I bought the Vermont for the space if the weather turned bad and what a great choice it has turned out to be. We have had thunder storms, gales, torrential rain and hot days and everyone has been made easier by owning this tent.
Even packing up wet was a dream as we took out the bath tub from ground sheet and backed the car up an trans shipped everything in to the car dry.
It is a lot of tent to put up on a windy day but it is stable a dry what more can I say.
We were worried by some of the poor reports on the 2007 tents but this does not appear to have carried through to the 2008 models.

I sold my 2006 Hartford XL and bought the Vermont L. I can't think of a better designed tent. The living and sleeping areas are excellent especially with the carpet fitted. The fully enclosed porch is great for cooking in bad weather/high winds. The tent erects as one in no time and uses half the pegs the Hartford did. Now for the downside, the tent was purchased from C+E Sports and Leisure in 2007 and they no longer trade. In June 2008 the tent was used for the first time in heavy rain and it leaked. I contacted Oase Outdoors (Denmark) and to their credit the service department have promised a replacement tent but this was at the start of July and I've still received no further update after emailing my details. Oase Outdoors are very difficult to contact and contact details for them are hard to find. I would have given this tent 10/10 had it not been for my problems. I'll update when the matter is resolved.Don't let this put you off however as if you buy from a well established dealer I'm sure they will resolve any problems quickly.

Great size tent lots of floor space for those rainy days! With the carpet down it begins to feel really cosy! It also give you 2 sets of living space in the front porch as well.

We purchased one of these in August last year and used it once then for the bank holiday, it was fine very spacious. This year however we were camping and it got very wet inside during a heavy spell of rain, I went back to the shop where we had purchased it and asked what I should do with a leaky Outwell Vermont we got last year, we were told to dry it out and put it neatly bsck in its bag and return it for an exchange. We are going to do this on Wednesday. The reason being that there was a leaky batch last year which Outwell are aware of and as and when they come to light they are quite happy to replace it a non leaky one from a different batch, you need to take the poles and the pegs back as well, hope this helps those of you who got a bit wet.

I spend weeks trawling through many a review and even went to shell island once I had narrowed it down to a few too find actual owners to have a chat and decided on the Vermont L and what a good choice.
Used it twice now, once in shell island in a heavy rainy storm and once in Tal y Bont in severe gales and both times it never faltered. It goes up really quickly and comes down even quicker when requested.
The rooms are ample size with plenty of built in storage and a lot of thought was placed on the interior design, let alone the outside. In the storm, tents where collapsing in front of our eyes and I was getting a little concerned about the kids as the Vermont was being punished but It stayed up and for the at reason I have written these few words.
If I had one negative, the bag could be bigger but I honestly feel if you have a family of four or more, then you wont find better.

We bought the Vermont L last summer (07), we previously had an Indiana 8 which doesn't have an SIG, so we thought the Vermont would be warmer for the children. Used the Vermont a few times last year and we were very happy with it, although we were very lucky, and didn't have any bad weather during our trips. We've just arrived home from our first camp this year, cutting our trip a day short. We had a very rough night with a lot of strong wind which the tent withstood extremely well. Unfortunately following a spell of rain this morning the bedroom area became very wet, which meant our beds and sleeping bags got soaked. We have two young children aged 5 and 18 months so we had no option but to pack up and come home which is very disappointing. The rain we had was by no means torrential and should not have caused that much water to soak through not only the ground sheet, but the footprint and bedroom pod too. All in all a big let down.

We purchased this tent after finding our super size dome tent just too awkward to pitch. It is very easy to pitch (once you remember to leave the vents open each time you pack it away) and has stood up to the worst of the British weather very well. We used it for three long weekends last year and found it offered everything a family with two young children could need. As stated by other reviewers, the porch at the front is substantial enough to accomodate the kitchen and we found it to be an ideal place to watch the sun go down once the kids were tucked up safely in their sleeping bags.
We are looking forwards to getting it out again in August for a week in Padstow.

I purchased one of these tents after seeing them pitched at our local Camping shop and liked the look of them for their size and the amount of space they have in them for table and chairs with enough room for the children to play as well. We found it easy to put up in roughly 30 mins for 2 people and easy to fold and put away back in its back. It is a little heavy but you forget about that for the sheer spaciouness you get with this tent.
We have camped in scotland with it and the weather up here isnt known for being kind some days and the tent performed really well in the wind and rain and we had no leaks or problems with the poles and stayed up exactlet the way we had pitched it.
Cant wait to use it again in june

We purchased the vermont L in may 07, after upgrading from a sunncamp vario 500.
We used it during the bad weather last summer and had no problems with it at all. It is a veryeasy to erect tent and the room inside is very spacious, meaning we dont require a seperate kitchen tent. It also fits the cc&c pitch sizes so we dont have to pay for extra pitches. The windows are superb with plastic mesh and covers and the fact they completely open allowing fresh air to circulate was one of the selling points for us. We also like the way it has 3 seperate zipped sections allowing the living area and kitchen area seperate at night. We also purchased the canopy as the only small fault was during the very wet summer the rain came into the tent, however with the canopy this has eliminated this and you can now have the front door open to let the air circulate and not get wet.
All round, A Fantastic Tent.

We had been looking at buying a new tent for sometime and we kept being drawn to the Outwell range. The Montana was the initial choice but after considering the size we chose the Outwell Vermont L. A great size tent with loads of space for us two, our two daughters and a large dog. We spent a week in it earlier this year and found it very comfortable and spacious. Enough space to house our kitchen in the front (bath tub groundsheet in the front extention) The weather wasn't brilliant, lots of strong wind and hail. The tent was sturdy and stayed down! Only complaint is that after just day one the mesh around the side door started to come away from the seams. Great tent though, well worth a viewing. Can't wait to use it again. Easy to put up and once we get the right 'folding-away' sequence it will be easy to put away too.
