5 Reviews of the Cantera 12

This is a great tent, which I bought second-hand. We've used it a lot over the last few years (about 4 times a year from March to September) and it never leaks (touch wood) and nothing has needed repairing yet.

It offers a huge amount of space and actually fits back in the bag when you fold it up. It takes two or three people about 40 minutes to get it all set up properly. Colour coded poles, and adjustable straps to make pegging out easier. You're supposed to tie the outer sheet onto the erected structure (with little ties that are attached the the sheet) before you peg that out, which is a bit of a pain.

Like any tent, I wouldn't want to fill it to its supposed capacity (12), but it would comfortably sleep two people in each pod (so, 8 people in total). Maybe 3 kids per pod. The living area in the middle is also very big. We've had people sleeping in there when they left their tent poles at home. You can stand up and walk around with loads of head-room to spare. You could easily fit a table and chairs in there with room to move around, but you might want to use an extra mat/groundsheet on the floor to protect the built in ground-sheet in that case. There's a zip near each door for electric hook-up. It doesn't look too enormous from the outside, so we always get away with paying for a single pitch, but then we only usually have one person per pod. We've used it in windy, rainy, and cold conditions, and it's been fine.

Two doors/porches, so you can use one for access and the other for storage or cooking etc if you like.

If this one wears out, I'd happily buy the same brand again.

Fabulous tent, worth every penny, and it holds its price. Very spacious bedrooms so you can house all your clothes in as well. HUGE living area for table chairs toys etc, Great height everywhere. Front and back door - one end we used as the kitchen area, the front porch ideal for keeping wet boots and shoes. With it being double skinned keeps lovely and warm and dry at night (and bug free!). Aztec have a good name and certainly is quality made. I could go on and on!. You certainly wont be disappointed.

We bought this tent as an upgrade from our previous one due to the large living area (always handy with children when it's pouring outside!). It is absolutely fab! The bedrooms are all very generous and with two porch areas, one can be used for storage or a portaloo. There are only two downsides that we found - firstly, it takes a while to put up due mainly to it's height and the thousands of pegs and guy ropes needed; secondly, it's a very large area to keep warm so we're investing in a carpet and heater. But I'd definitely recommend it to large families. Like the other reviewer, we found it stands up really well to weather conditions and this will definitely be our 'forever' tent!

This is a great tent .Plenty of room for a large family .The back porch acts well as a loo (well did for us )

The tent got a real bashing from gales and stood up really well we stayed dry and warm unlike some campers .

The front porch is great for storing a pram and loads wet gear as well as cooking equipment .

I have to say that I think this is one of the best tents on the market. I used to have the older version of this but have recently got the newer version as we liked it so much. I even sold my old one on ebay and got near enough back what I paid for the new one so it held its price well.

It is very spacious sleeping 12 although we have had 15 in it at one point with the extra people sleeping in the middle. The bigger front porch with the side door is much better especially when it rains and is ideal for storage of wet clothes, shoes etc. This tent is lovely and warm at night having a sewn in ground sheet. I have never experienced any leaking form this tent and it is easy to erect with the inner pitched first. Our friend has an outwell tent which although it has a SIG it is very draughty.

The only downside is that some greedy campsite owners have tried to make us pay for two pitches due to its size. It is best to say that these campsites are not worth entertaining!

This tent had stood some very windy conditions and whereas other tents have ripped this one had no damage after near gale force conditions. Very stable in high winds.

I hope to camp in this forever.
