2 Reviews of the Oak Canyon 6

Rating 9.5 An amazing tents that ticks all the boxes. Bought it on offer at Go Outdoors for £350 and it's well worth it. A strong, well made tent. Both the front door and the side door could be made in to awnings(no poles supplied though),The black out in the bedrooms was great and it also kept it cooler in the day. We only used the double bedroom(with separation curtain removed) and took the smaller one out as used that area for extra storage. Very roomy and airy tent. Easy to pitch(for 2 of us)Instructions on the bag not much use though! Managed to get everything back in to the bag at the end which is quite an achievement!Velcro loops so that hook up cables/extension leads could be used safely and tidily. Very impressive tent and a real bargain for £350!.One tiny little niggle the loop and toggle system to hold up doors ,curtains, fly screens was not the best i.E the loops were way too big for the toggles and had to be wrapped round 2 or 3 times but that is the only thing that stopped my rating being a 10!

An amazing tent but difficult to get hold of in the UK - heaven knows why. I got mine from Germany, simply because the spec did everything I needed.
The Oak Canyons are basically upgraded Vespuccis. The OC6 has two flymesh doors (as opposed to one on the V6). Also, the small door opens on both sides, meaning it can also used as an awning (rather than the side opening on the V6 which can’t).
The blackout - while not total - is incredible. We slept through to 8:30 in a sunny late June! One issue to bear in mind is that the bedroom walls are slightly see-through. A mixed party would need to take care when changing by torchlight or when daylight is shining into the bedroom. You could easily hang an extra sheet between the two separate bedrooms but not the 2+2 split room (unless you pinned it).
The bedroom configuration is a totally flexible 2+[2+2], with either or both rooms removable. The central wall in the 2+2 room removes totally flat so a double mattress can straddle the join for his-and-hers floor space.
Headroom and living space are almost epic. It would be cozy with 6 but by no means unpleasant. Two adults and an 8-year-old rattled around.
I got the tent up single-handed in around 50 minutes. The supplied pegs are regulation useless so I upgraded before I even set off. Getting the tent down was okay, but getting it back into the bag was a major struggle, even leaving out the pole and peg bags. The bag is too heavy to lift with these bags in so no great problem that they wouldn’t fit. (But why don’t tent companies produce videos showing you how to pack?)
It loses a mark for three things:
* No eyebrow above either door, meaning water ingress would be an issue in heavy rain.
* The large door would be better bigger, giving a more open feel in fine weather.
* Lack of (visual!) privacy between bedrooms.
Otherwise perfectly happy.
