The Kalahari 8 is a fantastic tent great living space and really good sized bedrooms. Really easy to put up and the porch is a fantastic addition for space. Can tell you its storm proof after a very wet weekend in Dorset. Would recommend this tent and very reasonable price. The hi gear range has nearly everything that co ordinates with the tent

I love my kalahari 8 for the space and stability. Been so comfortable in it for a week, not bad for first time campers in our 50s. We stayed for a week on golden sands at Mablethorpe and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to camp again. We got the kalahari this year because of the space inside it was really warm and comfortable all week and was easy to move about in as it as full head height all through the tent. Only two of us so was able to keep it really tidy all week just like a home from home, really love it

Superb tent, very spacious and easy to erect as all 5 poles go in the same direction. It is a tunnel tent and we did not need to stoop once inside tent at all. It has very useful pockets to hang frequently used items e.G camera and toilet paper. Currently they are on offer for £199 but we paid £299 and even that was a bargain. Go and buy one!

Upgraded to this because of the price in go outdoors (£199). Old tent was a 6 man dome and was a nightmare to put up-this one, easypeasy.2 Adults 1 Teenager and 2 kids put this up in 20 minutes. Great thing is being able to leave the rooms in when you take it down. Just come back from Devon (on top of a cliff) and the wind and rain from the tail end of hurricane Bill did it's best, but this thing stayed up (where others lost theirs).Good room inside, hanging pockets very handy. The bug nets on the doors and windows really good (loads of wasps).Excellent value for money. Only downside is putting it away, the air stays trapped inside so can be a bit of a trail getting it back in the bag supplied. Have resorted to using a bigger bag from an old tent, but otherwise ace value, no need to get the 10 man, and it fits most sites pitches without extra charge.

My daughters tent.Went away with her to help her erect.Took ages to erect as weather was bad, heavy rain and windy.Plenty of room inside tent. Was very windy in the night and tent was ok.It did blow a bit but nothing moved.Had very heavy rain and watched the rain hit the top of the tent and just run off. If I was buying a tent I would consider Kalahari 8.

Wow got tent from go outdoors after much deliberations and just back from our first trip camping ever as a family. Tried it out first to practise setting up and yes even for novices like wife and me done in about half hour. Even quicker when done second time but think would be difficult if too windy, may need a helping hand. Really loved the tent we went as 2 adults sharing one room and two teenage girls had room each. This meant we had 1 room 4 luggage etc which was great as kept living section clutter free and spacious. Pockets and storage areas ace and we found it reasonably easy to put back in bag if you take your time and dont try and rush it. All in all we delighted with the tent and would recommend to anyone, we cooked inside just coffee etc as was so windy and would love it if hi gear bought out a porch for this tent if anyone hears please, please let me know or can anyone advise of any other that would fit ?

First time family campers we went to Go-Outdoors and after much perusing and tent review reading here and elsewhere decided on the Kalahari 8 at £199. The guy in Go-Outdoors actually persuaded us away from another tent due to the bug free zone of this tent (he showed us some bites he'd got in a non bug free zone tent!).
Great tent and fairly easy to put up. Me and my wife managed it in just over 30 mins. Not bad for first time. Packed away fairly well - managed to get it back in the bag anyway. Ton's of room and as the fella said when he sold us on it 'you can always take one of the bedrooms down during the day and store in the other bedroom giving you more living space if needed on wet days'.
Really looking forward to going away again. Just need to buy lot's more equipment! Apparently Hi-Gear don't do a porch for this tent, but Kyham do one that fits - or so we are reliably informed. If I manage to find one that fit's I'll post details here for anyone wanting one.
One point to note are the 2 drawstring pocket type holes on the ground sheet (assume for releasing air when putting down?). I would recommend putting ant powder down them when erecting and tying them off properly as we had ants come in one of them after pitching on an ants nest! Just in case you are as unfortunate as we were.
Would definitely recommend this tent to anyone and have to friends and family.

