Nice roomy tent, 2 adults and a 3 year old. Using one end of the tent as a large bedroom for all 3 of us. We used one pod at the other end as a toilet tent which was brilliant. The full height windows are nice and allow plenty of light in. We have a fitted carpet, plus a groundsheet and a Coleman porch for the front which covers our table and chairs and cooking gear, then we put a wind break around the porch area. Top tent, plenty of ventilation points including a large one at the back of the tent which can be zipped shut if required. Definately a good tent if you are staying for several nights, perhaps overkill for a long weekend, unless there are quite a few of you. A 2KW Fan heater was just the job on cooler nights in May down Newquay and kept the tent comfortable in the late evenings. We also have a Coleman gemini 5 for weekends- smaller footprint means faster pitching and cheaper camping prices!

Lovely tent really roomy and light with large windows. Its so easy to put up and dismantle.
We have used the tent during some really bad weather and never got wet.
The awning at the front makes a great place to cook. There is only three people in our group but regularly camp with friends, the central living area easily accommodates 6+ people.

We are a family of 4 but wanted a tent with lots of space for a full week camping and this tent certainly does give us that. There are 4 separate sleeping sections and we usually take one down to get easier access to the end doors and to give us more living space.
It is very light and airy with 3 full length windows and 2 doors on the opposite side and a further door at the end of the tent which can fully open out to the canopy. The canopy is great for giving shelter from sun (hopefully) and rain and is a great space for cooking and eating.
It would be even better if there were little porchways over the door to offer a bit of protection from drips in the rain. That is the only thing that stops me from giving this tent a score of 10.

Just returned from holiday using the McKenzie 8. Had 6 nights in the tent and it was easy to pitch - my wife and I loved the size of the tent which had fabulous amount of living space and the bedrooms were a great size. The ventilation was great - we only had 2 bedrooms up which meant the living space increased even more which was helpful on this trip as we were doing fishing and we could leave all of our gear set up. The design of the windows meant that there was increased light in the living area. As with the other reviews the guy ropes were tough to adjust and not bright enough and several people tripped over them - we had to change these ourselves to a brighter yellow colour to avoid more accidents. Even with heavy rain on our first night the tent held up perfectly.The canopy made the tent even larger and was the meeting place for our friends and their children a great social area.We all found this tent great in all areas and will be using it for many years to come.

Really great tent - we are a family of five and it is so adaptable for our needs - we use one of the rooms as a utility room to store stuff in and as a home for the portaloo. It goes up quickly and easily, although can be fun in the wind :) We store our rooms separately from the main tent when not in use to keep them completely dry. The tent is light and airy which is no doubt helped by the colour and the lovely windows. We use a wind break in conjunction with the front canopy which gives us a lovely dining area. Would definitely recommend this tent

Fantastic tent, bought it for £279.99 from Outdooraction
The Coleman Mackenzie X8 has a massive living space and all the bed rooms detach so you can mess around with the living space/arrangements. One set of bedrooms have a joining door and can be opened up to make a huge bedroom, very handy if you have small children or you want a massive bedroom.
This tent allows in lots of light and has 4 full length windows with roll up blinds. 2 large doors on the right side of the tent and a large opening at the front of the tent, which can only be used if at least 1 of smaller bedrooms are removed.
There is also a awning that attaches to the front of the tent so this makes the footprint of the tent huge (about 8m in length)
Assembly of the tent is very simple, but it does not take 20 mins (whoever said that) It takes 20 mins just to peg all the guy ropes in. Another 30mins to assemble the tent which is pretty straight forward thanks to the colour coded poles. The bedrooms are already attached inside the tent so no need to mess around with those.
Taking down is very easy and it rolls up very easily and fits in a nice bag. The tent weighs a ton and needs 2 people to carry it around. Top tip is remove the poles from the tent bag, these take up half of the weight and makes carrying the tent much easier.
Cant find any faults with the tent, just wish they would make the bedrooms from black material! this would help with sleeping. All in all top tent and well done Coleman.

We spent a good few months looking for the perfect tent and I think we have found it with this one.
The tent was put up by my partner on his own whilst I was supervising our little one. He did it in about 30 mins and I only had to help with the poles. Our back garden wasn't big enough for a trial run so this was first time.
We set it up with one bedroom and a large living space. There was plenty of room for two adults and a toddler plus all the gear.
It feels very light and airy due to all the windows.
The canopy on the front is very handy to cook under. We have bought a ground sheet to go under it and we're planning on getting a wind breaker for a bit of extra privacy.
We are absolutely delighted with the Mackenzie 8 and would definitely recommend it to any camper with a large car boot.

We had the Coleman Modulus X7 to start with but it started to leak from the top seam, the tent was well equipped so decided to buy another in the range.
The Mackenzie 8 is superb, has a light and airy feel to it, because of the huge panoramic windows. Easy to put up, (about 20 mins with two people) sewn in groundsheet, masses of room, and can vary the bedroom arrangement we use one as a toilet room and equipment store. As seen in my pics an awning is supplied with the tent, we were out in the pouring rain but kept dry underneath, also all the cooking is done under here as well.
Some have complained about the guy ropes, they are thick and rough as opposed to most other tents so adjusting is a bit slower, however most of the time they are used at the same length anyway, they are dark so use luminous collars, change the corner guys to bright yellow or use solar lights to mark the corners as we do, (cheap at DIY centres) and some say are slightly short?.
If you have a bad chest as I do, ventilation is very important, there is five vents around the tent and the three doors have mesh to see out, and keep the bugs out
This is the tent that I will be using for some years, and our trips around Europe, no problems finding sites for our large tent !

We were looking for a large-ish tent for 2008 - we've had a Wynster Satellite 9 for a couple of years, but were looking for something more rectangular - we were tempted by the Royal Bordeaux 8 and the Outwell Indiana 8. Then we went to the Camping & Caravan Show at the NEC, and fell in love with the Coleman. It's very roomy, with a great big canopy over the front door. We only use 3 rooms - the double at the back plus one other, and that leaves us with a very usable play room for the two boys, 3 and 15mths.
Pros: Easy to put up, easy to strike, very light and airy, due to six of the eight 'panels' having floor-to-ceiling windows in them - some neat touches on the bedroom pods, sewn in groundsheet kept us dry.
Cons: the weight once packed - but then every large tent is going to weigh this much.
Also - the biggest problem we had were with the guy ropes, as has been mentioned above. Not only were they too coarse to easily adjust under tension, they were neither hi-vis, nor did they have any reflective fabric on them. This isn't a huge bugbear, as we went out and bought a roll of fluorescent yellow guy-rope and replaced each guy in situ one evening during our trip to Dorset.
All in all I'd highly recommend this tent to all families who wish to go camping.

We were visiting a camping store, and there it was, we made a bee-line for it, this tent caught our eye instantly! This tent is superb, has a real 'light and airy feel to it, probably because of the huge panoramic windows. Easy to put up, sewn in groundsheet a definite plus. Masses of room, and can vary the bedroom arrangement dependant on numbers, if you put a wind break up at the awning end, makes almost like an extra room, which we used as outdoor cooking area. Two minor complaints, the guy ropes are slightly short, and difficult to adjust, they seemed coarse, we will be replacing those, and having the sewn in groundsheet does make packing down a bit of an adventure! This is our 3rd. Tent, will probably be our last as it is so good.
