This is a great 1/2 man back-packing tent; it's snug though: I use it with my wife. I'd feel pretty uncomfortable camping out with another bloke in it. Then again if you are cold and tired from hiking all-day you probably are past the point of caring. It's very light, splits very evenly for two people to carry (we have actually packed it into plane hand luggage), pitches like a dream (in any conditions) and will take a serious gale. Space is really tight at the foot end and you need to ensure you pitch it well so the ventilation works effectively. If you do not I suspect you may find yourself getting some condensation issues. The entrance/Porch is a good little storage space for backpacks etc. The tunnel type design also works well with a tarp & walking stick to create a little extra living space. I wouldn't trade this in for any other 1/2 man tent and would be happy to carry and pitch this by myself almost anywhere, anytime.

If you are getting on a bit (like me) and suffer with joint stiffness etc the side entrance is a god-send. Even so there's not a lot of room to move around; sit up etc. So you may want to consider stepping up to the 3 man version or a different model.

A slight downside is the Bright green/Blue colour scheme - not the most inconspicuous of tents. If I was planning on wild camping mostly, I'd probably consider a Vango Banshee as an alternative.

I bought this tent for wild camping - the low weight and high hydrostatic is just a brilliant combination. Quick and easy to put up and down, survived through all weathers and now four years later I still use it and it is in just as good nick now as when I bought it. Just recently I have started taking my kids wild camping - although one at a time! There is just enough space for one adult and one child.

I can highly recommend this tent, just brilliant, lightweight, waterproof - no flaws!

Excellent tent.

I ended up opting for this tent because of the high hydro head and the 2 doors.

Price was very reasonable.

Very surprised at the high build quality for the price.

Easy to put up and roomy for me on a solo camping trip.

Rucksack and boots stored in porch and can then access inner tent by side door which is great.

Stood up well to some brisk Welsh winds.

For backpackers the bag it stores in is a bit big for my liking so I purchases a small stuff sack and was chuffed to get the tent, poles and pegs in that - much better for me.

Pegs and guy lines are excellent quality too, by the way.

Very happy with this tent and would highly recommend for the price.

I bought my Coleman Avior X2 in 2008. I'm a motorcyclist who regularly tours in both the UK and Europe, usually for 3 days to one week at a time, moving between campsites 2-3 times on each trip. Therefore my requirements were:

-Low weight

-Small pack size

-Fast setting up and packing away time

-Durability

-Porch with door (for gear storage)

I looked at a number of tents, but ultimately it was a choice between this and a Vango Cloud II.

The physical size of this tent was just right - space for 1 or 2 people, and a big enough porch (with groundsheet) for cooking equipment, motorcycle leathers, boots and helmet. However, when packed is only about 45cms long and 2.7kg.

The inner part has plenty of pockets for your phone, keys, wallet etc. There is even a hook inside, which is perfect for hanging my torch from when I'm zipped inside! It also has two doors (front and side) which is particularly handy as the end of the tent is very low, and difficult to crawl down to to retrieve things from. The ability to open up the whole side portion eliminates the need to do this.

There is a generous space between the inner and outer parts, so water penetration is not a problem. The ground sheet is also very water proof, but additionally dries in no-time if the underneath is wet, when you come to pack it up.

Once you've got the hang of it, you can put it up in 5-10 minutes. There's only 2 poles, 5 guy ropes, and 7 other points to secure.

Ultimately, I decided on the Coleman because the material and seams are reported to deal better with UV light than the Vango, and thus last longer. I've used this for a total of about 35 nights so far and it's still as good as new.

So, in conclusion, if you want something light, durable, easy to work with that doesn't take up too much space to travel with, this tent is perfect. Be aware though, although a two man, it is 'cosy', so if you like a bit more sleeping space when sharing do bear this in mind.
