I am in love with my tent. I love every aspect of it. I have just come back from a week away (my first time in my new tent), with my 2 children and we experienced some of the worst weather you could imagine ever. The tent was amazing!

My Dad kept telling me that I should weather my tent, but unfortunately, I ran out of time, so decided to go for it and weather it whilst I was in it! We experienced a small leak during the torrential rain. Other people at the site however were flooded. The 30mph winds made no impression at all on the tent. It was as sturdy as it is heavy. The noise of the rain was heard, but was nothing like my old plastic tent. In fact, I would say that the noise was more from the tents around us, rather than mine.

My children had plenty of room in their bedroom, my only disappointment was that I had bought the discontinued 'kids bedroom' on ebay to go with it, and was unable to put it in, as it didn't fit the 2010 bedroom, but will try and fix that some how! The other larger bedroom was plenty big enough for 4. We had all of our bags in there as well.

The polycotton fibre kept us warm in the cold weather and stayed cool in the hot weather, especially when we opened up the windows and side doors - it was cooler than being in my house!

I had so many positive comments from people passing by, about how fabulous my tent was, and they're right! I bought the side extension too, along with the footprint and carpet. I would recommend that if you are ever camping in the rain/cold, that both of these items would be invaluable.

To cut a long story short - if you have the money, and you want to go camping for many years to come - but this tent! I AM IN LOVE WITH MINE!

Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!

What more can I say. Yes it is expensive but you get what you pay for and you won't be using the BL6 for a few seasons, this tent is for LIFE!

The whole feel of the tent is first class, from the moment you open the box it screams QUALITY! The bag that the tent comes in is the same material and style as the tent, the pegs are more robust than the standard pegs, poles perfectly made and slot together beautifully. The ZIG is a great innovation and keeps the drafts and bugs out, even though a bit tricky to find the starting point when you first pitch. And the pitching is a joy. Everything is tolerance great and there is no struggling with getting the rings into the bottom of the poles. Took me 20 minutes to pitch on my first attempt and sure I could easily do it in 10 by the end of the season. The vents and windows are great keeping the tent cooler than any I have been in thus far. Inside is spacious and light with enough pockets for any family to keep everything tidy. The inner tent clips in great and can be tensioned to form a great shape. We also bought the carpet and side extension which are bought of the same quality are really finished the tent off and make the whole space that more homely!

Only bad point is the weight of the two bags. The first bag has the outer tent, inner bedroom and front porch, which to be fair is heavy, and am glad that the straps on the bag are made of stern stuff! Then the pole and ground sheet bag. If you’re not a 15 stone beef cake like me then get an extra pair of hands, they are extremely heavy especially when lifting in and out of a trailer. But this does emphasise the quality and this thing does not move or make a murmur in the strongest of wind!

Have read a few comments about the front door on earlier models but have to say ours is perfect and very easy to open and close.

All in all great tent and glad we spent the extra. The only reason we could think off to change this tent would be to go for the Wolf Lake 7!

We bought an ex-display model, and thought it was expensive, paid around £450, we can see from todays prices is was a wise investment!

Its bulky in its bags and quite heavy but its the best tent ever.

We had not owned a tent before purchasing the BL6, so it took a few goes at putting it up before we felt confident.

We purchased a kitchen extension which is brilliant when using the tent for longer periods.Have yet to purchase a carpet though!

Spent 2 years running in a very wet Cornwall, tent kept us dry. Only leak was at the bottom of the bedroom canopy where the inside was touching the outer canvas.

The pleasure of no condensation and moisture inside the tent of a dewy morning is hard to beat.

Height inside the tent was important as my husband is over 6ft and needed all the encouragement in the world to actually try camping.

Inside the tent you feel secure, even in the worst of weather.

We bought our bl6 earlier this year from campingworld who provided us with an excellent and faultless service.

We looked for a couple of weeks and researched the tents on the market until we spotted the outwell bl6. Although the wolf lake 7 was an option but slightly too wide for us but had a batter fully enclosed canopy.

Ill begin with facts about the bl6 relating to our ownership and use.

-quite easy to erect, especially if you buy the footprint groundsheet as this will offer you the chance to see how the tent will stand within the pitch in relation to the surrounding area. Also it provides guidence when erecting the tent on it, by starting with the front two corners and working back.

-very very stable construction especially once the two lengthways poles are pushed through, tightened and secured, this gives you the govenment to reset the poles perfectly in place.

-the tent has a very understated but quality appearance, everywhere we camp, people especially our neighbours come over and have a chat about it, and always get positive comments which is always a good start to our holidays.

-one thing which is overlooked is the tents superb soundproofing. Ill explain this in simple terms.

When inside the tent it is like all other tents we have owned in the respect that you can clearly hear others outside, thats normal but the exception is that doesnt mean people can hear you so easily. We carried out an experiment which was very surprising indeed::

Whilst in the tent we put some music on and set the volume to the level to which we thought could be heard by others outside, but astonishingly no, not a peep. Secondly my partner made a phone call whilst inside the tent and spoke normally as others around were doing so and again whilst standing outside I could barely hear the conversation! what this means in reality is just because you can hear others clearly whilst inside the bl6 doesn't mean they can hear you as clearly, so on returning to your tent at 2 am providing you make a reasonable effort you can happily carry on with your evening without the common worry of disturbing your very nice neighbours! what a tent lol

- we have camped in cool weather, rain and searing heat,,

Cool evenings aren't a problem as the tent is made from cotton any heat source you use will warm the tent without stuffiness as it will breath and without any condensation at all. As with the hot weather once all the fly screens are exposed the tent is a good 5 degrees cooler than outside. Lastly the rain seems to avoid this tent completely, you can hear it all around crashing into the tents around but as if by magic the bl6 is whisper quiet! the wind is also not a factor as the tent is so fantastically sturdy and stable.

