We have had a few small/medium tents over the years and have recently upgraded to a bigger tent, the Outwell Montana 6. After our first use of the tent last weekend we are really impressed. There is plenty of space and handy storage. We invested in the front extension also which I would highly recommend, it provides a large outdoor sheltered area, great for BBQ's/cooking when the weather not too friendly! The tent as a whole provides a very comfortable living space allowing for plenty of room even when we had our table and chairs inside. Plenty of handy ventilation pockets on the windows ensure the tent stays cool also.
Easy enough to put up but would recommend a practice run first!I agree with other reviews that the tent does take up quite a lot of space in the car but I guess this is to be expected given the size of the tent!
Would highly recommend the tent, don't think we'll be changing in a long while!

I've used this for a few years now, both for weekends and a week of camping. I'm very fussy with my equipment and over the years I've changed a lot of it, but not the tent. The Montana 6 is just brilliant. We have 2 kids and it gives us plenty of room and is easy to pitch. Its stood up to gales and really hot weather. The only negative I'd say is the front slopes and when it rains, it drips in every time the front door is opened. Its about time they fixed this, as its definitely a design flaw, but getting an extension or awning or canopy solves this problem ( at extra cost and set up time)

My wife and I were totally new to tents when we bought our Montana 6. I had done some research prior to purchase and with the British weather being how it is we were aware of the need to have something that can perform in all weathers and what a good choice we made.
Every occasion we have camped its rained from light drizzle to heavy downpours and the Montana takes it all.
Its easier to erect the tent if there are 2 people but can be done by one person on their own once you have the knack. We found it easier to have the front door open and start erecting from the front so that when you stand the poles up it allows the air to drawn in. A couple of pegs on the front guy ropes and away you go. You need to put the bottom pins into the poles before the tent is clipped to the poles allowing you to work the slack from side to side.
The side porch is a god send allowing wet shoes etc to be taken off prior to entering the tent its self.
Our next probable purchase will be a front canopy to allow front door to be open without rain bleaching in.
All in all we're very happy with our tent and would recommend it to others

We recently purchased this tent from Yeomans upgrading from a Colorado V plus, we quite honestly cannot fault this tent we had a long weekend in Norfolk and towards the end of the stay it got very windy at which point a lot packed up and left but our good old monty was perfect with no problems at all including the extension which is a must have I feel. Space wise it is great, the new addition of being able to have the blinds half down is a brilliant idea for early mornings and late evenings when a little more privacy is nice to have. No wonder this is Outwell best seller. 10 out of 10

Montana was fine while it lasted! I first used it in June last year and have used it 6 times until May this year. A bit heavy to erect, but a good, roomy tent.
Unfortunately on it's last outing one of the steel poles broke and another bent collapsing the tent and ripping the canvas.
Outdoor Action, from whom I purchased the tent haven't answered my e mails and Outwell have answered, but have been totally unhelpful.
I reckon a tent of this reputed quality and price should last longer than a year - damage to the canvas and groundsheet is inevitable and I would expect to make repairs to them, but I don't expect steel poles to break with the attendant risk of injury! The manufacturers blurb maintains that these things are tested.
I notice they have made modifications to the front end of the 2011 model and strengthened the part where my tent failed - I wonder how many others have had this problem?
I certainly will not be buying another Outwell as I'm not impressed with the quality of their product and even less so with their after-sales service.

I borrowed this tent from a friend as me and my partner were going away to the lake district for the first time with our dog and we didnt know how he would react to camping and thought that using our tent he may try and sneak out under the fly sheet during the night.
This tent is extremely spacious, both sleeping area and living space, with fully sewn in ground sheet is superb, it stops insects/dirt/wind/water coming in and in addition the porch area is superb this means you can leave any muddy shoes etc there and walk inside keeping the living area clean. We had four adults, a one year old boy and two dogs in here in an evening and there were still plenty of room. The sleeping area can be two separate rooms or one large one, we kept it as two one to sleep in and one for our clothes etc.
If only me and the misses had a spare £500-£600 we would most certainly go out straight away and buy this tent. It is like a small home.

I've had a few Big tents, but the Montana 6 for a Family of 4 or 5 is hard to beat. Its steel frame maybe be heavy, but been in the through a good few Scottish gales and she sit sits there proud, where the rest of the site is in pieces. Loads of space, loads of everything, great base tent to Build on. I also have the front Canopy, which to be honest, is the best thing I've bought for it , just that wee extra bit of protection. Love this tent and intend to for years to come, 3 1/3 yrs of bliss.

The perfect family tent. Good sized bedrooms, perfect living area. Nice little doobries, like built in pockets, windows, vents and handy loop hooks. You could go on holiday for two weeks in the tent, in rain and not feel claustrophobic. Add the awning and carpet like we have and you'll be living like a king, while Mr Argos-Tent-Buyer looks on in envy. Don't bother looking elsewhere.

After an emergency trip to a camping store in Ambleside to buy replacement carbon poles for our Pro-Action tent which had been damaged by strong winds and heavy rain overnight, we spotted a Monty 6 in their display area and fell in love with it immediately! After returning home a week or so later we spent months researching it online and eventually decided to buy one in the winter sales. We couldn't be happier with our choice.
I can honestly say it's the nicest tent I've ever owned. With there being just the two of us we have so much space, both in the living area and the sleeping pod, one side of which we keep as a dressing room. It really does feel more like a home than a tent.
We took it for its first outing in April this year and the weather was glorious. When completely zipped up the tent does get extremely hot inside, but at least that meant that any sneaky flies trapped within its walls perished long before we returned from any of our days out! However it didn't take long to cool the tent down again due to the ability to roll up the windows and doors either completely or partially, leaving the insect mesh in place. Being able to open/mesh the side windows, side doors AND the main front door was a real bonus, allowing us to let in as much or as little fresh air as we pleased.
I have to admit we struggled slightly during our first attempt to pitch the Monty 6, but that was down to it being our first attempt. The assembling part was very straight forward, but our hoisting aloft technique needs a little practice! Having pitched it once though we now know what to do to make the pitching process easier next time.
The construction is very sturdy and gives you the impression that it could stand up to pretty much anything Mother Nature could throw at it. All in all the Monty 6 is the perfect tent for couples wanting a little extra space to luxuriate in or for active families to stretch out in.

Had a few tents before getting the Montana 6. This is my favourite so far. Its so sturdy. Everything sewn in, so no crawlies creeping in at night to freak my teen out! (and keeps the dog in) Bedrooms size is ample, Porch big enough for storage, and plenty of exit doors. Easy enough to erect after a couple of practice runs. Nice big windows to let in plenty of light too. Storage pockets are a godsend. Just purchased smaller Oakland for shorter trips. Have come to the conclusion Outwell is our favourite manufacturer.
