7 Reviews of the Riverside 6

Used this twice now and in some really heavy rain, a good watertight tent with plenty of headroom. We are a family of 4 and it's perfect. One pod each for the kids and a double pod for me and hubby. Could do with a porch area as tricky to get in/out in wet weather. We added the fitted tent carpet too (sold separately) and this makes it all very snug. Easy to put up (unless windy!) and lots of living space.

This was our first tent - it was perfect for weekend camping of 2-3 nights. There were 3 of us - I would not say this is a 6 berth - we couldn't get two airbeds in the large bedroom pod without one sitting up a bit in the corner.
It was lovely and airy and lots of room. We especially like the fact you could remove the second bedroom pod to give you more living space. It was also quite warm with the sewn in bathtub style ground sheet. It was fantastic in the warm with no condensation and good ventilation.
However, because the tent had 3 doors which didn't have zips at the bottom of the door it got very flappy on a windy night. Also the cold was let in which made the second bedroom (which has a door leading off it) quite cold. Also the other drawback was the poles got caught in the sleeves when threading in and out. Apart from that it was quite easy to pitch and could be done by one person.
I would say a great spacious tent, lovely in the warm but missing zips at the bottom of the doors!

We have this tent and have used it 5 weekends 2 days each weekend, we noticed last weekend that where the sleeve for the red pole is sewn into the main tent, it was fraying away. We took this back to Camperlands at Northenden where we bought it and after inspection they told me it wasnt a manufacturing fault, and gave me some sticky tape to repair it. Being a machinist I checked it out for myself by unpicking the part that was fraying and LOW and behold I was right, the sleeve edges were sewn to near to the tent seam and had frayed and pulled away. Rather than pay Camperlands £30 to fix it I did it myself, a 15 Min job

Great large tent. We don't use the second bedroom so have plenty of space. Colour coded poles so easy to know how to put up, although still not sure we are putting it up the quickest way! Love the fact it is an integrated groundsheet, so no bugs and no leaks. Very well ventilated and stable. Doesn't get too stuffy and no condensation. Easy to put down, no problems with removing the poles and easily fits back into the bag.
Only a few negatives:
Window only on one of the sides
If windy the door can get a bit flappy at the bottom. We have added some velcro to this and it has worked a treat.

A well made and spacious tent. Colour coded fibre rods/tent sleeving so its impossible to put the rods in the wrong sleeves. Easy to erect even single handed with the rod ferrules causing the only problem whereby the sleeving 'rucks up' when sliding them through and is therefore time consuming having to frequently unsnag the sleeving. Taking down the tent is even more time consuming when removing the rods as the rucking is even worse. If the rod coupling edges were slightly chamfered without making them sharp it may make the operation easier.Ventilation is first rate with hardly any condensation due no doubt to the roof and side vents.
All in all I would recommend this tent as a good all round tent especially for anyone new to camping as I mentioned earlier it is very easy to erect.

Excellent tent with plenty of space! We sleep in the large compartment (myself, hubby and toddler) and remove the smaller bedroom (or use it as storage!).
Positives:
1. It only needs one person to put it up and can be done in under half hour with practice.
2. Lots of space for camping cupboards, etc
3. Very stable and fully weather proof :-)
4. Plenty of ventilation
5. Separate entrance from outside into the smaller bedroom
6. Fairly light for its size and packs away neatly
There are two negatives:
1. There is no porch area so rain finds it's way in when you are entering/leaving.
2. The larger bedroom does have a room divider but is just a 'hanging sheet' so not effective as a bedroom divider.
Overall I am very happy with this tent and would only consider buying a new one to have a porch.

Used for one wet and breezy week in Wales: it stayed up and kept us dry and we (family of 4) were generally happy with it.
Pros:
* light and well ventilated
* seemed stable
* no leaks so far
* awning poles included
* reasonable pack size and weight
Cons:
* only has a window in the front door (and a mesh in the end one), the back door is opaque - a pity
* ventilation isn't adjustable, can get breezy inside on a windy night
* could be easier to pitch and take down (dome has more poles than a tunnel, they're not the simplest to thread, but at least it's an all-in-one and easy to work out what goes where)

Manufacturer's Description
The Coleman Riverside 6 provides plenty of space for an enjoyable family holiday. Its dual sleeping areas mean that a separate bedroom for mum and dad can ensure that everyone will enjoy a more relaxed break. A fully integrated groundsheet provides complete protection from inclement conditions and means you can be comfortable, warm and dry whatever nature throws at you. Also, if you need a little more living space, the smaller bedroom can be removed, opening up the living area to a much larger size and allowing access to the extra door. This offers great flexibility for all kinds of holidays.
