, but not a drip leaked in anywhere ! The water shed off the fabric with ease, and the large porch became home to all our friends at breakfast the next morning, who were in little backpacking tents. They were in awe of all the space we had and we easily fitted in 5 people with chairs. The living area is great for small gatherings, and I picked the Virginia 5 over the coleman waterfall 5 because of the massive windows and the fact that there is 4 of them ! (the waterfall only has one on the door)
I found it really easy to pitch, it took two of us around 15 mins, and very easy to pack away. The bag is a nice big sack and tent went back in with ease, which was very much appreciated as it was pouring down ! all in all, a fantastic tent for £160, sealed groundsheet, big windows, plenty of space. Really cant fault it !
