Still camping in mine. Needs a patch after this weekend. (September 2020) I had this for my 9th or 10th birthday so that makes it 48-9 years old.(1971?) Great little dependable tent. Being entirely cotton means it isn't sweaty and I still love the smell of her that recalls all the holidays I've had.I used to see many of these tents around in the early days and did my DOE with two other girls in a shared Major. (This is a Minor).

The GC Minor was introduced in 1962 reputedly by popular demand. However I camped a lot in the 1960s and 1970s and cannot remember knowingly seeing one. They were still listed in 1975 but had been dropped by 1979
Initially the side walls were 12” high but this was later changed to 9” according to the catalogues.
I think this was a backward step. The floor size was 7’ x 4’ and they were listed as being suitable for 2 people. The reduced wall height brought the roof very close to your head and feet and I suspect there was a danger of either touching the roof and causing a leak in wet weather.
I would take 7’ as being the minimum length for sleeping without causing leaks during your sleep. However the tent size leaves no space at the ends for storing your rucksack. Generally you need 2’ width to have a comfortable sleep without bumping into your sleeping companion. Where do you put your clothing and cooking gear?
I would class it as a single person tent and sleep diagonally to keep away from the roof.
The angle poles on the photo are not standard Blacks poles. The tent came with an upright pole and I made angle poles to suite.
The document hanging on the guy shows details of the tent as it was on display at the time.
You can get an idea of the age of the tents by the colour of the groundsheet. They were green up to about 1967. In 1970 they had changed to blue and by 1975 they had changed to grey
