I love this tent.
We had an Oregon 800 before this and loved that tent but when my friends bought the Tigris 800 last year I had major tent envy. I saw that they had fixed all the little things that bugged me about the Oregon.
It is so easy to put up, my 6 year old daughter and I did it without out any problem at all.
The flexibility of the layout is great. I was a little confused about the extra opening at end of the tent but even with all the sleeping pods up being able to open it meant extra ventilation on hot days.
The added porch stops the drips coming in so you can keep the main door open even when it's raining.
It is a little larger than the Oregon so check the size of the pitch to see if you need a large pitch.
I would recommend this tent to any one who needs a family tent. We were so sure we wanted this tent we set off on a camping trip to the Lakes without a tent and bought it when we got there.
Top, top tent.

What a cracker. Been camping for 40 years and updated my tent to a Tigris this year. Other models I have had in the past don't compare. Easy to put up (says needs two ) I put up on my own ( family coming down next day) foot print makes it easy. Loads of room had a front extension for it to use as kitchen area . Using just the one bedroom on front end . Loads of storage bags . Was used in prolonged rain and no leaks . And goes back into bag with no problems. As for the poles I found no problems with but was 2010 model so may have sorted it out . I have updated to a touring van but no way am I letting this tent go with use in summer months .

Kids love this tent as plenty of room for them to move about with stuff in it. Have recommended it to a few people. Most of you have the 2009 model 2010 is fab if you have problems then you should contact them I'm sure they can sort something out

Massive tent for your money, lots of room with all four pods in but even more with just the two and the big door at the front open.
Stood up to very high winds and heavy rain with no problems.
Unlike many tents comes with the poles to turn your side or front door into a canopy to cook under if you haven't got the side extension.
Following the Vango video http://www.Vango.Co.Uk/pitching-videos.Html it took us 1hr 20mins for our first pitch, OH reckons with some practice we may get it down to 45mins.
Packed away in 45 mins and it all went back in the bag with no problems.
Lovely little details that you keep finding like the SIG being able to fold down flat in the day to help solve the tripping problem.
Only niggles I have is that there is only a mesh door on one side and the vents above the windows are a bit on the small side so it warms up quite quickly in there. Can be a bit of a pain reaching to the corners to toggle the pods in and not much room to un-toggle these ones either.

Nice tent, shame about the poles!
A lovely roomy tent that is let down by flimsy tent poles. On it's second outing on the west coast of Scotland one of the sections of pole broke. Fortunately not noticeable until we took the tent down. Later that summer whilst camping on the continent ,another section of pole broke. Both fixed quite easily, although we used much stronger pole sections as replacements.
Have just returned from a camping trip in Cornwall(earlier than planned) because in strong winds one end of the tent collapsed, due to broken poles,(7 pole sections in all )
Probably a fine tent if you're camping somewhere sheltered but if you are likely to be exposed to the wind this tent is a waste of space!

The only thing we dont like about this is the largest inner tent is difficult to position so that it is not very close to the outer tent. You cant seem to pull the outer tent out far enough. Also the vents on the windows never seem to be open properly. It takes longer than the advertised 20 minutes to put up. We camped recently in torrential rain and had no leaks. The fully fitted groundsheet with turned up door sections makes it difficult for water or animals to get in. Plenty of pockets for storage. Lots of flexibility round the inner bedroom set up is good. It is quite heavy and difficult to carry. Light colour fabric makes early summer mornings very bright inside, fine if you dont mind being awake at 4.30! Spacious even with all the bedroom pods in. Good head clearance inside. Back door would benefit from having a fly mesh, the front door has one.

First camping expo, brought tent late in 2009 reduced. Never having put up such a large tent our trial run in the garden was essential and very recommended as at the site this helped us to put up the tent in under 40 minutes.
After a week we can definitely say that this tent is great for families. The living area being square is very flexible and the off set doors offer two walls for storage and great through ventilation on hot days. Quality of the tent seems fine although we have upgraded the pegs. Looking around and chatting to other Vango owners we really like this tent compared to the newer 2010 Vango pod style tents for two reasons: - the pod tents don't seem to get very good ventilation as most only have one usable door(unless you use a pod), Tigris has two and although we can see the reasoning for making the newer sleeping pods with black outers and grey inners, this makes for a very dark tent inside during the day. The lighter coloured Tigris feels light and airy all day and never got hot and stuffy and all 6'4' of me could stand up easily inside.
We are considering a side extension, although at present like many Tigris owners we are totally confused by the range from Vango and the apparent 'generic' nature of them. Come on Vango, enough of us have a Tigris, make us a special Tigris side extension, with a vertical door that fits and we'll sing your praises forever.

