We have stayed in friends tents before but this was our first family tent purchase. We wanted quite a large tent to allow for friends and family to join us.
We purchased the tent for £249 from go outdoors. We have used the tent a couple of times and have to say we are really happy with it. It is easy to erect and once the main part is up my wife normally sorts out the bedrooms while I finish of the rest. The windows are large and let in plenty of light. I find the fact the windows roll down slightly strange but this makes no difference. The pockets on the bedrooms are very handy and keep odds and ends tidy. There is a lot of room inside for wet days and we use one of the bedrooms for storage when we are camping alone. There is mozzi mesh across doors and windows which helps air the tent on warm day. It has only rained once while camping so far but there were no problems with leaks so far. We have not used the tent in strong winds yet but with nthe amount of guy ropes and pegging points im sure it will be fine.
Overall really pleased we purchased this tent and the reviews on here helped with our decision.

Arranged as vis a vis with living in the middle. Loads of bedroom and living space.
Light weight to put up with fibreglass poles with ring and pin system. Easy to open vents and windows with bug screens :-)
We have just upgraded from an 8 to a 10 berth for our family of 6 (3 girls and 1 boy). The 3 girls had one side of the tent (space for 5), the boy next to us and we had the last bedroom designed for 3. There was enough space in our room for 2 large single airbeds with a clothes holdall between.
Hubby, 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son put it up on their own. I arrived with the other 2 in time to be supportive ;-) while they put up the porch !
We bought a porch and it is big enough for a cooker stand, table and outdoor toys.

This tent is brilliant, like many others here we also bought it in the go outdoors sale. Unbelievable value. We had a dome tent before so the only place I could stand upright was in the centre. I was spoilt with this one as I could stand up everywhere. We went for a 5 day camping trip a few weeks back and this was the first time we had used it. The weather was roasting but the tent stayed comparatively cool and on the last day it got fairly chilly about dinner time cos of the wind so we picked up the garden table and chairs we had and the six of us inside for dinner. We put on the light hanging off the roof and sat in comfort and ate. We all had loads of room in our bedrooms and the dog had a bedroom to herself. Would recommend this tent to anyone who will listen. You must buy it as it took me and my 4 year old son about an hour to put it up. Now for a tent that big that really ain't that bad.

Brought this tent in the go outdoors sale £200 and the carpet and footprint making it up to £245 all in. What a great tent, loads of space, 2 great massive sleeping pods each end, loads of wall hangers to put stuff in. Pitched up ok , it needs 2 people to pitch. The footprint is well worth £20, keeps the bottom of tent clean and no rips. Could do with a another window in side, was a bit dark. Had some very heavy wind and took it well, tightened the guys now and then. Am after a porch now

Just bought this tent from Go Outdoors in sale. Also got the carpet/footprint. Wanted the porch as well but none in stock - will be returning for that later! What a fantastic tent for the money. We have 2 small children and there is absolutely bags of space. It's also an absolute dream to erect - my hubbie and I are both small so one of the main criteria for us was that it would be simple to put up. First time it took us just 45 minutes to put up the tent bedrooms and to peg it (we needed a small step to get the bedroom tents up!). We both said afterwards either of us could have put the tent up single-handed if weather conditions were favourable. I agree it's a little dark inside and this will only be worse with the addition of the porch, another window would be great. But this is the only reason I've given the tent 9 and not 10.

We have had 3 successful holidays in our Kalahari 10 this year, and have kept warm and dry in some really heavy rain. I have had some problems getting the elastics to reach when fitting the bedrooms, and have now bought some extension elastics to help, am I doing something wrong, or is this a common problem? A porch will be available from Go Outdoors in the spring next year, but if you cant wait till then, you can buy one from Gelert stockists for the Beyond Meridian 10, which is exactly the same tent, and can be purchased for as little as £62.99. We have found the tent really spacious even for our family of 7, still managing to keep a bedroom free for luggage etc, well worth the money, and looks impressive when on the campsite!

