What a fabulous tent. We bought this tent as our 'weekender' tent and it's just simply FANTASTIC! So quick and easy to put up/down. Great deal at Yeomanns with great customer service. Outwell standard totally throughout at such a great price.Still can't believe it! A lot of people kept asking us all about it (outwell and non-outwell owners!) and just loved sitting in the large living area watching the sun go down over the Great Orme as the windows are just fab! Would highly recommend.

After giving this 10 out of 10 after it's first outing I wondered if I had been overly generous. After all we experienced no wind and very little rain, so hadn't really seen what the tent could do.
But now we have just returned from a very windy weekend in Anglesey and I'm pleased (and relieved) to report that the Virginia stood up really well. With gusts over 40mph and a pitch right by the sea - many other fibreglass pole tents were bending and twisting. But the Virginia stood firm (no doubt helped by having Delta pegs on every guy rope). Still 10 out of 10!

We have used the Virginia 5 a few times now and are happy with it. The first time in prolonged heavy rain was a little daunting but it stood up to it with out any problems.
It is easy enough to pitch, and there is loads of space with 2 of us in there. The SIG and mesh doors were a god send when the swarms of Midges got too much for us outside.
Ideally I would ideally like the porch over the side door a little bigger to make use in the rain easier but I'm not complaining about it.

The man in Yeomans said you can put it up by yourself, which was important to me as my wife cannot always help, but the instructions said two people. The man was right, I did it, up and down with very little effort, although if the wind was strong it might be a different picture. It rained, it was cold, the wind blew a bit, then it was hot, this tent coped with it all, no problem at all. Very spacious, lots of light comes in, no flapping in the wind, high quality materials although this makes it heavier of course, lots of nice finishing touches. The doors are fiddly, but if you want an outer, a mesh screen and a curtain on both main doors, then some fiddling is inevitable but you soon learn the technique that suits you best. For the price of £159 this is astonishing design, space and it exudes quality. We nearly bought the almost identical Vango Icarus 500 but the Virginia won on better quality fabric and mesh on both doors. Highly recommended.

Easy to put up and good headroom. I am over 6 feet tall. Brilliant for the two of us, My wife and I liked the two doors and lots of light. No rain so can't comment on wet weather performance. Would, and have recommended this tent. Reasonable price of £156. Noticed two other Virginia 5s on site. Would have liked extra poles to fix the front door flap however we managed.

I bought this tent as a new weekend tent and having spent one weekend in it I am pretty much over the moon. The tent is really light and bright and is a very good size for myself/girlfriend and two dogs to be more than comfortable in for a weekend. I wouldn't say this was a 5 man tent but as I didn't buy it on this basis I can't really fault it there. Anyway here are my thoughts on it:
Pros -
- Plenty of light due to the number of windows.
- Like the muted colours.
- It's a really decent size for 2-3 people and we had 4 people & 2 dogs comfortably in it at night sitting in the living area.
- Fully sewn in ground sheet and the door (at least the mesh inner door) zips in fully so the dogs can't slip under the door.
- This tent has the best bag. It's like an oversized sack so you don't have to squeeze it in (or even roll it up that tightly). It also has compression like straps so once it's in you can just pull the straps to get the size down.
- The bedroom comes attached and can be pitched 'as one' so it pitches a lot quicker.
- Lots of storage pockets so there's plenty of places to keep all those useful bits and bobs.
- Excellent value for money, think I paid about £144 for it. I've paid a lot more for worse tents before.
Cons (these are really minor things that are in no way wiping the smile from my face) -
- No king poles for the front door (meh, can buy them pretty cheap)
- Reaching the front door zips from the outside. If the inner mesh is zipped up I can't reach the zip for the outer door if it's right up at the top. This is down to both the angle & height. What I need to do is have the mesh not zipped in fully (I can then stand in the doorway of the tent), zip down the mesh on both sides and the outer door on both side a couple of feet. Then I can step outside the doorway and zip the mesh fully and then do the front doors which I can now reach (just need to get used to the process really and I'm sure we will after a few trips)
- EHU access point. Personally I'd prefer this to be on the other side of the tent by the bedroom (I'm sure we can drag the EHU over to the other side and under the carpet).
- Guy rope over the front door. There's one long guy rope which comes down the middle of the front door. I think it would have made more sense to have two , one at each side of the door so that access wasn't obstructed. This wasn't an issue for us on our first trip as we didn't bother with the very front guy rope. (will probably only use this when the weather's really windy so it shouldn't be too much of an issue).
Despite all of the above little niggles I still can't bring myself to give this tent anything less than 10 out of 10, I'm just that happy with it.

