7 Reviews of the Coastline 3

Bought it new and took it to Spain. On day 2 one of the rear rods shredded in strongish wind but most of the 200 other tents nearby were fine. One of the side door zips separated on day 3 but I managed to fix it. Retailer claims it's all outside of the warranty but offered to send me a replacement rod if I pay the postage. They reckon it's £5 to post 18' of fibreglass tube which I have to cut to length. I can buy 3 metres of the stuff for that price. I've noticed that the warranty for a number of tent manufacturers seem to let them off the hook for most obvious potential defects. They claim the tents are good for 'high wind' then refuse to pay for tears or snaps due to weather damage. If anyone can point me to a thread discussing tent warranty I'd love to read it.

I really like this tent for weekends. Its quick to set up ( 10 - 15 minutes ) with colour coded poles helping the speed . It has plenty of sleeping room for 2 people ( a little tight for 3 but still OK ). It is very sturdy with no movement when reasonably windy and the bathtub groundsheet prevents rain from bouncing in (Friends of ours in a Vango Beta 350 got wet inside - we stayed totally dry !)

So all in all very happy. I would give it 10 out of 10 if it had mossy nets on the doors , but I suppose in a tent this size and at this price you cant have everything !

This is an impressive tent. Its first outing was a wet week in Wales, immediately followed by a second, even wetter week in Cornwall, all without a sign of a leak or condensation (the tent that is, not me). There's bags of room to store all the motorcycle luggage and clobber that accompanies two-wheeled travel as well as hiking gear, boots etc. The generous headroom makes dressing easy and the choice of three openings should cover any wind shift. It's very intuitive to put up and adjust but I later found it impossible to get it all back in its bag at the wet and windy campsite. Get a bigger bag - the tent's worth it.

We very nearly bought a Vango Beta 350, but are glad we went for this one instead. As others have said, this is a good tent for the money. Its very easy to put up and take down, though a bit more of a challenge to fit it all back in the bag! The porch is big enough for two people to sit in on chairs and the front can be opened up to make an extra canopy. The sleeping area might be a bit snug with 3 in it but is very comfortable for two. The first night we used it was very wet and windy but everything stayed dry inside thanks to the rising edges on the porch groundsheet.

Brilliant tent - Very roomy and fits on the back of a motorcycle. When erected the tent is quite large and you can almost stand up inside it. The large porch and split living are perfect. The tent packs down very small and is light at only 6.5kg. Easy to put up and great value all round. I would certainly buy another one if I ever had to replace this one.

Good tent for the money, but not enough room for 3 adults, and one of the door zips broke the second time we used it. Good points, it didn't leak at all which is good when we woke up in a middle of a storm

I started out in a Coleman tent now I am back after trying various other makes. Coastline 3 is easy to put up - all poles are colour coded and have ball ends to slip through easily, the pack size is quite good for a tent that you can almost stand up in and can easily be carried on a motorbike which is the way I travel. I camped next to a very similar shaped tent made by another manufacturer but there was no comparison in the quality of the product. The tent next door had condensation problems from lack of ventilation and also let water in the front section. It was a really rough and wet weekend but the Coleman stepped up to the mark in every way. Definitely hanging on to this tent and can recommend it.
