We bought this tent on impulse (having used our previous one once!) when it was on an amazing offer and are really glad we did.
It is easy to pitch, the tent alone takes about 30mins with two of us and about another 15 for the porch.
We have used it in heavy rain without any leaks, and it has withstood some wind too.
Bedrooms are large and as it is often only the two of us we take the dividing curtain down and have a four man pod for us.
The living area is big and, again as it's just the two of us, we leave down one room making it even larger.
The tent comes with poles so you can fix one of the doors as a simple porch (there are two doors opposite each other)and has a fully sewn in ground sheet.
Initially we only bought the tent and ground sheet (which we recommend - it makes packing up so much simpler) but rushed down to Go Outdoors when we were camping in constant rain to give us an area to cook in and also the carpet as we were worried about our dog's claws damaging the groundsheet. We are glad we purchased both.
So far we have not found any problems with the tent except one of the bedroom pods is missing the loop to hang the dividing curtain from, but for our needs this is no problem and something thaat could be easily enough sewn myself if it did become required. I am sure Go Outdoors would have sorted it had we asked but for a minor issue wasn't worth the drive to return it.
Very happy with this tent so far.

We picked the kalahari 8 although there is only me the wife and two young children for the space it gives you we all sleep in the same side so we can leave the other bedroom out to make the living space twice as big wich is ideal for rainy days, our picnic table easily fits where the bedrrom should go so we can all sit round the table for breakfast and dinner when the weather is poor had some great trips last year thanks to this tent can't recommend it enough

Just used this tent in Carnforth & it withstood gale force winds & very very heavy rain storms. We had very slight seam leakage but this was tiny amounts. Had to tighten guys but the tent never moved & neither did the porch.
Puts up in 30 minutes & packs away nicely.
Carpet is great. We put the picnic table & chairs inside & there is still space for little one to play.
It's warm.
Bedrooms had double aired & travel cot at one side & we split the other side for two single camp beds & it left tons if room.
No complaints - great tent.

Just had our first 2 night trip in the tent. Lots of space for our family of 4. Second night we all slept in one side to keep warm as it was not too warm outside. Still plenty of space for 1 double and 2 single blow up beds.
The tent was easy to build and pack away (took around 35 mins for each).
The space/storage compartments inside are great and along with the porch the tent is more than big enough for our family and could easily house 8 persons.
The only negative point is that 1 of the internal bedroom clips/attachments came away from its stitching but should easily be mended.
A great value tent!

This is the first larger tent I've purchased. I'm not an experienced camper. This is only my third camping holiday. We went away for 4 nights. The weather was terrible, rained nearly all the time and was very windy. The tent held up very well. No water in at all. Only had to tighten a couple of guy ropes but it would have been fine if I hadn't. I would definitely recommend getting the porch! We did all our cooking in it. The only reason I gave this a 9 out of 10 was because one of the zips broke. It wasn't because I put it up to tight. The zip came off the end. There was no stopper. I don't think this is a sign of the quality of the tent, as everything else was perfect. Highly recommend!

This is a fantastic spacious family tent. It's easy to put up and pack away - it actually goes back in the bag it comes in! There is ammple space inside for all the necessary bits, loads of kids toys and several people.
We have also purchased the porch so have even more space in the tent now. The porch is great if the weather isn't brilliant and great for leaving muddy boots in. Not difficult to put up either.
The tent has coped with very wet weather and typical Welsh winds, neither of them were a problem as the sewn in ground sheet ensures the tent is warm and snug.
This is our second tent and is definitely the better one. I would recommend it highly.

Bought this tent after we had enjoyed camping in the Mojave 5, but with 5 of us soon realised more space was needed. We have just got back from camping, where we had a rather wet and windy night, but the tent stood upto the elements fantastically, through the next day the wind was rather wild and the sewn in ground sheet certainly makes a difference, you could tell the tents that didnt they were nearly taking off !
We have the porch too which was another must after the Mojave 5 (as that didn't have a porch when we bought it, but it does now !) Definitely made camping a more enjoyable experience this time round !

We have now used out tent a lot over the last two summers, and it has survived several stormy evenings, without any problems. It is great having separate bedrooms for our three children, with lots of inside pockets in order to organise our things. The carpet makes the tent feel much warmer. We also have purchased the porch, giving us an ideal area to sit when the weather is poor. We have returned to the shop where we purchased it, and two years on feel we still have the best tent for us. We have now got it down to 30 minutes set up time - a little extra for the porch. What a great tent!

I love this tent! I only paid £130 for it, so it was a bargain too! We have just come back from 5 nights in Wales, where the weather was very mixed. The tent stood up well to the wind and rain. Whilst inside the tent, we only knew it was windy and raining because we could hear it! There was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. We arranged the bedrooms with a double airbed and clothes rail in each to keep the bedrooms tidy. There was plenty of room in the living area for our table and chairs and cupboard. The sewn in groundsheet makes such a difference to a tent, making it lovely and cosy. Would definitely recommend this tent.

Brought the tent from go camping for £220 needed a bigger tent from a four man more space after spending a rainy 5 days cooped up, had read reviews and see the ten man on another campsite. When we went to look at ten man could not believe how big it actually was and with there only being two adults a small child and a dog thought it may be too big so plumped for the 8 man. First pitch in garden to check it out took bout 30 mins did not use instructions, easy too put up no problems. Only thing was we had to take one of the internal bedrooms back the one of the doors had been sewn in wrong sideways instead of lengthways! Go camping exchanged but always check your tent before you go away. This tent is massive inside got plenty of pockets, love the fly net doors to keep bugs out as well. Had the footprint and carpet also , we will be buying the porch as well extra space amd great when raining. Overall if your looking for a easy to pitch large tent that only takes two people to put up or down, this is the tent for you. We love it

Manufacturer's Description
An updated version of the Kalahari Elite, the Hi Gear Kalahari 8 Eclipse is a spacious, stable and comfortable tunnel-style tent with two large partitionable bedrooms in a face-to-face layout, roomy enough for you, your family and all your gear.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep four at each end of the tent, in 2+2 inners with breathable polyester walls. They're made using darkened 'Eclipse' fabric that blocks out daylight, keeping it cool and dark inside so you get a better night's sleep. The bedrooms can also be removed, to give you extra storage space, or room for dirty gear.
The large living space has two large windows and hanging storage pockets to help keep it tidy, organised and liveable. Multiple vents along the roof help air flow throughout the tent.
The sewn-in groundsheet couples with the fire-retardant polyester flysheet give you a ventilated interior that's completely protected from draughts and downpours. The two doors can prop and extend out for extra shelter, or to expand your relaxation space.
Other useful features include the water-repellent zips and dual electrical cable access points. Pre-attached high-visibility guylines, reduced pole sleeves, and the sewn-in groundsheet make pitching quick and easy.