Brought this from go outdoors for £200. It took myself and my husband about 1 hour to put up. The worst part was threading the poles through and then standing them all up, in the wind and rain this is not easy. Once the tent was up and pegged down, the bedding area was easy. This is a very spacious tent, the kids had there own play room for there lego. Lots of pockets. The fly nets are excellent our old tent did not have any (lots of wasps near our tent but could not get in). We had heavy rain and wind for a couple of hours. No leaks, comes with a repair kit in case. The only downside is when you open the doors and the water drips in the tent. We took old towels to mop up. Would recommend this tent especially at this price.

Just got back from 3 days camping in Malvern Worcestershire . We bought the Kalahari 10 tent and porch having upgraded from the Zenobia. The Zenobia is a brilliant tent but we wanted something slightly bigger. We erected the marquee/tent, my god its big, but beautiful. Its just as easy to put up as the Zenobia even in high winds. I know its a few quid more but worth every penny. We love it. I think with both these tents you do need the porch which is so good for storage/cooking. There are about 65 pegs to knock in and pull out and I found this a real bind. Someone suggested the screw in pegs using a cordless drill. We bought 40 to try them out and they are the best thing ever. No more knocking in pegs for me. Went straight out and bought 2 more boxes. . They screw straight in, even in hard ground, reverse the drill to remove them and they pop straight out. We removed all our 65 pegs in about 5 minutes. They are a must. Please try them and you will never go back to knocking in pegs again! They work out at about £1 each or less if you buy online.
Just to finish off big thanks to Blackmore campsite. It was beautifully clean. The staff were very helpful and we hope to visit again soon.

We have just spent our 1st time away in this tent also at Rivendale and what a nice tent this is. We slept 7 with ease 3 adults, 12yr old, 15yr old and 17yr old. Loads of space for storage and a plus is that you can separated sleeping compartments with removable walls. Very easy to erect, we had rain and wind and were kept dry and safe. Would like to find an annexe/extension for door opening would make it easier if its wet rather than going straight into tent. We paid £189.99 from Go Outdoors a real bargain. This is definitely a tent to have, it is huge.

Great tent plenty room well made easy to put up and it even fits back in to its own bag. Well vented for summer (what summer) but its a cold tent, the vents do not close properly making it very hard to heat up inside off tent. We had it up in Glencoe, it was -5 at night, we were really cold even with a elec radiator on all night. Radiators no good in tents, get a blow heater but make sure you get one that switches off if its bumped. We had a few really good holiday in this tent, never had any problems and we did really like it even when we were cold. You can pick these tents up for great prices, very good value. We also had the canopy which are a bit of a pest to put up and get to fit, but they give you a good big area to cook and eat in. I prefer to use a utility tent though

Manufacturer's Description
An updated version of Hi Gear's extra large tunnel tent, perfect for relaxed family camping holidays.
The Hi Gear Kalahari 10 Elite is a spacious and stable tunnel-style tent with two large partitionable bedrooms in a face-to-face layout, roomy enough for you, your family and all your gear.
Pre-attached high-visibility guylines, reduced pole sleeves, and sewn-in polyethylene groundsheet make pitching the tent quick and easy.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep five at each end of the tent, and have breathable polyester walls. Bedrooms can also be removed, to give you extra storage space, or room for dirty gear.
The huge living space has two large windows and hanging storage pockets to help keep it tidy, organised and liveable. Multiple vents along the roof help air flow throughout the tent.
The sewn-in groundsheet combined with the fire-retardant polyester flysheet (with 4000mm hydrostatic head) give you a fully sealed and ventilated internal environment, so you'll be completely protected from draughts and sustained downpours. The two doors can be propped and extended out to use for extra shelter from rain or stretching the space out for more room if it's sunny.
Other useful features include the water-repellent zips and an electrical cable access point.
