My first experience of camping was in a much cheaper tent and not a pleasant experience. I was told that if I had a better tent I would enjoy camping so we bought an Outwell Montana. I have camped twice since buying the tent and believe the tent makes a massive difference form my first experience. The tent is a perfect size for my family 2 adults 2 children and a dog, sleeping arrangements are ideal, tent is warm and dry and looks good. It does require 2 people to put the tent up but it can be done properly within 20 minutes, tent packs into a trolley case with poles in a separate bag.

We own the 2010 version which is quite different from the 2012 Montana 6P version which has a more angular front. The 2012 Montana 6 from the Deluxe Collection is more like the shape of the 2010 model we own.
That said both are quality tents. We have been camping with the 2010 version several times, even though there are just two of us, we like the space the tent provides. The tent has a quality feel throughout and even when its hammering down with rain you feel confident it won't let you down.
We have camped in strong winds and rain and to date have not experienced any issues.
Pitching
At first it can take a while to pitch this tent, we would recommend looking at the many Youtube videos available. Overtime we have adopted our own method which works well - footprint first, then layout the tent, secure back two corners, insert poles, then moving form back to front, extend tent upright securing the guy ropes as you move along. Once all up, make minor adjustments as necessary.
Front Extension
We also use the Front Extension which is invaluable and serves as a cooking area., see our separate review.
Side (Canopy) Entrance
We don't use this for entering/exiting the tent, but a handy little area for a toilet. This area provides a useful accessible space for the toilet whilst providing a means of keeping it out of sight during the day.
All in all a large practical tent, great for longer stays, resistant to our great British summers.

I made a review of this tent when we first brought it, now 4 years on I think it is time to add to the review.
I cannot praise this tent enough. We have camped in gales, thunderstorms, torrential rain and heat waves, and it has stood up to all the elements. After all these years it still packs neatly into it's bag and looks as fresh as it was when we first brought it. I love the fact the windows open, and the nylon curtains come down for at night. We also purchased the carpet which makes such a difference. I would struggle to get 6 in the 2 bedrooms to be honest, but 4 fit well, and the living space is lovely and bit, with lots of headroom. If I had to buy another tent in the future it would be a Montana 6 again!

We've had our Montana 6 for 6 years now and it really is a fabulous family tent. When we bought it we were a family of 4 but we've since grown to 6 and it fits us all in easily.
We've added a canopy and a carpet for comfort but find this tent suits us brilliantly. Lots of living space if bad weather, good sized sleeping pods, lots of storage and great ehu entry point.
Like I said its 6 years old now and it's never let us down, we've just had 3 days camping in a rainy Yorkshire and e Monty was its usual great self. The only thing that could make it better is the addition of an awning which is on my snooping list before our next camp! All in all a fabulous tent, loads of room, easy to pitch ( got it down to 20 mins now) and easy to drop and pack away.
Noticed yesterday a seam at the back needed sealing, but that's not bad after 6 years of use, we have definitely had our money's worth out of this tent.
I've also got a Quechua xxl4 which was bought for the older kids really, somehow last week they ended up in the Monty!

In our opinion this tent is fab! This is the first time we have ever camped and we really had our reservations but are we glad we picked this tent! It is spacious, v strong in the wind and rain and feels like a home! The actual putting up of the tent did take us a while but now we know what we are doing Im sure it will be fine and much quicker. We cannot praise this tent enough and would recommend it to anyone who wants something more from a tent which is the nearest you can get to home while you are away!we have three kids and there was more than enough room for us all. We have a double height airbed and the kids all shared in the next bedroom. A first class tent.

What I love about this tent :
Lots of space.
Panoramic windows with lots of light.
Ability to remove the divider between the bedrooms making one large one.
Porch that can be used as an airing cupboard (!), Pocket organiser (SO useful)
Stands sturdy in high winds and no leaks in torrential rain.
The front extension - sit outside without being outside!
What I would change:
Very heavy when packed - even the bag weighs a lot.
Head room is unnecessarily high - I cannot roll up the door flaps on my own as I can't reach the top.
The doors do not zip along the bottom so when there's a cold wind blowing there is no way of sealing it up. There are plenty of other ventilation points so I think this is unnecessary.
It would also be good if the doors could be used as doors and not flaps - ie. Zips on three sides and tied back instead of rolled up.
The quality of the zips could be better. Some of them 'catch'.
There are no organiser pockets at ground level in the bedrooms.
In wet weather you have to use the porch door or rain gets in to the tent.
I really really like this tent. I would love it unconditionally if the open door flaps and tie back instead of roll up doors could be changed.

