4 Reviews of the Blacks Aquila
By: Ddavies Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
Bought one in a Blacks 'closing down' sale, when doing a lot of camping (working away from home). Got this for the increased height over my Vaude Hogan/Mark tents, I could actually sit in the porch in a chair. Yes it's a lot heavier (6 or 7 kg, I think) but it's really a car camping tent. Included lights are background only,no good for detail or reading but handy for getting into bed. Plenty of room, fairly quick to pitch.

Agree with all the other comments, I was extreamly pleased with the tent and used it for several scout camps and private camping. No problem until last year taking down the tent in a rush (with young help )one of the poles became damaged. I thought no problem being a Blacks tent so phoned Blacks and got through to an unhelpful woman/girl who informed me that spare poles are not available but she could give me an address to get any rips repaired ? Not what I wanted to hear. Such a shame when I can still get spares for my old Litchfield and Vango.

Top class tent the Constellation Aquila, was on the market at £119 but got a show model for under £50, it has 3500 hydrostatic head, with easy erect and is only 6.5kg easier to carry on Motorcycle camping. The lights work real well.
It is tall enough to not have to crawl into which is a big plus, the outer can be erected and disassembled first/last keeping the inner dry I also like the way the live in area groundsheet is joined to the sleeping compartment making it easy to fold up keeping the bedroom dry.
Also the outer has a uv resistant coating and really does stop the inner getting to massive temps on a hot day, this is the best mid sized tent we have had in the last 30+ years. Enough room for 2 and the bike panniers and kit.

Brilliant tent, high water repellenancy of 2000mm, stood up very well to high West Wales winds and a day of heavy rain and kept me nice and warm at night. Light in the day and good led lighting system included for night. Plenty of room for two but could fit three easy. Nice colour and high viz guy lines. Plenty of room to store equipment, had all my fishing gear, food camping stove etc and could move around easy. Has three doors, main door at front and two side entrance, three windows front and sides. As I said stood up very well to some terrible weather, no leaks, easy to erect with one person but a breeze with two. Strong and sturdy, has three poles that form an arch on sale at the mo so go & get one.

Manufacturer's Description
After a gruelling day thrashing the bike or whipping round the winding trails, you'd be forgiven for wanting to escape the elements. And where better to take shelter than in the cutting-edge Aquila tunnel tent?
Fully equipped with innovative technologies such as a Silverskin fabric with UV coating to keep you shielded from the sun and a 2000mm Hydrostatic Head to repel the rain, it's reliability and longevity are second to none.
It's also great with company as it sleeps up to three people, erects effortlessly and features a spacious porch for drying wet gear and cooking al fresco. Camping in high humidity isn't a problem either since the three exterior doors encourage air flow throughout.
Even more impressively are its multi-directional L.E.D lights inside and out helping you locate your gear after sundown. Well, there aren't many street lights in the middle of nowhere.
