Great tent straight forward to pitch but the instructions are quite vague but does not take a genius to work out what goes where. We experience quite strong winds but was very comfortable inside. There is plenty of ventilation throughout the living area, some nice little features including a hanger for I presume clothes etc. A hanger for your lamp and the best of all the rolling blinds. Plenty of windows and even a couple of poles to hold 1 door open if required. There is plenty of room in the living area, and detachable bedrooms for extra space if needed.

This is not my first Coleman product but is my first Coleman tent and am very pleased with it.

Have used this tent 4 or 5 times now over the last couple of years and have been very happy with it. Strong and well made, it shows no wear to it yet. Simple to put up (can be done by 2 people after a couple of goes although easier with 3). I like the headroom cos I'm over 6ft. Kids like auto roll windows, quite cool. We have had 5 people in no problem. Minor niggles - rain porch on one side only, why? ground sheet is high in doorways and between joint sleeping area so you can trip if forget. My pole bag is surviving so far, unlike other reviews. Been lucky with soft campsites so my pegs ok too, they are quite lightweight. Overall a good robust and roomy family tent.

I bought this tent after visiting a local camping shop and saw that it was reduced because it was a display model. At the time of buying I was not aware of it's quality as I was new to camping. I returned home to read the reviews on this site and was please to find that it scored very highly. We have used this tent about six times now and have had tipical British weather. The tent has held up to the roughest wilst others have been blown down. After a few attempts I have found that I can erect the tent and peg out in under thirty minutes.(single handed).

The only reason that this tent does not score ten/ten is because of the bedroom divider that when unzipped does not allow a bed to be laid across both rooms. Otherwise a very good tent.

I have owned 3 tents in the last 5 years (including this one) - the first was a necessity purchase at short notice from Argos, and was fit for purpose at the time. The second was larger (6 man), but was also a last minute purchase from Argos when I decided my girlfriend and I needed more room just a few days before a camping trip. Both these tents were cheap, with no sewn in ground sheet, or any really good features - but both did their job at the time.

Last year I decided I'd splash out on a tent that would be intended to last for a long time, so it had to be very good product. I happened across the Coleman Mackenzie Cabin 6 very quickly during my initial internet search, and it seemed like the ideal tent. I wasn't disappointed on our first camping trip during a VERY wet June 2011.

My girlfriend and I were shocked at how quickly we put the tent up - really easy in our opinion - and this with no trial run. I have to admit it wasn't windy at the time, but the rain was certainly pouring down which can always make putting up a new tent a miserable experience!

The tent felt incredibly stable, despite us not using all the guide ropes. Inside it feels absolutely huge, which was appreciated by our friends who were camping with us, as it gave a nice congregation area out of the rain for drinks and laughs.

The rain bucketed down, but I didn't see a single leak, unlike some other users reports. The role down window covers are a nice touch, and the storage pouches in the walls of the tent are also good, and the sewn in ground sheet makes you feel incredibly protected from the elements.

Gripes? Not many - the tent is simply superb. BUT, the zipped doors are a real pain, as the seams on each side constantly get caught up as the zip travels, but equally they free up easily when you move the zip back - sadly this doesn't make it any less annoying!

As another user has pointed out, its a shame the small rain peak over one of the doors is only on that side, rather than both.

We bought the associated ground sheet, so the whole tent sits on it, which is excellent and means the bottom of the tent's sewn in ground sheet is kept out of the dirt.

I've also just bought the side canopy extension, but next week's trip to Cornwall will be our first outing with it - I reckon we'll be very happy with that purchase too!

Summing up, this is just a brilliant tent, and seems to be so well made that would last for years if looked after.

A fantastic tent! As a newbie to camping I was a little sceptical on putting the tent up but it was simple, we had bad rain and a particularly windy night on one occasion and not a single leak- very impressed. Wonderfully luxurious, very spacious, plenty of ventilation and really comfortable to use. The instructions from the previous poster regarding pitching are spot on and the porch fit OK, a small gap but nothing that worried out family. I am now officially a Coleman fan!

What a brilliant tent! Just been away for 10 days and havent had a leak. Tent was a doddle to put up and take down and was wonderfully luxurious! (easily the best at the site!) There was only two fo us so we kept just the large bedroom area in and took the other area out. In this space we kept a fold away kitchen unit and cooker, a table and two chair including large moonchair and still had room to run around! We used an additional groundsheet under the tent as we were on a slight slope for six days of the holiday. The tent also comes with a small loop centrally located to hang a light at night and roll up windows which are so easy! Overall a brilliant tent!