After a great deal of persuasion, I relented in purchasing a tent for our annual trip to France instead of the luxury of an 8-berth static with mod cons. The idea being we would get more use in the UK as well as abroad.
So in mid June after a great deal of research and some excellent advice from Casey’s in Chester we made the plunge for the Tigris 800 as there are five of us after all and we need lots of space! Hence, the need for the extension – an absolute must have, as is the footprint and definitely the carpet. Home from home.
After a couple of wet weekends enjoying the Welsh countryside we can confirm the pegs are no good, it does resist water well, stays up in the wind (although the extension doesn’t like the wind as much) and most of all a pleasure.
However, following our two weeks of excellent weather in Brittany (managed to get sunburn as proof that it was good!) we are a little (a lot) disappointed that we will now need to replace a number (a lot, sorry most!) of the poles. It appears that the “adhesive” securing the ferrules has weakened and only a few remain straight – whether it is because of the warm temp’s (mid 20’s), because the tent was pitched for two consecutive weeks or because you can only use them three times and you need to buy new ones we’re not sure!?
It wasn’t over tensioned, either internally or externally, there were no strong winds, only damp nights and one night of rain (nothing compared to our UK rain experiences!). Vango haven’t responded to my enquiry on their website so I guess it must be up to us to fund – they don’t tell you about this hidden cost when you purchase!

Its been a rocky ride. Like many other reviewers, we chose this tent after viewing it at local showroom. They didn't have stock, and we had a trip looming, so we picked up from a shop further afield. On first pitching TBS strap was frayed, so we exchanged it for another one. When we first pitched this one, it had a faulty groundsheet (looked like it had been ripped and repaired. Shop were fantastic about it, but didn't have another so got a refund. Bought one at local supplier in Sale, so was it third time lucky? Absolutely! Pitched for a weekend in Bala in light rain, heavier rain next day did not produce any leaks and it withstood the wind pretty well. Don't know if it's a coincidence but the new one is laurel/sage not smoke grey? As we have young kids wouldn't go anywhere too exposed anyway. One regret is that we didn't realise that some sites get a bit sniffy about the size, so we're considering getting a 5-6 for weekends and certain sites. Would recommend tent, but wonder whether perhaps Vango couldn't keep up with demand so manufacturing standards have been patchy this summer?

Fantastic, we have just returned from a few days in Buxton, it rained solid for 24 hours with added wind, the tent stood upto it no problems, although I'm suffering! watching us get a soggy muddy tent into the car must have been great fun for other campers.
Anyway, loads of room, the pods are really spacious and plenty of pockets for you to pop your night time things into, storage in the main area was really good, especially for the kids stuff, we used the fourth pod as a dressing room, which was great, in the past we have keep things in the car.
There were five of us using the tent, the kids sat and played in one of the pods, as there was so much room, there is a hole for the electrics.
Try to think which type of door you want to use when pegging out, as both side doors are different, one can be used as a roof type shelted the other doesn't, although the pods are colour coded, you could swap them no probs. I did watch the DVD, my youngest watched it 4 or 5 times! but it doesn't have enough information on it, it only shows you what most people already know by the time they are buying this size tent.
Once up, which was easy, I had to re-adjust some of the polls as the pods were tight and pulling in some areas, next time I wont tighten anything till all the pods are in, I have the porch on order, with the door, to give us some more space.
We did buy some sturdy pegs, so they weren't a problem.
Over all we are really impressed with this tent and would recommend it to everybody, I think it would be great for two people with lots of living space and using the end door plenty of space to put bikes ect, you could use the two pods and have four in there, or as we did with all four pods. Well worth the money

Manufacturer's Description
The Vango Yukon range of tents has been replaced by the Vango Tigris range - which in turn are very similar to the Nevada Range already produced by Outwell. The Tigris has a very simple 5-pole fiberglass pole structure but one that gives great head height and therefore one that gives a light and airy feel. There are also flexible bedroom arrangements and storage options a plenty plus three entrance options. The tent frame is constructed with Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 3000 Polyester flysheet (3000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts. The other key features of the tent include a waterproof exterior storm skirt, flysheet first pitching, 2+2+4 (with divider) sleeping compartments, colour coded poles, TBS tension band system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH internal polyester groundsheet, cable entry point and tidies, mesh double doors, mesh vents, pelmet and inner tent pockets, 'Crystal Clear' windows, double zip windows (for vent/light/cover flexibility), breathable fabric inner tent, inner tents and divider can be removed when not in use, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun canopy, canopy over side door, rain gutter zip covers. Saddle bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout.
Capacity: 8 people Price: £300.00 Total Weight: 25.45g Pack Size: 71x47x32cm Pitching Area: 940x500cm Pitching Time: 20min
