I'm a firm believer in the fact that you only need a tent - for that day or night when you really need the tent (bad weather) After having a Kyham Mcinley for 7 yrs I decided that it was time for a new one. I had about £100 to play with looked at loads and in the end went for a BETA 350 for £80 (the name VANGO in the end sold it)
Used it 4 times and each time a elastic peg hook drops off, a ground sheet hook dropped off, and the last straw was a front pole snapping in a high breeze this weekend (check Saturdays forecast for North Yorkshire - no gales) whilst loads of 25 quid cheapy tents stood firm. Not impressed, and I've told Vango this.

I got a Vanga Beta 350 last week as a replacement to the little Halfords Carnival . I used the little tent on fishing trips with my son to the beech and thought it was great. Until now.
The Vango 350 is so much better in every way. Condensation was always an issue with the small single skin Halfords tent. Not with the vango. Hardly any. Even in the wet weather. The window got a little steamed up, but that was it.
Not shown in the spec of the tent is a little curtain for each window, sown in and velcro closed. A nice touch I thought.
Strong pegging points all around the 350 made for a good tight layout. I did have a little trouble with the flysheet during erection as one side was touching the ground and the other side was 3' above the ground. But it was my first time pitching it. With a little practice im sure I will fix this.
Pitching took me 20 mins+ from start to finish. From opening the bag, reading instructions to hooking in the inner tent.
By myself and sporting a leg cast as I have a broken ankle. Not to shabby a time for a bloke who cant walk.
There is tonnes of room inside, with both my 6 year old son, and all our car camp gear. I would even say another adult would fit comfortably . We had 4 fishing rods, tackle, 2 camp chairs and a cooler box in the porch. Was snug but workable.
It can be a little drafty in the porch as there is no skirt at the bottom .
Packed it is quite heavy at over 6kg . No problem for car camping, but I would not like to be carrying it for to long. I think the Omega 350 is the same tent only lighter. And twice the price.
Pegs are cheap and dont grip well in sand. I will upgrade these.
All night constant rain and not a drop inside. Impressive summer weather protection. The fly sheet repelled water very well . The ground sheet for the porch is also well designed.
I have not got a chance to repack the tent yet as we had to leave the campsite in the pouring rain . No point folding it away as it all has to be put up again for a dry out at home. So I cant comment on repack yet.
65 pounds plus 7 pound postage was the cheapest I could find on ebay. Well worth it. Im very happy with my buy and will be out again soon.

We bought this tent to replace one that we were not happy with and have found that it far surpasses our requirements. We used it touring Europe last year and got very proficient in putting it up and taking it down.
Have found that there is plenty of room and I am 6'1' though I wouldn't want to have 3 people living in it. As previously said the gap between the GS and sides allows draughts in and insects, but in hotter climes it does allow a nice cooling breeze in.
Customer service is brilliant as unfortunately we had an accident and one of the poles snapped, we contacted Vango for a replacement and they replaced the complete tent and not just the pole.

We bought this as an 'upgrade' to our other Vango - the Delta 300 - following a very wet weekend away where the limited living space of the Delta proved problematic. The Beta's first outing was a weekend of mixed weather - the first night we had gusty winds and very heavy rain, and later in the weekend we had a day of constant drizzly rain, the perfect test for your new tent! I would have to agree with the earlier review which said that this is really to be considered a two-berth - for myself and my rugby-player husband, this was plenty large enough, with space for our clothes etc in the sleeping pod and lots of rom for both us and storage in the porch area. A third person would certainly have been a tight squeeze though!
Negatives - well, not many. There is a bit of a gap around the bottom of the porch area - not a problem in warmer weather but chilly breezes would gust in underneath and make cold weather camping less pleasant. It would also be useful to have eyelets through the doorway tapes and ideally some means of securing the doorway groundsheet with flat-headed pegs as well as it's easy for this to get rucked up and creased.
All in all, we're delighted with this - good value for money and easy to pitch. We did the essential trial run with pitching ours so by the time we got to the site it was already rigged up as an 'in-one' pitch which made life quicker and easier.

We bought this tent as a smaller, lighter tent in addition to our Orchy tent.
The Beta 350 is perfect for weekend breaks - it is quick and easy to pitch and drop with plenty of room for storage in the porch area.
We've never had any problems with rain or wind. It can get chilly with the porch area not being totally enclosed but then we just move into the sleeping area.
An ideal purchase for shorter trips.

I bought this tent for weekend camping trips with my dog, I needed a relatively large porch area for his kennel as well as my walking equipment and this tent matched those requirements, although its a 3 berth tent it can comfortably fit a double airbed with room at the sides for more baggage if needed.
I managed to pitch the tent on my own in under 20 minutes, although the outer dies leave a couple of inches from the bottom that can let a draught in, however when it started to rain it successfully kept me and my equipment dry.

We bought this tent for about £50 new from eBay in 2009 and used it about 4 times.
The sleeping compartment is fine for two people, and can fit a double airbed with room at the sides for a couple of holdalls etc.
The porch is useful, but due to the slope of roof it is more useful for storage than as a living area. It is possible to sit on a folding chair inside the porch, but you have to have your back to the sleeping compartment and both face the same direction!
The gap between the porch and the groundsheet does let in some rain, and it can get quite cold too.
Whilst in Cornwall last August we got a night of very heavy rain/strong wind and the tent survived whilst our neighbours suffered broken poles so can withstand the elements quite well.
Overall, a good starter tent for a couple, we've since upgraded to an orchy 400.

I bought this for me and my partner to use at Glastonbury festival last year. We set it up prior to going down and found it very confusing to put up. When we reached Glastonbury it took an hour to get the tent up. This tent is completely reliant on the guy ropes; if they aren't put in the right place then the outer skin touches the inner and the tent WILL become wet. Due to our guy ropes getting pulled out often our porch leaked (soaking anything in it) and on the last night I woke up and half the sleeping area was soaked (including my mat and sleeping bag!) I wouldn't recommend this tent for trips unless you can guarantee that the guy ropes won't come out.
On a positive note, when the weather is dry. This is a brilliant sized tent especially for two people. I loved being able to store all our bags in the porch and have all the sleeping area to sleep in. It also made a great cosy space for chilling out in last thing at night or first thing in the morning.
Overall I was quite disappointed in this tent.

A sturdy, reliable 3-man tent. Easy to erect - 20/25 mins. Enough room inside for me and my 3 kids (ages 9,7 & 5) to squash in together (use roll mats not airbeds to fit that many in!)
Porch is a good size BUT there is a sizeable distance between the bottom hem of the porch fabric and the groundsheet. This leaves a fair bit of space for the wind to blow through, making the porch itself quite cold at night or in windy weather.
This is well made, very stable tent and I would recommend it.

Just bought this tent to replace an old vango Tahoe dome. The Beta 350 has a good sized porch with just enough headroom to sit on camping chair but I'm 5'8' so a six footer would find it more difficult. Plenty of storage space in the porch. Inner tent will easily fit 2 with loads of space for bags. Pleased with the quality of finish & like the Excalibur/black (grey/black) colour in makes the inner nice & dark.Waterproof & taped seams all good. Easy to pitch. A good tent for the price.