-we have found though the tent is very spacey especially without the inner compartments, open plan gived the eye a massive cosy space that would cosset any fear of small spaces due to its over 2m height.

- the all enclosed zip in heavy duty ground sheet is an absolute joy, camping without the merest whiff of a chilly draught is fantastic and very cozy on your feet lol.

-the canopy is very well designed, we found it fantastic for cover sitting under it, but the surprise is its very very effective acoustically,, by this I mean you can still sit outside your tent under the canopy as late as you like listening to the dab or mp3 without disturbing others around as the canopy reflects the music holding it around you a little like an auditorium.

= my conclusion is this/// the price is accurate, if you can afford one then buy one, you can buy anything you need later its not important really. If you've set aside money for everything consider spending it on the bl6, you will never ever look back, its possibly the best purchase I have ever made, and now my partner has realised yes I do know what I'm talking about :-)

Not been one for writing a lot so expect poor grammar, just suffice to say take all the good points from all the previous reviews. This is a brilliant tent using all the best design and materials from bygone years, non of your wibbly wobbly fibre glass poles and nylon sheets hence the weight issue. But when in use which wasn`t long after arrival on site, after a couple or so practices. My only problem was as the weather for first couple of days including during the pitching process was abysmal. I'd set up the kitchen area near to the front flat face of BL6 which ended up in a heap as gail force 7/8 winds slammed into this un-guyable part of the tent, I had to stand the kitchen 2 feet away to prevent reoccurance. If I could sew, I'd stitch some additional guying loops on as this was the only downfall of an otherwise perfect tent. This was in the Lake District but the remaining 8 days were like the beautiful weather we`ve had recently which was again handled very well ie cooler in the tent, thanks to the polycotton fabric.

What can I add to what had already been said? A truly perfect tent and I cannot find anything on any campsite to better it. Recently, it successfully managed 6 adults sleeping on 3 double airbeds. Now how many 6 person tents can actually sleep 6 adults this comfortably?

Can only give 9 out of 10 because the bags it comes with are rubbish and very difficult to pack it into. I will be buying the Outwell trolley bags but do think they could've supplied them at this price!

After a substantial downpour in Cornwall (Gwithian Farm) over the June back holiday, I can say our BL6 is now leak free and cosy as you like. The temperature increased throughout the week and the biggest benefit to poly cotton must be its habitability in warm weather.

We had the best of weeks ever and would recommend the BL to all-providing you are strong enough to carry it.

Love the tent. Very roomy. It takes approx 1 hour to put up and we bought the extension which took about 20 minutes. Instructions easy to follow and dvd on outwell's website to help.

We had heavy rain on the first day, so got its weathering, it did leak just where rolled up curtains were touching the tents but otherwise great. Canopy good for warm evenings, we use the extension for our cooking stuff. Would definitely recommend buying both tent and extension. Carpet was lovely - no ore cold toes. Foot print good so ground sheet kept clean. Opening windows are fantastic when hot.

Bedrooms good size for main room and small room .

Yes its a heavy tent, but lets face it its big, its going to be heavy.

Would recommend as great family tent.

As everyone knows by now, this is a fantastic tent.

It is simple yet well designed, spacious (especially for a family with 1 or 2 young children), reassuringly stable and quiet in the wind and rain, cool(er) in the sun and warm(er) in the cold. Polycotton rocks and I ain't never going back!

All of the positives massively outweigh any negatives I may have encountered (and I wouldn't swap the BL6 for anything else I've ever see), but here are a few points:

1. Quality control: my first BL6 went back with a fault in the weave on one panel, which had left a small hole. My second one has small pinprick holes along several seams which look like the result of untidy finishing - however, we have tested them and there are no leaks, so we are happy.

2. On the subject of leaks, whatever anyone may say, this tent does need weathering! We had a couple of small leaks during our first torrential downpour (through a panel on the windy side, and a couple of seams), but nothing since.

3. Yes, it is very heavy. And yes, the canopy would be better if it reached the floor both sides. But hey, we knew all that when we bought it so it's hardly a reasonable criticism!

Overall it's pretty much my perfect tent, easily the best I've seen or used. 9 / 10 reflects the quality control issues we experienced: if you get a good 'un, it's a 10/10 tent.

We bought our BL6 middle of last summer to replace a well used Montana 4. I fell in love instantly. Loads of space, particularly with the side awning, and much cooler and quieter than we were used to. We felt very snug in the evenings & slept soundly when the wind blew. Unfortunately, during the only bout of heavy rain the tent leaked extensively-from every seam and panel! We honestly had to bail out in the morning. After contacting the vendor the tent was sent away for testing in Scotland and returned to us after they could find no fault. Im starting to doubt my sanity and a little nervous about our first outing of the season to Cornwall. Do polycotton tents need a good down pour to 'weather' or should I purchase a 50 gallon drum of Fabseal and sleep in a wet suit? Some advice would be appreciated. Bomber.
