1 Reviews of the Rocky Mountain 5
By: Thehillwalker Reason: I've used one Made in: 2016 Rating:
I've had the opportunity to use my parents' Rocky Mountain 5 tent. It's a nice tent but is let down by the non-existent quality control at Coleman. The one that I used was the second one that my parents have had and both were faulty. The first tent had a split carrying bag and a scratch that went right through the flysheet (so deep that it also went through the blackout coating on the inside). The second tent had pin holes in the flysheet and various stains on the grey panel. There were probably more than 30 stains in total. The last Coleman tent that I purchased was also faulty.
Based upon this experience I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend anybody to buy this tent. It's a shame because the tent itself has some really nice features and if they could make it properly then it would be a good product. That's not to say that, quality issues aside, it's perfect. Whilst I like the insect mesh on the two doors it hasn't been very well implemented. The side door is also quite heavy and isn't directly supported by a pole. The tent really needs two extra guy ropes attached to the poles either side of the side door to provide tension in the right place. If you use the guy ropes that come installed with the tent to apply tension around the door (i.E. Stop it from sagging), it ends up over-tensioning the lower part of the door in order to get the correct tension at the top.

Manufacturer's Description
The Rocky Mountain 5 is a spacious and comfortable, easy to pitch, fibreglass-poled, tunnel tent that offers a comfortable home from home on the campsite for all the family.
The Rocky Mountain 5’s simple yet stable, tunnel construction means it can be easily set up in minutes. Once erected, the tent’s large living area easily fits a family-sized table and chairs and a PVC window with cover offers a balance of light and privacy. A large BlackOut Bedroom complete with removable room divider offers sleeping flexibility.
Multiple entrances offer easier entry and exit in inclement conditions and reflective guylines reduce the risk of tripping. The tent’s flysheet has an impressive hydrostatic head rating of 4500mm for guaranteed wet weather protection. Wind responsive fibreglass poles are the ideal partner for aerodynamic and noise-reducing, mesh pole sleeves. A robust, fully integrated PE groundsheet guarantees clean and dry camping.
All fabrics are fire retardant and for extra security, the zipper stoppers on the tent doors ensure that zips are always within easy reach in the event of an emergency, even for children. The flysheet is also treated with Coleman’s UVGuard™ providing SPF 50 protection from the sun’s rays.
