5 Reviews of the Magellan 9
By: Worto03 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2007 Rating:
I already left my review back in 2008, to update it we now have another child (so they are now 5 and 9) and still use this tent however we snapped one of the poles at a festival and bodged something together to get us through the weekend but can't find a replacement pole anywhere and we'll need one if it's to stand up to any sort of rough weather in future.
If anyone knows where I can get one from please message me, I love the size and layout of tent so don't really want to have to replace it just because I can't get a pole.

We brought this tent in 2008 after our first camping Holiday in 2007 when we used a four berth tent, there are four of us and four in a four berth tent does not work. The Magellan 9 is great with plenty of room, our two boys have there own bedrooms and we all have plenty of space. I am 6'2 and my eldest son is 6'4 and we can both stand up even in the bedrooms. It is simple to put up as every thing is colour coded, the only thing we seem to struggle with is sometimes we cannot get the ground sheet to sit flat on the floor at the corners by the front, maybe this is just us, other than that I would say its a great family tent. We have used it in the UK and France, in the UK it has stood up to some very heavy rain and never let in a drop.

Hi - This is the first big tent we've used due to us now going camping with the addition of an 18 month old girl. All of our other tents have been 2-4 man tents.
It's absolutely brilliant - only took 2 of us about 45 mins to put it up which we should be able to get down to about 30 mins next time (now that we know what we're doing). It's pretty simple and everything is colour coded so you just match the poles to the right colour sleeves and the same with the buckle things inside.
Once up there is plenty of room inside, we had one room for the little un which we could easily fit the travel cot in and a chair to sit in and read her a story. One room for food and general dumping. One room for us to sleep in with a double air bed in.
That leaves the main area totally free for the table football tournament & plenty of room to mess about in case of bad weather.
I'd defo shop around though as we didn't pay anywhere near £429.99 - we paid less than £200 for ours & bear in mind that in really is a heavy beast when it's all packed up in the carry bag!
Anyway I'd recommend it to anyone in a similar situation as us.

Used our tent twice and really pleased with it. Plenty of space to spread. Lot of movement in the wind, but has kept us dry in the rain.Only two of us but leave bedrooms in and the living area is then left free for table chairs etc.

We love our coleman ! its a very large, versatile family tent that is light for its size, thanks to it's predominantly aluminium pole construction.
It features three 3-berth bedrooms positioned around a huge livving area. We easily get a table n cairs in their in bad weather.
All of the bedroom inners are removable, allowing an increase in the living space. The living space also has full head height throughout and when leading into the bedroom areas.
The flysheet is 3000mm HH PU coated polyester with taped seams and the inners are breathable polyester with no-see-um-mesh.
The continuous pole sleeves are colour coded for easy set-up and the adjustable buckle on the pole eyelet webbing allows for effortless pole insertion.
Other features include 3 good windows in the porch area, free porch poles, carry bag and repair kit.
