4 Reviews of the Ridgeline 6 Plus
By: 456charlie Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
We upgraded to one of these with the intention of it just being for two of us and an improvement on a poor tunnel-tent I'd rashly bought before.
Easy for two of us to erect, even in a bit of wind. Colour coded poles and tabs on bedrooms etc made it quite simple. But we had real problems trying to get the outside nicely tight when pitching on anything other than a billiard table.
We had to get the 6 man version which allowed us to choose which way round to sleep, ie heads to the side or heads to the middle. The 4-man version we looked at at our local tent showroom (Attwoolls - fabulous people!) was far too small in the bedroom sections. If we lay down heads towards the middle living area, our feet would push up against the tent sides, and if we lay with heads to the side walls instead, then whoever was on the outside had the sloping wall of the tent right in their face.
We used one room to sleep in and one room to store our kit, although once we did do a weekend sharing with another couple. The middle area is quite cosy, so it's best suited to good-weather camping when you can sit outside. You can choose which side to use as the main door, although only one has windows but these are tiny.
Due to the small living space, we've now changed to a Kampa Hayling 4 with a single bedroom with dividing curtain that we roll up out the way, and this also has a far larger and more usable living area.
The Ridgeline is a good entry level tent, but if you like going to differnt sites that may have a bit of an incline - avoid it!

Quite easy to put up with shorter support and the two longer supports colour coded for easy recognition crossing in the middle.Took us about 20 minutes. The interior sleeping sections again have a handy red tag to show which way it goes in. The central area groundsheet is ok but a bit trippable. We set it on fairly level ground so don't know what effect slope would have. Camped in Devon and it stood up to a real gale and although the ends were pushed in significantly the struts held and didn't break. It also kept out heavy rain so quite sturdy and waterproof. Well ventilated but the central ventilation cap catches the wind and sounds like a spitfire engine if it's not really tight.
Aimed at 6 but it would be crowded. The slope at the end of the sleeping area limits space .Fitted 2 adults and 2 15 year olds comfortably, a double airbed each side. Living area took 4 camp chairs and kit . Generally speaking very satisfied.

A good entry level tent that has plenty of space for a family of four. It's fairly easy to pitch on level ground, but on any hint of a slope and it can be a bit tricky to get it square and the pods & groundsheet to line up. Also, if you're over 6ft it's hard to lie flat and not have your feet pushing against the sloping ends. The tent is easy to pack and light to carry - a pretty good price as well!

Bought this tent to take the family away (2 adults 3 children). It easily accommodates us all with space to spare in the bedrooms. I would say the tent is best suited for those who intend to pitch their tent and then head off on days out as the living space is a little cramped.
The only two concerns I have with it are the slopes on each end which can result in your feet pressing against the outer skin if you don't pitch it just right, and also the riser groundsheet in mine just doesn't seem big enough and you have to overstretch it to get it to fit. Other than that a pretty good all round tent.

Manufacturer's Description
Spacious and well ventilated, this roomy 6 person tent provides incredibly comfortable living conditions for all the family thanks to its 2 bedroom vis à vis layout and new PE rising groundsheet which offers maximum ventilation but at the same time, the 12cm high side panels provide increased protection if heavy showers fall.
If you are concerned about the damage caused to the grass on your pitch during a two week stay, this convenient groundsheet design is easily folded back in the mornings to let the ground breathe.
Easy to pitch thanks to the fly-first design, you will have your tent set-up in no time at all, leaving you more time to relax in the large domed living area. An abundance of useful features such as multiple storage pockets, large PVC windows with full covers, the new power cord vent and easy to adjust ventilation panels simply add to your comfort at the campsite.
