I bought this tent at the end of summer '07 with a free sun canopy. When it was delivered the tent was in mallard/mercury and the sun canopy in black/mercury. After some phone calls I got the canopy in the same colour. Was going to use it the first time in may'08 but work commitments stopped that, so tried it out in local park. As soon as I opened the bag, one set of poles fell apart, the elasticated string had come undone one end. It took me and my son about 30 minutes getting it together again. Erecting the tent was a struggle, it was the first time so 'practice makes perfect'.

So went in August to Derbyshire to camp, when putting the tent up, one of the main dome area poles split, right down the middle (luckily it was already in the sleeve) so when taking it down I had to be very careful. When I got home I rang the retailer they said 'sorry but 12 months is over, get in touch with VANGO because you get a LIFETIME GUARANTEE'. I said it was only 53 weeks since I bought it and only the first time I'd used it,but no joy. So I phoned Vango, explained what had happened and guess what, 'sorry but the poles aren't covered in the guarantee'.

POSITIVE SIDE- light, airy, big living area and porch.

NEGATIVE SIDE- poles for dome too thin, groundsheet should be sewn in and not 'bathtub' design. (our tent was full with flying insects before we could get the groundsheet in) pods were hard to get blown up mattresses in. Should have separated bags for tent/poles/groundsheet, I'm 6 foot and found it heavy to carry.

My Husband and I have used this tent a number of times since we bought it. Putting up gets easier with practice. As there's only the two of us plus one small dog , we have found it brilliant to have so much space. We don't put the third pod in and use this area for kitchen area, we put up a picnic table in the porch and find there is still plenty of space to walk past it. We both sleep in one pod and use the 2nd for storage . When camping in Norfolk with the high winds and heavy rain we had in August last Year (2007), we were the only one's who didn't have to go out to re-peg the tent. We've had no leaks at all. Highly recommend for those who don't like feeling closed in and want space for children on the rainy days.

This is our first tent and have used it several times over the summer. It was difficult to put up especially when windy - HINT: don't put all the poles in straight away! We put the central ones in first and then peg down the 4 corners. Then we do the pods and finally the porch.

I hadn't realised that there wasn't a groundsheet under the pods when we bought it - so we have bought separate ones. It survived a weekend of torrential rain - granted it did eventually start dripping!

The pods are small - we use all three, so have never used the canopy at the back. We have two as singles and one as a double - I do find that then means the mattress touches the canvas allowing moisture in.

We have bought a large sun canopy (unfortunately we couldn't find a 2007 in stock so have had to buy a 2008 so colours are mismatched - so annoying)! This was a real benefit - though we haven't quite worked out how it is actually supposed to attach yet!

Over all a great tent - the space inside the dome is fantastic! I do wish we had gone for the 800dlx instead though to give us a little more room in the pods.

Purchased this tent after much hunting. Decided not to have a fitted groundsheet as didn't like the idea of having to clean mud off groundsheet when we get home, we just put this one on the washing line and hose it down! Also we can put it up if its raining as we don't have a flysheet first. Living area large and spacious, we use back pod for storage.

Putting up is okay as long as it isn't too windy, can take me and OH about 45 minutes to put up.

Negs - it would be useful if the groundsheet went under the 2 side bedroom pods as well. Could do with some storage pockets or a loop on roof for a light.

On the whole we are very pleased with our purchase and have been using for 4 years and will continue to do so.

Have just returned with this tent from our two week holiday in Cornwall. Overall, a fantastic tent (even though it takes time to put up).

Good Points:

Space-This tent provides ample space for storage. We used the two side pods and found we had enough room in the main tent for everything else (including two inflatable chairs).

Ground Sheet - Ok, so it's not integrated like some of the other Vango tents. But, after pitching on wet marshy ground (which was very very muddy when we packed it away) I think it was great as I was able to dry the groundsheet on the grass whilst the outer tent whizzed around on the washing line.

Pods- The pods are very spacious although they don't have high headroom. After all most of the time spend will be using the main dome area (that has the headroom) rather than the pods that are after designed designed only for sleeping in.

Porch- We found that the porch was really useful especially as we spend most nights in our two week holiday cooking and living inside.

Bad Points:

Back Canopy- Ensure that you leave ample space at the back of the tent to use it. We didn't and found it was almost impossible to use. Also depending on wind direction you may need to buy some more quylines to keep it stable.

Overall Size- Yes, the size is great especially if the weather isn't good. But a word of warning it does take time to put up and even though you find that fellow camper's in 2 man tents manage to put theirs up in a matter of minutes, it is worth the pain and sweat as you will be the one smiling when it rains and you have a nice large tent with lots of space.

We are currently using this and have used it for the last three years as our family tent, 4 of us plus 1 dog.

Positives.Loads of space, central area and porch are ideal for storage and internal use. Combination of dome and tunnel gives good height clearance (for us 5ft 6in types). It has remained a solid tent in adverse coastal conditions. Bedroom pods are cosy and flexible, we have used one for storage or occasionally removed one for rear entrance/canopy. Once familiarised is easy to put up and take down.

Negatives.Pods are limited in size, lack of an integrated groundsheet, central area can feel drafty and too airy on cooler evenings. Lacks newer internal and storage features. There is a lot of flysheet, so it does take some time to put up.

Generally it is an excellent tent for the price range, versatile with plenty of usable space.

This was our first big tent, it is great I agree with all the points already made. It is great that you can use 2 pods if you wish and use the other for storage.

Bad points. The ground sheet is not integrated (unlike Diablo) The dog can escape but mainly the rain gets in at the corners and puddles appear.

Pod are not very spacious. Don't get me wrong it is a great tent and lasted us years, even Glasto last year! However the Diablo is far superior to the Colorado. The Diablo has a separate porch area which is zipped which maintains a dry non muddy tent unlike the Colorado

We've just used the tent for the first time, we found it had plenty of room in it, the only fault I found with it is , if you are using all three bedrooms, you cannot use the canopy, which is a shame.

We did find it quite hard to put up, it was really windy and it's only our second attempt! so hopefully we'll get better the more we use it!

First proper tent after deciding how great camping was. Internal living area is hard to beat - especially the long porch area. It is big & difficult to handle if pitching in the wind. Low headroom in bedrooms is reason we're going to find a tunnel tent next - but it will be hard to find one which spoils us for living space like this has. Had trouble getting a double mattress in too but if you can afford to sleep one to a bedroom, then not an issue.

Bought this as our first proper tent after much deliberating over many different types.

Find it a really good tent, loads of room as others have mentioned without it being to big. Being able to use the middle pod space as a kitchen area is a big plus. We do have a bit of a struggle putting it up but thats due to our inexperience more than the tent being difficult, as it's really quite simple. It's really weather conditions and our inability to find a nice even pitch to place it which have made things a bit more difficult.

I would recommend this tent to anyone starting or after a decent priced 4-6 berth tent.
