Just purchased the Gobi 4 because it appeared to have all the things we were looking for in a quick pitch short stay tent. Used it last weekend, end of May 09 for the first time, and we were overall very pleased with it. The sides are relatively vertical in the living area, which makes the space more usable than some dome style tents, and the overall height is more than adequate for all but the very tall. Having three doors make it easy to pitch to suit the ground and still have a door where you would like it. I paid £99 for mine and that has to be good value as it looks well made and from decent materials to me (only time will tell I guess).

The Cons:- The groundsheet is attached to the inner tent and although it covers the living area, in colder months you will get cold air passing through under the flysheet. The doors only have a one directional zip so you can't open the top half of the door for ventilation leaving the bottom zipped, but for £99 you can't expect everything.

It took us about 20 mins to pitch start to finish but I'm sure if you had to you could half that, I'm equally sure you could double it if you're not used to putting tents up though! All in all a good buy and it goes back in the bag easily!

Manufacturer's Description

An updated version of Hi Gear''s popular dome tent, ideal for weekends away with family or friends.

Hi Gear''s Gobi 4 Elite is a semi-geodesic dome style tent, with crossed-over fibreglass poles that keep it stable even in very windy weather.

It has a large front door and 2 additional side doors for easy access and total ventilation, and a fully sewn-in groundsheet that keeps out draughts, rain and insects.

The two large front windows have roll up curtains so you can let light in or keep your privacy, and front enclosed mesh vents also aid the ventilation.
