This is the first tent I have bought for some time, since using a steel framed tent some years ago. I spent a long time researching different makes and sizes of tent but having read the reviews on this site about the Gelert Horizon 6 I opted to purchase the pack including tent, footprint, porch and carpet. What a great decision.

Just spent a week on the West coast of Scotland (Argyll)and had a great time. The tent is easy and straight forward to put up with colour co-ordinated poles. The wind got up as I was pegging down so used some Gelert power pegs to peg it down as the metal ones supplied didn't look like they were going to do the job.

Once pegged out we put up the porch, put the carpet in and also used the Gelert matching Breezeblocker (Windbreak).

On the first night we had the most horrendous wind and rain but the tenet took it all in its stride, I think in part thanks to the power pegs which never budged (the dude in the next tent was out 3 times overnight pegging his back down.)

The rain stayed out and the tent was undamaged the next morning.

The porch is a must-have with this style of tent, it provided some much needed cooking space in the rain and kept any mess out of the main living area of the tent which was big enough for the four of us to play charades in at night. The sleeping areas are a good size and have mesh panels as well as the usual fabric ones to allow for air to circulate, the main side doors have the same set up and was great for keeping beasties out and letting fresh air in.

I think this is a great tent which feels like some thought has gone into it's design and has a good quality finish.

Fantastic tent once it was erected, it really is a 3 man job. Brute force is required to attach the long flexible poles into the securing pins. Very versatile as you don't have to fit both sleeping pods - enabling you a huge living area if you wanted . There are a total of 3 doors. We also purchased the full canopy which was a great addition to the tent. Brilliant , very glad we purchased it

This is our 3rd tent in 3 months due to not knowing what we really wanted at the start! This is it though, it has everything we need; space (3 kids), privacy ( 2 separate bedrooms one at either end big enough for a double and single air bed in both), headroom (I'm 6'3') fully integrated ground sheet, it goes up easy, it packs away easy, and above all it's well made and ticks all the boxes that the other 2 lacked. Our Horizon 6 was an Ebay bargain (thank heaven not everybody's wife likes camping) and will not be relisted as the other 2 were, if you're reading this review like I did prior to buying one then stop reading any others now, you'll only confuse yourself !

We bought this as our first tent and got the footprint and the carpet with it. It was great, we managed to put it up no problem (kept the bossy kids out of the way to get it done!). The bedrooms are a great size, we had two 13yr olds and a 10 yr old in one and we were in the other. The carpet is a must, it makes the living area lovely to be in and it is no problem to sit on so we didn't need chairs inside the tent. We had torrential rain all night on one of the nights we were in it and there was not one leak, very impressed!

All in all we were very impressed with this tent as first time campers.

Just come back from a weekend camping using our new Gelert Horizon 6 tent. When we arrived at the first campsite it was quite breezy but we still managed to put up the tent in 30 mins. Quite a large tent as the first site had smallish pitches. However having 2 separate bedrooms and a good size living space (with carpet) is a luxury after using a dome tent for many years. I would definitely recommend this.

I bought this tent in 2008 as I wanted my children to experience camping. I went to a camping place just as they were erecting all the tents so asked the men which was the easiest one to put up as I was by myself with 2 children (then aged 8). They said the Gelert Horizon 6 or 8.

I bought the Gelert Horizon 6 which has been excellent. I put it up in the garden first so that I knew where everything went. It was so easy even by myself, the only help I needed was for one of my boys to hold the one end up whilst I stretched the tent out & put some tent pegs in.

It took about 30 mins.

Our first adventure was Easter 2008 and it was very wet and windy. But the tent held out well with no leaks etc.

Bedrooms are good sizes.

We used the one bedroom for storage and for a portable toilet.

Have got some matting which is worth having as it gives insulation underfoot.

Would strongly recommend. The only thing I find hard is getting the tent back into it's bag.

Absolutely love this tent! I was very dubious about camping, but was persuaded by my family to give it a go. We saw the Gelert Horizon 6 set up at a camping show and knew it was the one for us. It is extremely spacious and withstood a howling gale and heavy rain on our first night - everything stayed dry including us!

With the tent we also bought the carpet which made it cosy inside. We also bought the porch which is excellent and helped keep the clutter out of the tent by storing it in the porch as it is very spacious.

I'm definitely a camping convert and can't wait for our next trip!

This was our first tent of this type and we found it easy to put up with fairly simple instructions even in quite a breeze. It is well made and very roomy. Since buying I have added the footprint groundsheet and inside carpet. These are very recommended to protect the tents own built in groundsheet. Also we have now added the porch as well. We have pitched it about 6 times now and have little complaint. Only real advice is to watch out not to pull it too tight when putting in pegs as this can make the door and fly repellent doors hard to zip and unzip. Its flexible in use and we particularly like the internal bedrooms which make it very private. Not the cheapest tent on the market but the quality is worth it. Noticed one previous review commented on the seeming over stretching of the poles when using pin and ring system. We have had one of the centre black poles split. All in all can only say it has served our purpose more than adequately.

Being new to camping this year I was cautious of the costs and went for the Gelert Horizon 6 as it offers a decent size and is just so easy to put up. I have since bought a larger 9 man Vango Diablo 900 tent but have decided to sell it again (As its just too difficult to put up) and stick with my Horizon 6. If I had any criticism it would be that I'm having problems trying to source a matching blue porch extension. And would have bought the 8 man if Id known how much we would enjoy camping and how often we have been going.

We started camping last year and purchased a second hand tent just in case it was not to our liking. As we enjoyed camping we decided to acquire a new tent. Our choice was the Gelert horizon 6 which we also added the footprint ground sheet, carpet and porch extension. This tent is fantastic and having only put it up twice 2 of us can do this in about 30 mins. The bedroom set up is versatile as we don't always need both of them one can be left out and the tent has a opening behind it. There is plenty of ventilation and good window use. The weather on a recent trip was not to good and with high wind and heavy rain this tent stood strong. A ground sheet for the porch extension would be good but it seems Gelert do not make one. All in all a great tent for experienced and new campers.
