6 Reviews of the Sahara 8

The tent layout is great. It is very spacious with good headroom throughout. Handy shaped ends which are outside the bedroom bits which can be used for wellies etc or a portaloo if need be. Really easy to pitch. Steel poles clip onto all-in-one inner then pull over fly sheet. Goes up square easily with excellent ventilation and good space between inner and fly sheet to stop rain getting through. A bit dark in dull weather as windows only in central bit. Criticisms: fly sheet has to go up first so not ideal if pitching in the rain. Pitching in the wind nearly impossible even with a lot of hands. Due to its long layout, if the long side faces the prevailing wind for a long period of time the poles cannot deal with it. We did claim for our poles from our supplier Camping World who replaced them new without a quibble. It was VERY relentless wind on a cliff top. Following this we tethered the tent to the car roof racks overnight.

I had one of these tents a couple of years ago and I'm not surprised it's no longer in production. Granted, it's a huge tent designed with the very best of intentions but there lies the nub of the faulty design. There's simply too much tent on too little frame. We had pitched up at Wolds Way, Malton, a superb site but at the top of a hill so therefore, naturally, is windier than most sites. Coming back after being out all day we were horrified to find the tent very badly damaged or should I say the frame. It was bent and twisted beyond repair despite being anchored by Delta Pegs. The tent ended it's short life in a skip in Malton Council yard.

Lovely tent. Have used it now for 6 summers, for 2/3 weeks at a time, in all sorts of weather, high winds and heavy rain, and blazing sun. Easy to put up, even for a large heavy tent. We normally sleep 5 people and a dog in it, so have loads of room, but have slept 10 and was still fine. Very robust and comfortable. Would recommend this tent to anyone as it is so good.

Fantastic tent. Very easy to put up despite the size of it, took 2 of us about 20 minutes first time round. The 2 bedrooms are fantastic in both size & quality, I am 5'7 and I am able to stand comfortably in there. The SIG is a god send and the tent was lovely and cosy in the evening. Condensation in the morning was at a minimum thanks to the excellent ventilation of the tent. We slept 2 adults & 2 kids in one bedroom and 2 adults, 1 kid and the dog in the other and still had lots of room. Tent is great on hot days as it has so many doors that you can have open to let the breeze pass through.
All in all very impressed and can't wait to go camping again.

Very large comfy tent. We have had 7 people camping in it with no probs. It finally gave up the ghost in France after a week & half of very windy weather rubbed the waterproofing off the flysheet on all the points where the clips for the inner tent attach to the poles for the roof and sides. Have now repacked it with a Hartford xl.

Well what can I say,the best tent we have ever had ,it just keeps taking all the punishment British weather can give. You could definitely sleep more than eight in the very spacious sleeping areas. It makes an ideal tent for fixed base type camping. We have used it in all types of weather , though lately wetter than normal and been very comfortable. If they were still made I would buy another for when my first one gives up the ghost
