Superb tent for 2 people, easy to put up (10 mins average). Used mine to tour the highlands of Scotland for 2 weeks (moved every day). Had every sort of weather thrown at it, stood up to it all. I agree with the common complaint about the front door, will be adding velcro to it at some stage, also quite noisy in windy weather. Would I buy another one, YES I WOULD!

Being new to camping and only the two of us we need a tent that was easy to pitch and have plenty of room if the weather changed, so we chose the Vango Icarus 400. This has proved to be an excellent choice.
The tent certainly appears well designed and is easy to pitch and easy to take down. It is spacious for two people and it's windows make for a light and airy feel. The front awning allows us to make the most of sunshine (now we have brought the King Poles, which are not supplied with the tent). The ventilation is provided by large vents and also a mesh doorway.
We had a couple nights rain on our first trip, but staid snug and dry, even the acorns couldn't get through!.Excellent.

Have fully 'road' tested our new Icarus 400 and it came out brilliantly.
We are novice campers and as there is only 1 adult in our small party I chose this tent on ease of erection and size. I wasn't disappointed, the tent was very easy to put up by one adult and one child. Just 3 poles (all the same) and the pegs and guys.
Whilst away in the Yorkshire Dales we had 24 hours of torrential rain and 2 nights of very strong gusty winds. The tent survived both. The rain was no trouble, no leaks and we slept warm and comfy.
The next two nights we had very strong gusty winds, and I didn't sleep a wink. The tent was literally getting battered left and right. I was lying in my sleeping bag planning what to do when it all collapsed! No such need. Even though we found out the next day that other tents has broken poles etc, our Icarus was still standing perfectly. The tent pegs hadn't even moved.
I seriously do not recommend camping in big strong winds as we didn't sleep a wink, but the tent was excellent in both torential rain and strong winds if you do encounter either.
Space wise it's fitted 2 people and our greyhound in fine, and we had space in the living area for 2 chairs and our stuff. The bed section fitted a double airbed with space for the dogs bed and our stuff. I did take the advice of previous reviewers and stuck velcro on the the bottom of the main door, which proved a godsend when we hit adverse weather.
Recommended.

Ideal for 2 of us plus dog - probably too small for 4 adults. Well made and very easy to erect - the guy in the motorhome next to us timed it as 17 minutes and that was the first time we'd put it up. However, we could do with manufacturer's instructions as there are a few straps that baffled us despite being very experienced campers.

The 400 is a cracking weekend tent for a 2 adult 1 child family who want a quick to put up and take down tent with some basic room.
Its sold as a 4 man tent and yes it could sleep 4 but its far better as a 3 person tent. Two adults can sit on camping chairs in the living area if the weather dictates. At 6ft tall I cant stand up in one but I'm not on hands and knees either.
The front door does leave a gap but if the door elastics are pegged down correctly its not as bad as you may fear.
At time of writing this a footprint groundsheet was not available, so id bought a basic 12ft x 8 ft groundsheet and its fitted just perfect.
Theres a good few pockets to put smaller items and also an electric hook up hole for those who need such things.

This is a new 2009 model. The only fault I have with it, the front panel is not secure enough at the bottom. It either needs velcro attached to the sewn in groundsheet or one of the zips to fully fasten along the bottom. That would stop drafts and rain from entering the front when windy.

Manufacturer's Description
The new Vango Icarus Range is likely to be one of the most popular this season as it has a fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 3-pole no hassle construction will make it the most ideal of weekend tents. The tent frame is constructed using Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 2000 Polyester flysheet (2000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts. The other key features of the tent include, as-one pitching, single 4-berth sleeping compartment (no divider), TBS tension band system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, (just like all the banks) 10,000mm HH internal groundsheet, side 'J' door with mesh double door, heavy duty continuous poles sleeves, front door mesh vent, reflective webbing, 'Crystal Clear' windows, breathable fabric inner tent, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun canopy. Handled carry bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout.
