I had high hopes for this tent. It erects quickly and is very strong once up. There is an unbelievable amount of headroom and the three sleeping areas divide nicely (one is a standalone pod). You can leave the inner attached to outer and it all goes up in one thereafter.

Unfortunately mine leaked. Almost every one of the loops for the various tie-backs and things would act as a wick that gently let a drip of water through every minute or so in reasonably bad weather. Also had a sea of drips forming (not condensation) on the inside of the roof, so whenever the fly was touched it would produce a splat of a thousand small drips. Returned to the shop but they didn't have any more in stock, so I'll be buying something else now.

Other downsides are the vast number of guy ropes and the unusual flysheet skirt detail that requires two additional pegs for every peg of the groundsheet. So although the tent goes up quickly at first, there's quite a lot of pegging work still to be done. Oh, and it weighs an absolute tonne. You have to keep the poles separate from the bag to keep it manageable, as at about 30kg the combined bag is difficult to manhandle.

Shame. It came pretty close to being a great tent.

Just received a Coleman lakeside 6 deluxe. Got for a bargain 200 quid with carpet brand new. This is a first impressions. Its typical nov weather n raining so tent unpacked in lounge.

Poles. All steel. No fibre glass poles at all. Even though Coleman say there is. They are all steel. There is a pressed in section on the tubes so when pushed together they cannot twist. No burrs on the end of the poles from machining so nicely finished. 5*

Laid out the inner tents and inspected. All nicely finished. No bad stitching. Comments about the zip quality seem unfounded. Inner hangs with the usual torpedo through ring method. Corners of inner use proper clips.

I have inspected the fly/outer. Again all stitching looks to be straight, and no raggy threads showing.

Will update once weather permits pitching.

On first impressions of finish and inspection I will give it a 10 out of 10.

This may be amended :-)
