4 Reviews of the Evo TXL

By: Urbster  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2021   Rating:

We have had the Zempire Evo TXL a five beam ,six person family air tent for around 18 months now and have used it in hot weather, very windy and very wet weather and it has stood up admirably in all.

This is a superbly made tent ( it’s a Zempire after all ) with 150D fabric and a hydro static head rating of 6000 which for a big family tent is huge and means you are not going to get wet not even a drip.

It weighs just over 30Kgs which also for such a large air tent is incredible.

It can be erected very quickly by just one person see this video( https://www.Youtube.Com/watch?v=PVSc1kYqCzE ) although it is a lot easier with two people carrying it especially at my age.

I should also add , that it comes with a three year guarantee.

The tent though is bare bones and requires a few add ons to nicely complete the set up ( it can however be used straight out of the box )

We purchased the awning wall set ( the tent is open ended and you can close it in with this three part set , a mesh or solid wall and can be converted with supplied poles into a gull wing tarp ) also the footprint ground sheet ( a must IMHO ) and the TXL universal carpet .

You can also buy a roof cover and even interconnecting tunnels to join up with other Evo tents.

I must say though that the TXL universal carpet is terrible and not fit for purpose ( Zempire have let themselves down on this one ) it is not an exact fit for the Evo TXL but they do inform you of this to tell the truth, but the thing cannot be tensioned properly and this causes ruckles which become a serious trip hazard, it also slips against the built in ground sheet certainly not safe or good by any means and the backing started to split and crack after just three trips, that though is the only minus and it is not actually an integral part of the tent in all honesty.

The RRP of this tent was £1600 but we got it in the January sales for £875 with free next day delivery and also had it on 12 months interest free credit.

The version 2 is now out ( rrp £1800 ) and I guess this played a part in the huge price reduction on the V1.

Do we like this tent ? ……We absolutely love it ! Not cheap by any means and Zempire don’t apologise for not being so but we got an absolute bargain and are so glad we did.

If you want a well made tent with great after sales service then go out and buy Zempire. Owned 2 tents and cannot fault the style and attention to detail. The EVO TXL has everything and more. Loads of nifty things to make life easy. Dark bedrooms, loads of room. Solidly made, easy to put up and take down. Huge bag so no more struggling. Been away in all weathers and it holds up to it all. Heatwaves, wind, rain. All the extras fit perfectly. Camping is so much better with this tent. Great for families and couples.

We updated to this tent in 2020 from a Hi Gear Frontier 6. We wanted the option of an enclosed front porch but with a compact size. None of the other air beam manufacturers were doing tents less than 7m long, except for Zempire. Even with the front porch door attached, the tent is a smidge over 6.55cm

I am seriously impressed with this tent. It's relatively easy to put up, which my husband is delighted with. It is so spacious & the kids have a room each which is big enough for a double sir bed & has darkened pods. No waking at the crack of dawn, winner. It stood up to a torrential downpour on its maiden voyage. I love the fact the windows are darkened & they are half mesh, which means on warm sunny days this tent is cool.

You can attach both the mesh & solid door to the porch, which is great & you don't need to take them off to pack it away as the bag is plenty big enough to get it in with the door in situ.

We used the enclosed porch for the kitchen & 'wet' area, which worked a treat. No padding grass & mud through the main living space. You can easily get 4 adults & 2 kids in the main living space, with room to spare. It's so big.

I absolutely love this tent. I'm so pleased we got it.

This is a large inflatable tent with lots of space, but its very easy to pack and move as it has a fairly compact pack size of 80 x 55 x 55cm and an all in weight of just 32kg. More than easy enough for one to both pack and erect.

Erection is super easy- simply lay out, peg four corners and inflate the five beams. It probably takes ten minutes at the very most using the supplied hand pump and its basically ready to walk into save the final pegging out.

The beam design is new on this model - it has angled inflatable beams to give a nicely sloped rather than the usual flat roof which sheds water and doesn't suffer the usual pooling in really wet weather.

There are a lot of ventilation points - a huge mesh panel at the back behind the bedroom pod, floor level vents, mesh vents in all the windows - its very comfortable in hot weather and even better if you buy the optional roof cover which blocks sunlight completely.

The bedroom is very spacious and the bedroom pod can be zipped into three separate double compartments to accommodate up to six, an optional bedroom pod in the living area gives the capacity for up to eight.

The living area is very spacious - two side exit doors which can be configured either with solid doors or half mesh/half solid. Two very big windows that are half mesh/half tinted. The living area can be separated from the porch will a full zip to the side twin layer 360 zip away door - either have it mesh or solid.

The front is an open porch which is plenty big enough for several chairs and a table - you can buy the optional awning wall for the EVO ranges too which I highly recommend. These allow you to zip on either a full mesh front wall to give an enclosed porch area or zip on the solid wall/tinted wall. This is absolutely fabulous in summer - you can sit out and enjoy the breeze with totally unobstructed views without worrying about pesky bugs. Or just know the kids/dogs can't escape. The mesh front door with its panoramic view is my favourite bit of the tent.

This is a beautifully designed tent, very well made and very easy to erect. It really looks fab on any campsite and everytime we camp in it has drawn many admiring comments.

One of its greatest attributes though is its sheer versatility - you buy links to link it to a matching inflatable gazebo (known as an aerobase) or use the links to add another tent to yours directly. With this range you can have four tents all linked via the aerobase - the combinations allowed from this range are vast.

I can't fault this tent at all - its performed faultlessly over the several long and short term camps we've enjoyed it with. I think its pretty much my perfect tent xx
