After some tough decision making I bought my Vango TIgris 400 in smoke at a unbeatable price for £135, I bought the tent to go to France next year, and tested it for the first time this week.

I had also bought the footprint groundsheet (£20) and the carpet (£35, best internet price) for this model, which I had read reviews for, and I am so glad that I did, as the weather was not that kind to us, it was dry, but very cold, and the footprint and carpet came in handy as it was not so cold under foot.

For a novice at pitching the tent it was simple and easy to do, and only took 25mins, which was not bad for a first attempt.

The tent easily fitted 3 adults and a dog with plenty of room for our bags, also the porch/living area was very spacious, serving 3 chairs, a dog bed, cool box, table, kettle and a heater.

One thing that I would have liked is another fly sheet over the main door, but thats just me being picky.

To take the tent down was as easy as putting it up, and all fitted neatly into the carry bag. If it was as easy as I had realised, I would have done this years ago, cant wait to go out in it again before I go to France next year, and the best £190 I have spent, this tent comes highly recommended.

Just replaced my old tent with a new Tigris 400 via an Auction site, Paid £120 for it, claimed as new, only used once, this turned out to be correct as non of the tent pegs or sleeping pod had been used.

The Tigris comes with a large well made and sturdy Black Saddlebag style case, even has its own DVD on how to pitch it, very usefull indeed for the 1st time camper.

It is a slightly smaller tent than my last one but ideal for 2 of us plus the occasional grandchild, it looks a bit snug for 4 adults, but it is well made.

I am 67 years old and have just pitched it today on my own, without any help at all, from unpacking to getting up and into some sort of shape took just 15 mins, a further 20 mins and it was fully ready for action, this was all done at a steady pace without breaking sweat, a younger person or 2 people could well have done it in well under half an hour, but I was pleased with my result.

The SIG is going to be a real boon in keeping out the draught and bugs, there are little touches like being able to lower the ground sheet at both entrances, plenty of pockets, 4 internal bracing straps, Power Point entrance etc, all in all it seems to fit the bill.

I looked at this tent throughout the season when camping and asked a lot of questions with owners, I did not hear one bad word, even under adverse weather conditions it seemed to perform well, I have also heard it is advisable to purchase a footprint ground sheet, this I will do for next season.

The only small gripe I have with it is that it would have been nice to have a insect screen on both tent doors, and not just one, apart from that I am well pleased with my purchase, would recommend this tent.

I have only praise for the Tigris. We purchased one this year and have toured Scotland and Northumberland for our main break this year. We had some really heavy rain, thunderstorms with hail and some really strong winds. Not a drop of water came in. Tiger dries very quickly so even packing up wet is not a problem. 15 mins after putting it up again nice and dry. There is plenty of room for both of us to do our own thing. The Footprint groundsheet is a real boon it does make pitching and packing up so easy.

I bought this tent recently and used it for a mini break with my son and my dog. I have to say that this tent is FANTASTIC! I was able to pitch it on my own as well as take it down on my own, which is amazing in my eyes! There was plenty of room, very simple to pitch and it withstood the windy wet weather perfectly. Al in all a very good tent at a very reasonable price (I paid £150). Have to say that I did bend a couple of pegs, but I was a little heavy handed with the mallet!

We are two adults and two children and we love this tent. To us it seems massive, especially when the kids are asleep in the inner area and we have loads of room to mill around.

We have camped in really wet and windy weather and it stood up to the test. We had great weather conditions the last time we camped but had a problem with condensation. This I think was down to bad pitching.

It has lots of nice features such as the pockets to store bids and bobs in and also option to lower the groundsheet entrance.

Cant wait to go out in it again.

We bought this tent recently as a weekend tent so it would be quicker to pitch than my 2006 Colorado 600DLX.

Easily pitched by two in the wind over the bank holiday, and I also purchased the large sun canopy so that our kitchen could be stored under it.

We bought the Zinfandel/Mocha and like another reviewer has said it does stand out on the site.

We are a family of 4 and having the canopy gave us plenty of room. I don't know if I would like to do more than a week with it as a family of 4 but I will say it is definitely possible. It was quite windy while we were away and I must say the tent held up brilliantly.

We bought this in the Zinfandel and Mocha - and boy was it worth it. The tent stands out from all the regular ones because of the colour. This is a good size for us, 2 adults and a child. OK so its not massive inside, but it is certainly big enough for 3 chairs and a table etc. I particularly like the groundsheet being able to be folded up at both the porch entrance and the side entrance, no rain can or will get in. We had rain and wind the first time we used it and I am very pleased to say that the tent withstood it all. Excellent value.

We bought this tent in June and have just used it for a week in Kent. It was for 2 adults and a child. It is a small tent, and is really only big enough for 2 adults. We did find it a little cosy. The main problem I had was that the opening door (porchway door) does not have a fly net which meant we had a lot of bees. Also, the porch door makes the tent feel really small when it is closed. The tent is not of the best quality, with the bedroom area feeling like it is not big enough slightly, when we attached it to the main tent. It was pulling quite hard on the hooks. We also found that the zips on the bedroom and the smaller door (which have fly nets) kept catching which meant that the fly nets got trapped in the zip and it ripped. We paid £170 and I am very disappointed. I would not recommend the tent unless you are a couple, as 2 people really is its maximum. We have decided to buy a larger tent and one that is hopefully a lot better than this one.

As first timers for the whole camping scene, we were on the look out for a tent that was perfect for what we needed as far as size, weight etc was concerned. After looking at many tents at a couple of demonstration shows. We decided to buy the Tigris 400 for £150. The size looked great for us (2 + dog), and was just 18kg all in, it wasn't heavy and cumbersome either.

Prior to even pitching this tent for the first time, we purchased the footprint at £20, as they came highly recommended.

Having never pitched a tent before, I was nervous to say the least as I imagined it would take me forever and be extremely complicated. I couldn't have been more wrong! From start to finish it took me approx 25mins, and that is with double checking everything. I reckon pitching could be done in 15-20mins for a novice easily. It really is as simple as Unfold, Thread poles through, Lift it up, Tie it down.

The tent also looks the part. Im a field full of other tents, this really stood out. You won't be embarrassed getting into this.

Inside there is plenty of room. As said there was just 2 of us and a black lab, however we all had loads of room. I am 6'14', and could stand up quite easily inside the tent. It seems to trap the heat well aswell, and gives a light airy feel. The windows are great, perfectly clear, and again lets lots of light through. With the windows covered, it is very dark. Which is good as you do not get woke up early with the light shining through the fabric.

I would recommend anyone with a Tigris 400 to get a footprint with it. Even thought it has a SIG, we pitched on soggy wet ground, and fully expected to get soaked. Not a bit came through. Also was great just having the footprint to clean, and not the whole tent!

There are lots of pockets inside for storage space etc, which is good for things like magazines, utensils, drinks etc. We had plenty of space in the living area for 2 large seats, large table, dog bed, and all our cooking equipment. Not to mention all our clothes, bags, food etc.

It rained very heavily on one of our nights, and not a drop of water made it through. One quick tap from the inside, and all the water beads dropped to the floor.

Taking the tent down was even quicker. 10mins and it was in the bag. You don;t have to be precise in how you fold or anything like that, as the oversize bag has plenty of space. You can then tighten the cords on the bag to reduce the size of it (expelling any air).

We bought this tent on the basis that it was a trial tent for us, and would look to upgrade at some point. Little did we know, we got it right first time. We will be keeping this one for quite some time to come.

I can highly highly recommend this tent. Please also see the few pictures above of the tent on its maiden pitch by a river in Snowdon.
