1 Reviews of the Storm Shield Ultralite
By: Richardh1905 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
I bought my Ultralite several years ago in a sale for £60, as a spare tent for the kids, and it turned out to be a little gem of a tent, well designed and made. I've recently 'rediscovered' this tent, and have started using it for solo wild camping, for which it is excellent (only very good friends would use it as a 2 man).
It is a 2 hoop tunnel tent; at 2.2kg it is not the lightest, but it is certainly light enough for backpacking.
Features include :
- colour coded, pre curved alloy poles; the front pole is of the gothic arch type.
- full mesh door to the inner; keep the midges out without feeling claustrophobic.
- possible to leave the inner in place and pitch 'all in one'.
- small window and closable ventilation panel to the front.
- storage pockets and lantern hanging point.
- tensioning straps to the main guying points.
- it was supplied with cheap steep pegs though; these have now been replaced with alloy.
I've decided to give it 9/10, as it is an excellent little tent for the money.