Great tent but the reverse sloping window at the end does not reverse slope! So keep it closed if you are not sure of the weather. Sat in some wild all night thunderstorms but the only water inside came from condensation. May be half an egg cup ful from zips and what comes in if you open the door. Easy to put up and fast even for one person. The pole connecting wires are a weakness, as the pole ends are left a little sharp and they cut through three of the wires This in 3 weeks moving camp 4 times. Anyway I bought springs to insert for 50p. The cool air port needs a shelter. This is easy to make from a sleeping mat and canvas. And then it tucks in to a perfectly made pocket on the tent. Intenter was right about the porch .So I cut the 2 inches off the poles. Now the porch is a good addition. I bought the fan too.But it does waste battery power. A simple mod to the switching improves this. I would recommend the tent and porch. Thanks again to Intenter.

Just come back from a long weekend away in our Coleman Mackenzie cabin 6 and porch, and loved it!

Very easy to put up, didnt have time to practise before we went away but had the tent up in around 20mins and awning about 10/15mins, so not bad!

Loads of room, for a family of 5 and all of our belongings, had quite a bit of wind and tent held up great in that, had loads of rain and no leaks.

We did have a couple of puddles of condensation but with 5 wet people and their wet clothes/coats, and a fan heater on I did expect that.

The porch was great for keeping the kitchen stuff in and shoes etc, didnt have any problems pitching it as other users seem to have. It looked great pitched and I really pleased with it.

I must start this review by saying I'm a HUGE Coleman fan-boy, I've had a Northstar for 12 years and a Coleman Weathermaster Tent for 10 years.

Given the choice I would have always chosen Coleman kit, that was until I purchased the Coleman Mackenzie Cabin 6.

My previous Weathermaster was an amazing tent, it'd been through hellish weather and shrugged it off, and in 10 years not one leak. But after 10 years it was starting to show its age and a new arrival in the family prompted a search for a new, larger tent.

When I saw the Mackenzie Cabin 6 all my requirements were met, the perfect replacement for the old Weathermaster.

Pros:

- Easy to erect

- Sturdy and feels solid when pitched.

- Lots of ventilation panels keep tent cool

- Great size, especially with the smaller bedroom removed.

- Good windows and the 'self rollers'

- Integrated groundsheet, to keep out the bugs

- Tall tent, so easy to stand up and move around.

Cons:

- Tent leaked in numerous places, seams over the main bedrooms, in the corners and from the 'cat flap'

- During an reasonably strong downpour it felt like the rain was coming straight through the tent.

(I doubt this was condensation dropping, as the parts tent out of the direct rain were bone dry on the inside)

- One of the hooks that clips the tent to the poles ripped at the base, along the seam.

- The pegs supplied are a joke and belong with a £19 pop-up tent.

- As other people have said the pole bag could have been tougher.

- The groundsheet was so “soft”, the slightest scuff with a chair resulted in white marks from the plastic underneath the top layer. (why would you use a white plastic in the groundsheet?)

- The door zips just constantly snagged on the surrounding fabric, did no one at Coleman use the zips?

I think what we have here is a case of Coleman resting on previously excellent products.

The build quality of this tent is nowhere near that of my old Weathermaster.

If I'd have bought this from eBay I would have thought it was a fake. The materials and the construction and just average, not what I'd expect from Coleman.

Right now these can be bought for £279 from a major retailer, £220 off retail.

That’s a lot of discount on a “premium” brand, even at end of season.

I can’t say how disappointed I am, I REALLY want to like this tent, but it failed on the most basic function, keeping you dry.

I'm looking to return this tent, I need one that can be relied on day in, day out.

I have just come back from a great camping trip, great tent, went up really quick, very sturdy in the winds. Lots of room, great roll down windows.

The problem we had was when it rained, we had a leak both sides I think the seams and then it sat on the join to the fitted ground sheet then would eventually overflow. This we discovered when we woke up in the morning.Lots of little puddles!

Luckily we had not purchased the carpet yet as this would have been soaked! and would then need drying out!

IS this a problem with anyone else or do we just have a faulty one????
