5 Reviews of the Cabana 2
By: Jfdiyes Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
Bought as a quick erect weekender and used loads and loads over the last 4 years, including 4 weeks in northern Scotland where it rained incessantly and was blowing a gale most of the time!
3000hh, never had a leak. Only 3 poles (one central, 2 at door, only 4 guys in total. Up in 5 minutes all pegged. Stands up to the worst weather brilliantly.
Just enough room for a table, 2 chairs, portaloo and foodstuffs in front part, cozy sleeping for 2 in inner.
Wondering what to do when this one gives up the ghost as they don't make it anymore! Always gets lots of comments on site.

Here is my review on the Cabana-2 tent after a month Camping in the UK and Isle Off Man. Pretty much as what the others have said in their reviews, an awesome little tent, suited our needs perfectly, stood up to the weather, had one night in a months camping in May/June that a good strong wind was blowing and plenty of rain during the night, this was on a fairly exposed site, it had one small puddle water on the floor that leaked in from the seam at the top of the doorway, but found a solution for that after a while. Found it did condensate though if you left the roof flap closed in the cold conditions, we used a can of Nikwax to give it a bit more waterproofing which worked fine. The only downside is the material is a bit light I felt, as really the main part of the tent is only a fly, its only the small part in where you sleep that is the inner of the tent. Very fast and simple to erect, Two people in the tent with two small camp chairs were adequate with plenty of standing room. Sadly because of the shipping costs to send it back to NZ, we left the tent in the UK, giving it to a young couple who camped next to us on our last day.

L live in NZ and you can't find a good Two person Tent over here that you can freely stand up in. As we are coming over to the IOM TT in 2016 which for us will be a very expensive trip, hence the camping at the TT, we decided to purchase a Gelert Cabana 2. After a lot of searching we found and purchased one through Funky Leisure in the UK who we found fantastic to deal with. We have had it up, its very easy to erect and pack away, and its going to suit our needs perfectly, size and weight wise. We will be using the tent over a months stay in the UK in May and June 2016, so l will be giving you a full report on it all after that.

I have used htis tent for two years and it is, without doubt, the best line tent for archery competitions ever made - and I have seen/used a lot. Unfortunately when in production, few people ever realised this - including Gelert who missed a massive marketing opportunity.
Advantages:
Rapid setup and pack up.
Enough standing height to build your bow.
Good areas behind the entrance to store equipment and food.
Entrance great to sit in as you're waiting to shoot. If it rains you can move back into the ten.If its sunny you move out.
Sewn in ground sheet .
A footprint that it perfect for the archery line.
For day competitions don't install the inner - makes for faster setup/bringdown and provides more space.
For two day shoots put up the inner - its perfect for one (I am six foot one). The inner is small enough to stay warm and a long way from the outer so there's no chance of rain leaking in. You sleep with your bow made up!
Good protection from mosquitoes - a net is included at the entrance.
Very little to go wrong - one central pole.
Bomb proof in wind.
As every the tent pegs need replacing but that's no biggie.
For the money there are better tents for normal camping but this was an exceptional tent for archery competitions. The sadness is that it is no longer available.

Brilliant little but tall tent at 2m, 1 central pole and 2 door poles, all steel. It can be set up in 10 mins! it has a sleeping pod inside and a bug net door which zips up even if the main door is rolled away. Its never leaked and is great for condensation as it has a vent at the top and also around the base of the sewn in groundsheet. I think the sleeping pod is 130 x 190 so great for single campers (i camp in it with my dog) if using for 2 adults I would say it would be better to take the pod out as there would be a much bigger area to sleep. I love mine, it has become my fave smaller tent :) I use mine with a Vango adventure tarp which works really well.
