I needed a tent for just me and the wife but larger than our Saunders had been. It had to be able to be split for going by air , with a porch and to be able to sit up in. We plumped for the Caucasus 3
It comes in a dry bag with a wee repair kit. The poles are aluminium alloy and the pegs are tiny aluminium square profile jobs. We invested in a Vango footprint which would also give a gs in the porch and a few more lightweight pegs and that was it ready.
Pitching is easy for one. We start at the foot end and walk it out, do the nex pole etc and then attach the inner. The inner can be left clipped in but we keep ours in a separate dry bag. The guylines are glow in the dark and there are porch doors at each side.
The inner is very spacious for two, would be the usual intimate for three. Ventilation is good and the inner isn't mesh like a lot of Coleman's. The only mesh are the midge screens at the end and the door. The porch will take two rucsacs with room to spare.
Downsides? Only one. Unzipping the porch tent will let rain run in but this common to all tents of this design. It is a strong, practical and surprisingly large tent.