Having loaned a tent for our first camping in years I walked around our site observing other makes. The Outwell range looked the best by far. On returning home we purchased our tent and have never looked back. The Outwell is sturdy in strong winds offering a high head clearance as my husband is 6.1 ft. We have never been disappointed with our purchase having enjoyed many camping trips over the last two years.
We also purchased the awning, carpet and additional ground sheet giving a comfortable camp. Buy the best first and still be standing in the morning. We have just camped in stormy conditions we could hear the winds racing towards us - in the morning two tents had broken bars and were thrown away. Our tent stood proud not even the Outwell wind breaker moved.
We are extremely happy with this product - thank you Outwell

Think it is a 2010 model rather than 2011 cos it has roll up curtains.
This tent is amazing, the footprint groundsheet and carpet make it more cosy. We used it for the first time over the Mayday bank holiday weekend, taking our 13 year old granddaughter with us. Think 6 may be a bit of a squeeze, but for 3 of us it's great.
On arrival on site on the Friday, the wind was howling (we were close to the coast of Northumberland with little shelter), it took a while to put the tent up with the wind, but we managed it in about 35 minutes with the strong wind, putting it up in calm weather should be a breeze! (sorry couldn't resist the pun) and will probably take much less time.
We bought the awning as well and that also took us about 35 minutes to put up (granddaughter sat in the car and laughed!), but the resulting space is amazing, our granddaughter was telling her friends that we had a tent with a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom! (We use the porch for the loo).
The wind didn't bate until Saturday mid afternoon and the tent stood up really well with no adjustments, (we don't find that so surprising, we also have a Monty 4, which withstood the remnants of last years hurricane, on the east coast of Yorkshire in September, with only minor adjustments to the guy ropes).
The wind returned just in time for us to take down the tent on the Monday, to say we struggled is an understatement, the worse bit was trying to get everything back in the bags. We managed with the tent, just, but not the awning (that was finally folded up on a nice calm, fine day last Sunday).
Ws would definitely recommend this tent to anyone looking for a sturdy tent, which is uncomplicated to erect with two people and looks good on site.

The Montana 6 was our second tent and we bought it as an upgrade to a Suncamp. The tent is excellent in all respects, quality, size and rugedness. The footprint is a must to protect the underside of the tent and a good guide for setting out it's orienatation. The carpet makes the inside space luxurious enough to allow you to slip your footwear off in the porch type entrance and go bare footed.
A good tip for erecting the tent is to put the rear most frame up and loose peg a couple of guy ropes to hold it in position then work your way forward with each frame untill you can loose guy the front set. Then revisit from the back and walk them all taught towards the front. Finally pegging out all the guy ropes and the base. Like other reviewers, we both love all the windows and zip up covers and the mesh screens which can be used independantly of the doors and window covers.
Only slight gripe is the bedroom divider which cannot be removed completey when zipped open. Other than that, a great tent all round!

We used our beloved montana 6 for the 2nd time and the front awning for the 1st time at the end of april. It was easy to put up and so was the awning. We loved the extra space the awning gave us, we have a 3 year old and a 1 year old so we were able to shut the kitchen stuff away from wondering hands.
It was supposed to be a wet weekend but this didnt bother us as the tent endured a lot of rain on our 1st trip and it stayed perfectly dry, however, what we didnt know was that the winds that were due to hit us that night were 50mph.
The tent put up a dam good fight but at 3am, due to having small children with us, we decided to abandon ship.
The tent was moving with the wind a lot and because the ground was so wet the pegs kept coming out so my poor husband had to go out every so often to hammer them back in-bless
Our tent was the last standing, all other tents were flattened and caravan awnings were flying everywhere along with trees being blown down.
The awning suffered the most damage with 2 windows ripping, all poles bent and 2 storm flaps ripped off. The actual tent was still standing but once we started to take the awning down the main tent started to collapse and one side caved in (on my head I might add and kids were save int he van at this point) when this happened all the roof poles were bent.
We do not blame the tent, we still think its a fab tent and in the process of getting it all fixed for our next camping trip in july.
Would still recommend this tent, the only problems we are having is obtaining spare parts.
We have found a local place who can replace the windows and we managed to buy a set of poles on ebay for the tent which cost £100 inc postage but can not find spare poles for the awning. There are 2 roof poles for the awning and they are slightly thinner than the main tent poles but these still fit in the awning. Really don't want to buy another full set but looks like thats what we have to do, its cheaper than replacing the whole set up I suppose.
And.
The kids slept through it all