We have just upgraded to this model from a small 4 man basic tent. Like other reviewers we got it for the bargain price of £199 from GoOutdoors.
Our first pitch was in high winds with just two people - took about 1 hour 10 minutes but we were definitely hampered by the winds. We were battered constantly for two days by the wind and rain, despite other tents failing around us this took everything that was thrown at it and kept us warm and dry.
Second trip was with four people and took just 30 minutes.
We use it as a four man at the moment so don't zip the dividers into the bedroom compartments. The bedrooms are very roomy with plenty of storage space and inner pockets.
When it's time to pack up again it is a straightforward matter.
Had two wonderful weekends away within a month of buying it and hope to enjoy many happy holidays! We had never camped before until July this year and are now addicted - the kids just love it!

I love this tent. I have to admit that I was and still am a little bit of a camping novice but this tent is great. My husband and I were looking for a tent for a while but I wanted a specific type and wasn’t going to cave. I just happened to look on the Go outdoors website and saw that this tent had been reduced. That Saturday we drove over from Worcester and brought one. As per the instruction we set it up on our local field. It took me, my husband and my father in law 30 Mins to put up on our first attempt. We had our first camping holiday with it this weekend (August 22nd -23rd). With just me and my husband it took 40 mins and that was including all the guy ropes. We only put the one bedroom up as there are only the two of us and a dog. The tent withstood a fair bit of wind as we were on the sea front. We were also able to cook in it although it advises you not too. My advice is to go and get one now….5 poles and your done….Great!

I have a family of 6, including 4 adults and 2 between 11 and 13, so space in a tent is in demand, the Kalahari 8 has plenty for short or long term uses. There is plenty of headroom, and the bedrooms are a good size and also high enough for a 6 footer like me to get dressed in comfortably. The living area is large enough for a table and six chairs although I don't recommend full occupancy whilst cooking breakfast.
For ease of erecting you couldn't ask for anything easier in this size tent, it weighs 28 kg and has 5 poles , all the same size. It took my son and I about 10 mins to get the tent up and another 10 to dress the guy lines and peg out. It has 20 guy ropes, which may sound a lot but we woke up in a force 5 gale and the tent did no more than flutter.
Taking the tent down was as easy as putting it up (remember NEVER to pull the poles, always push them out, and always use a peg extractor , NEVER pull the tent). Remember we decamped in a very strong wind and you will see why I was pleased to get the tent in it's bag in about 20 minutes.
The little design features I found helpful were the totally stitched ground-sheet - so no draughts, The zipped holes to allow electrics to be passed into the inners without fuss, and the pull tie holes in the ground-sheet to allow the inners to be pegged in the centre and then sealed to prevent any water ingress. Overall I found this tunnel tent layout and design to be the best I have used of its kind. The side door entrances (one either side) and bedrooms either end made it feel bigger and, unlike some tunnel tents I have used, there was no feeling of claustrophobia or vulnerability.

Manufacturer's Description
An updated version of the Kalahari Elite, the Hi Gear Kalahari 8 Eclipse is a spacious, stable and comfortable tunnel-style tent with two large partitionable bedrooms in a face-to-face layout, roomy enough for you, your family and all your gear.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep four at each end of the tent, in 2+2 inners with breathable polyester walls. They're made using darkened 'Eclipse' fabric that blocks out daylight, keeping it cool and dark inside so you get a better night's sleep. The bedrooms can also be removed, to give you extra storage space, or room for dirty gear.
The large living space has two large windows and hanging storage pockets to help keep it tidy, organised and liveable. Multiple vents along the roof help air flow throughout the tent.
The sewn-in groundsheet couples with the fire-retardant polyester flysheet give you a ventilated interior that's completely protected from draughts and downpours. The two doors can prop and extend out for extra shelter, or to expand your relaxation space.
Other useful features include the water-repellent zips and dual electrical cable access points. Pre-attached high-visibility guylines, reduced pole sleeves, and the sewn-in groundsheet make pitching quick and easy.
