1 Reviews of the Single Pole Tipi 5m
By: Ste and Heather Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2006 Rating:
These outstanding Tipi's are made to order and is sent to you within two weeks. This is really back to nature and well worth the investment. I had a bit of trouble with the description as although it can accommodate up to twelve adults in sleeping bags sleeping around the pole my husband and I use it just for ourselves and any friends that want to come with us. We have a queen size air bed and there is still enough room to fit in two more.
There is no inner or room dividers as such but a room divider can be bought separately. It is quite simple to pitch but we needed a few attempts to get it down to 10-15 mins as the website suggests. You peg down the groundsheet then lay out the canvas on top, peg that down, unzip the door join the single pole together then simply guide it to the middle cap and lift into place. We also attach our candle chandelier at the same time as slotting the pole into place then bring in the log burning stove again slot the flue in place before slotting it through the purpose made gap at the centre top. The log stove raises the indoor temperature by 15 degrees and the candles by a further 5 degrees, and holds the heat so well that in summer months we lift the sides of the tipi (looks like its floating) so we can cook without getting too hot!
A cosy and comfortable nights sleep, with plenty of standing space. The Tipi stays warm for around an hour and a half after the last embers have died out so warm clothing and a thick duvet in winter months is needed. During the summer we use a standard thin duvet from home. The best part about the Tipi is waking in the morning the soft glow from the sun through the canvas is quite unlike the hot harsh sunlight in a standard poly tent. And is completely relaxing. The Tipi is made from army standard canvas and so is breathable - it is cool in the heat of the summer and warm and cozy in winter. As the log burning stove is inside there's no need to worry about the rain. And the cone shape of the tent is adept at standing up to the wildest of British weather, the wind simply wraps around it as there is no flat edges for the wind to buffer against. The pole has a few inches of give to allow for this further, but this serves to make the structure studier.
If you like to hike to where you camp it may be a bit heavy as it is weighty (23.5kg) what we usually do is drive to a campsite set up and if we want to explore further we take our two man tent. If you have children, pets or just like a bit of boho relaxation then this is the Tipi for you.

Manufacturer's Description
Made out of the same high quality unbleached cotton canvas as our Bell Tents this 5 metre in diameter tent is perfect for those who fancy the Tipi look.
It’s the same high quality construction as our bell tents with the added advantage of being able to open the vent at the top.
Lightweight but strong 285 g/ m²) high quality cotton canvas (think of new denim jeans thickness) All packs down into matching canvas bag small enough to go on the back of a motorbike/ Smart Car. (approx 80cm - 35cm - 35cm) Fabulous unbleached Colour (no bright white nightmares) creating a iconic silhouette and giving a warm and gentle vibe inside Material is treated to be water, UV and mould resistant for up to 60 weeks constant use. (then you re-proof costing around £10) Takes 2 people around 8 minutes to erect (its actually faster than the bell tents as there are less pegs to put in) Can be erected by one person in around 12 minutes (Be aware the first time you erect your tipi it takes around 1/2 an hour as the guy ropes need threading and attaching but this is a one off job) Waterproof ground sheet is octagonal, made to measure and is pegged down to stop it being blown about. The walls have an 8 inch waterproof flap that tucks under the ground sheet to stop wind and rain creeping in. Loosen up the sides and open the cone vent on hot days to let the breeze through (No more “melting” at festivals!!!) Beautifully made, quality build Heavy Duty Zipped front door for fast access We've found that as long as the weather is not blowing a gale the tipi tents stands up fine without the guy ropes. This is really useful if you're in a rush or at a spot where space is a premium. (Works well at festivals at stops the tent becoming a flytrap for drunken wanderers) Walls roll up for ventilation on a scorching afternoon. Can be fitted with our specially designed Tipi stove
