1 Reviews of the Pioneer 3EX

By: Ratty  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2023   Rating:

This tent came well packaged and is not too large and you can easily secure it your backpack if you are out and about for some wild camping and only weighing 3.2kg it is lightweight enough to not cause a strain.

The first time we used the tent it was well packaged and inner tent was not attached to the flysheet.

We made up the three poles and laid out the flysheet in the direction we wanted. The poles are an alloy and are all colour coded and threading them through was easy enough and they sit in a sleeve on the opposite side which stops them popping out of the loops. Just make sure you put them through the right way as the ends are different and you need the pegged end to go in the loop.

Once the poles are in, we simply pegged out the corners and ends of the fly sheet and set to hanging the inner tent. They are standard toggle fittings with clips in the four bottom corners to attach it to the flysheet. The guy lines come with tensioners that grip the guys, this is a great secure way to keep the tent up.

Once up, we found there was plenty of room inside, easily enough for two people to sit up, change after a long walk and store mucky boots plus rucksacks and we found there is enough space to cook too should you be hit by the elements. There are vents at each end and these are held open with a strap.

There is no groundsheet in the porch area, but this is not a problem for us and overall we really like this tent and will definitely use it when wild camping with two of us.

Manufacturer's Description

With comfortable living space for up to three people, the Pioneer 3EX tunnel tent is stable and straightforward to pitch. It has a single side door that leads to a generous porch area, with ample space for storage and headroom to sit relaxing during poor weather. The weight is still low enough that two people might consider it as a spacious option if unsettled weather is expected. Front and back vents create air flow to minimise condensation.