Just bought the Virginia 5. My review also can be seen on Yeomans page . Really pleased with it . Really light and airy compared to the other ones around Vango/Icarus Gelert/Ottowa.
Plus points
Sown in ground sheets and doors are zipped, check all other models saying sown in as the other tents mentioned above aren't they have Velcro on the bottom door.
When viewing tents recently the Virginia 5 has more windows, and so feels allot more spacious, this however may not be such a problem if spending all your time out and about,or if you want some privacy but for me on a dreary wet evening looking out at the views, over the sea perhaps this is a plus.
Comes with a porch canopy on the side, handy in bad weather as this door is full mesh.
Bedroom Pod can be dropped to the floor to allow more living space during the day if needed ( attaches by rings all round and one clip at the bottom )Again other models can't do this. Also can be removed for washing.
Negative points
No front extension with this model. Our other tent is a 2009 Gothic style Hartford XL tent (our main/week long holiday) tent and this front extension 'sort of' fits and will be good enough for us to allow extra room. Others may not agree so don't take my word on this.Store recommends trying the Icarus canopy as it has the same dimensions (Not the same colour, so not suitable for me)
Would recommend

We bought this as a second tent to use for shorter trips away. Thought the price was good but as it could only be purchased in Yeomans we didn't have anything to compare it to. The tent was very easy to put up, taking only 10-15 mins with two people but with more practice it would go up quicker. The sleeping section is meant for 5 people but would comfortably sleep 4. Plenty space in the living area with lots of clear panels to see out. We have bought the carpet to add a bit of luxury but decided on the carpet for the Minnesota 4 as the measurements were the exact same and managed to pick this up alot cheaper. Overall this a cracking tent for a family of four wishing to use it for 1-2 night trips.

Like many others on this site this tent was bought as a weekend tent that can be pitched easily and quickly. It is much more spacious than you would think. The only thing is I would say its a 4 berth and not a 5 berth as advertised. It had an outing this weekend and got battered by the wind on the Saturday night and rained on all Sunday morning and it coped with ease. Very easy to roll back up and put in the bag along with poles and pegs. For the price its a fabulous tent and considering the Minnesota 4 is the same tent but with steel poles and double the price its a steal. We hope to have many sunny family weekends away in this tent this year.

We opted for the Virginia 5 as it met our 3 main requirements: good hydrostatic head, spacious enough for a tall bloke to stand up in and cheap! I had no trouble pitching alone and we were set up in no time; the tent came down just as easily and packed away without hassle. There’s a spare pole section in the bag as well as repair strips and I even seemed to have a few pegs spare.
The living area is spacious, with three of us kicking about we didn’t feel crowded and the cabin works very well (loads of pockets in sensible places which helps keep the space organised). As already mentioned it would have been nice to have had porch-poles as standard but this is an inexpensive add-on so I’m not going to grizzle. Use of a footprint is recommended, it’s easier to clean and dry off than the tent’s sewn-in ground sheet and it helps increase the comfort factor. Although the nights were cold (temps around 0°C) and there was a bit of a breeze the tent performed well, there was some condensation but nothing to worry us.
I’d be interested to see how the tent copes with a downpour but so far I’m more than happy to spend time in this tent.
