3 Reviews of the Countryman

Changed our much loved campervan for a Countryman as we felt the benefit of having a car to use when on holidays would give more choice of campsites we could use. We particularly like the hot and cold running water, the extra space and being able to leave the two comfortable double beds made up permanently. The acrylic canvas keeps clean and wipes dry quickly, the fridge is small, but seems efficient on half setting. There is ample storage in the cupboards, and in the under bed area with the bed skirts on. The awning is huge but not difficult to put up, and it’s nice and versatile to ventilate, with the option to use as a sun canopy. All in all, well thought out and user friendly outfit.

The transfer from tent to Trailer tent was a good move form my family needs. The move from trailer tent to folding camper was even better when we purchased our old 1995 Conway Countryman.
This little 4 berth lightweight folding camper was a big improvement for us.
The biggest advantage was the no need to use the awning every time, the non pegging of the main cabin and having everything inside the main living area water cooking plugs electric etc.
We like the face we are off the ground enclosed in the cabin area is warm and comfortable especially on the large fold out double beds.
With the addition of the large awning you now more than double your space. We was lucky enough to get a universal under bed pod and used it with under bed skirts attached to dry store all our bags and other non used items. Under the other bed we used to place a dog bed crate this is ideal to create a safe place for the dogs and will keep them cool on the hotter camps.
The camper had a cold running water tap accessed by a foot pedal double gas burner and grill cooking area and sink. Ample storage under the seats and in the main foot well area once folded.
These lightweight units tow very easy and on most normal cars. They hold value well and as long as they are looked after they will last for a long time. Lucky the previous owners had NOT destroyed the canvas by water proofing it and had allowed it to waterproof naturally.
We have now upgraded to a Pathfinder and would never look back to a tent again.

A good example of the older versions of this model can be bought for about £1000. We bought ours (a 1994) we think for that amount and we have used it every summer for our main holiday in France and Germany and short stays in UK. If you get a good example it will do you for years or you may want to buy the late one which has more refinements. Either way its cheap holidaying. Only problem experienced is getting tyres in an emergency. No problem in France of course but in UK not a prayer. They're the same as a Ford Escort van
