5 Reviews of the Indiana 8
By: Murder within tent Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2006 Rating:
I bought mine second-hand for about twenty five quid! The brief I had was to find something that my son could stand up in. At 6ft 4, that was quite a tall order, but the Campus accomplished it admirably. It was quite a big and bulky package but it fitted in the car OK.
It was quite straightforward to pitch although I remember it being a bit flappy with wind noise. It did everything we required of it. Using just one end of bedrooms gave us a huge living space and the front end could be opened up as a canopy/veranda, too.
We had a great week away, cycling around Norfolk/Suffolk that week and it was a pleasure to have space to spread out a bit, too.

We've only owned this for a month or so, having bought it from eBay.
It is very spacious, although as with most tents I think the 4+4 is generally based on 2 adults 2 children in each room. Whilst you could get 4 adults in each bedroom, they would have to be very good friends!
There is three of us (two adults, one child) and we fit into one bedroom easily, all of us on air matresses.
The tent can be a bit of a challenge to put up in high winds, although we managed ok with the three of us in a 25mph wind, so it can be done - and nothing ripped or snapped in the process.
The pegs it comes with are pretty bendy, so we bought some 10' rock pegs which work brilliantly. A little tip there (not to do with the tent itself) is to use two peg extractors on each rock peg, and make sure you pull in exactly the direction the peg went in - they should come out pretty easily without snapping the plastic bit.
In our garden, in zero wind, my daughter and I pitched it in less than 30 mins, so it's pretty well thought out.
It's quite heavy, and the poles won't go back in the main bag no matter how we try and fold it, but that's no big issue for us as the pole bag is sturdy enough. It just means 2 bags instead of 1.
The head height in it is excellent, and I can stand and stretch without fear of touching any tent material. For reference I'm 5'10 and there is at least 10' headroom at the centre.
It's also nice having three openings (two on the side, staggered, and one of the bedrooms).
We had some light rain whilst away and can report that nothing came through at all, which is reassuring for a tent of this age.
The only issue we have (and it's not really a problem) is that the 'mudflaps' don't touch down on both sides. This could be down to how we pitched it, but it seems just a little too short. We are looking for a door porch as well now, as I think this would make a really useful addition.
Finally, it *is* big at 7.5m x 3.5m without guy ropes, so check with the campsite before booking as some have a 7m limit.

I actually bought this tent following the reviews from this site. I needed a large 8 berth tent as I have two teenage daughters and needed something spacious that was relatively quick to erect; that could stand the climatic changes of our British weather and look good.
I liked the idea of a tunnel tent and this has been absolutely perfect.
We use this for holidays for parties, for sleepovers in the garden (for the girls). It is so very versatile. Love the fact that all the bedrooms are removable which turns it into a marquee.
The rooms are all spacious with plenty of loops for adding hanging shelves, lamps etc. The canopies on either side provide excellent cover for cooking during a rainy spell.
We have just returned from a 4 day break in the Dales with 5 of us and it has worked perfectly. We experienced a variety of weather changes during that few days and the tent remained cool in the heat, warm in the chillier periods and stood the battering wind and rain like a trooper. Highly recommended.
I saw a few people with kitchen extension canopies while I was there so am now looking to add to the Indiana and hopefully have a covered kitchen area. Would never part with this tent. Its a definite keeper.

Great tent ,Very easy to erect quickly and get the rest of your equipment inside if it is raining. Plenty of room for 8 or even more if you sleep in sitting area. Used this tent on last holiday on top of cliffs at windy campsite. Stood up to various direction and strengths of wind although a bit noisy with the material flapping. If you use a trailer you can erect the tent and wheel the trailer inside to unload keeping everything dry and if only 6 persons using tent you can keep trailer in the area for one bedroom and use it as a store. GREAT.

Bought this tent as we had two teenage children and wanted to ensure there was plenty of space. Was a really good choice. Huge living area in the middle allowed us to bring in everything when it rained and meant we could have the table and chairs set up in the middle without it being cramped. . One night we had two families of four sleeping in it with no bother at all.The only reason we are selling it is that with only three of us now we have moved onto something slightly smaller
