2 Reviews of the Aldi 3 Man Igloo
By: Caligula Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
The above review by Bikerbutch is interesting, and must qualify mine.
This is an incredibly cheap tent and its build quality will reflect this (untaped or non welded seams, lightweight materials etc) which is all fine or to be expected in such a cheap tent.
I was amazed to read that is had been so waterproof, as I wouldn't trust it in decent rain or any wind.I haven't used mine in either. It is a play tent or festival tent or a cheap sleep out in an emergency or occasional use
Comfortable for 2 sizewise, fiddly to assemble, and quite heavy and large packed for what it is. (2.5-3 kg and over 2 foot long x 9'??
But for the price.

This little Igloo tent I found in Aldi for I cant remember if £24.99 or £29.99 but definitely under 30 quid.
We used it to go to the Hay festival for almost 2 weeks and it rained, every single day. We occasionally had an hour here or there without rain but day and night, it rained, heavy too. And this tent was bone dry inside. Never let a single drop of water inside, where our friends lichfield tent, gave in and leaked.
It is a 3 man tent, and I can see it would sleep 3 people but it would be cramped, and as far as I can see there wouldnt be much room for luggage, but its reasonably comfy for a couple. Not big enough to stand up in only kneel. And the door is slightly shorter than the inner tent entrance, slightly annoying when going for a wee in the middle of the night and you take your own head off getting out but.
I cannot recommend this tent enough. Bone dry, windproof, warm enough id say for spring and summer, the vent in the top of the outer tent does not close, so it doesn't retain very much heat but once zipped up in a sleeping bag caused us no problems as it certainly is wind proof with very little draft.
The only gripes, as above, would be the 'porch' area, doesn't have any groundsheet, and after few days of non stop heavy rain, we found we had to move the tent away from our own muddy trail in and out. And its a little small on height, being a big lad, it was a bit of a squeeze, but I managed, and the gf who is barely 5ft could almost stand up in the main tent.
