This tent is absolutely hands down the best tent I’ve ever owned.

It’s amazingly well sealed and durable. The attention to detail like pocket, little velcro attachments in just the right places.

Respect to Kampa for this tent! I LOVE British brands!

Anyone saying this tent it flapping in the wind has simply not put it up properly as we’ve had it out in very high winds and it’s absolutely great!

Purchased this tent thinking I had a real bargain. It's okay in light conditions but it's when you camp in moderate conditions that’s when the tent really begins to flap and slap in the wind. I purchased the vestibule thinking it would a great addition to the tent and protect from the elements. In light conditions it did but once the wind speed got up to 22knots the vestibule had separated during the night and the connection at the top of the tent had tore off. Not pleased with my new tent of only 2 weeks! The pitch was good and construction of the tent and vestibule was simple. The living area has more velcro connections as a cable tidy than the inadequate four on the vestibule. Approximately less than a metre gap between the connection points of the velcro and the top front tent and vestibule toggle allowed the wind to separate the two items and cause the product to be deemed not fit for purpose. The side straps of the vestibule that connect to the tent flap in the wind and pull in the opposite direction of the vestibule guy rope when tightened further. I had to pitch the tent guy ropes inside the vestibule to provide extra support in the wind. I wouldn’t want do this every time as it would wear against the polyester canopy. The 5000headrostatic head didn't seem very convincing in the wet but managed okay. Poles are standard. Ground sheet was good quality. Carpet was originally Ł90, I'm glad didn't spend that amount. Fly nets in the doors even to the same style as the bedroom pods would've been good. I liked the privacy blinds for the windows. Vent at the back needs it's own guy rope to keep it open. Windows good and large. Vestibule door could’ve had a window instead of being grey polyester but I suppose that would’ve made the vestibule heavier and put the connections under stress. Some guy ropes were not threaded properly but they do glow in the dark wonderfully. Zips were of decent quality. The hanging item holder was great. Connections for the sleeping pod were good as were the colour coded clipping points. Easy to pack away and I like the clips on the bag that can tighten to take up any slack. Black plastic 'C' Clips were good I just expected more of them to connect the tent to the vestibule. Maybe if it had more then I’d still have the tent. Make sure that you read the Kampa website for a description of the tent and the warranty section found in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section and note that all the tents are for camping in light to moderate conditions. I’d have appreciated this to be more obvious on the product website and on the website that I viewed it on. More information on the vestibule would’ve been appropriate as well but construction was simple. A good tent in light conditions but I’m going to have to invest in a better quality tent for the various weather.

Just bought this tent and so glad we chose the Hayling. Used it at the weekend for the first time. There are only 2 of us so plenty of space and so easy to erect. It was strong and sturdy even in the strong wind.

The front porch feature was so handy for kitchen set up etc. Good value for money.

We recommend this tent.

This is probably the best tent we have owned(and we've owned a few!). It is incredibly easy to pitch, very stable when its up and the bedrooms are a really good size. We find the living area more that good enough for our needs as we tend to be outside under our shelter unless the weather is really bad and then of course we move inside. The dog is happy as there are no gaps for the cold air to get in during the night. We would highly recommend this tent especially if you buy a shelter as well. Loads of space,and its is extremely waterproof!. Last time out the tent only took us 25 minutes to pitch. The tent carpet is a good to have though.

We've now used it for two week-long holidays. This time the weather was not too bad, but did get a bit windy and we had an issue with trying to get the side door to stay down - an extra square of velcro would be useful.

I was surprised to see the ends of the poles had started to rust - I really do make sure they are completely dry before I pack it away for the winter by leaving the poles and pegs spread out in the conservatory for a week before putting upstairs.

Easy to put up with just the two of us, and plenty of room for all our kit. Again we used the bedroom as a single room with the airbeds in the middle, meaning we each had a door on our side and didn't have to climb over the other to pop to the loo at night.

Very slight issue on the last night when the weather had turned and it was blowing quite hard - we did get some small pools of water at the base of the seam areas. Not sure what caused it, but we will reproof the seams before we use it next year.

I do like the look of the new 2015 model with the larger porch area, but still prefer the idea of poles and not the blowup tents because traditional poled-versions are lighter and pack down smaller.

I bought a Kampa Hayling 4 after seeing a friends. It seems a good size for my 'next' tent and had a lot of features I liked.

It was a somewhat disappointing start as the tent arrived without any instructions - Kampa put their instructions in a leaflet rather than stitching them in like some other manufacturers. Luckily as my friend was camping with me with the earlier model we managed with no issues, however it would have been nice to have the instructions there.

On taking the tent down for the first time one of the cords in one of the poles snapped. Disappointing for a new tent when my old tent had lasted nearly ten years without such an issue. Further to this there was stitching coming loose on the tent bag, again, not great. I contacted Kampa on my return, not easy as the contact details on their website were lacking. When I did get in touch they were very sympathetic but said that they do not deal with customer problems directly and that I needed to contact the shop I'd bought the tent from who then would contact Kampa. This I did and things went back and forth between all three of us. The upshot was that Kampa could not supply a repair kit as they were out of stock and so the shop sent me some cord themselves. Sadly I discovered when trying to repair the tent that this was not long enough to do the repair. The shop were not that helpful and, I think, fed up at playing the go between. When repairing the pole I also noticed that the cord on another two of the poles was also looking quite frayed. I reported this and finally, I did receive a set of used poles from Kampa in a bag as a replacement. The poles showed some rust and had some dirt on them so had clearly been used at some point, but they seem in good working order so I was happy with that and just to be able to use the tent again. Never did get any instructions though.

Since all that saga the tent has been great. It offers good space in both living and sleeping areas, is easy enough to pitch even singled handed and has never leaked. I do agree with some that you can get air coming in through the door bottom and a small square of Velcro there seems a good idea.

I do particularly like the small porch as it is surprisingly useful as an 'outdoor' area and, providing the wind is going in the right direction, enough space for a couple of people to shelter from the rain. It also keeps rain from entering the tent whichever way the wind blows. The attached pockets are also good in the living area and something that was lacking in my older tent.

Other than the tent door the only other thing I could see that could be improved would be an extra carrying handle on the top/ends of the bag as carrying it by the long side handles is quite awkward.

I have noticed after two seasons one of the poles seems to be fracturing, but as said I don't know how old the poles I have are, and luckily I have a couple of spares following the initial problems.

I would buy another Kampa tent in this style as it has many good features at a competative price, but I do think their customer service could be a lot better as I was made to feel like I was being a nuisance when all I wanted was a working tent like I had paid for.

Mine being a newer model its been interesting to compare and see how things have changed from the previous model my friend has. I see the new 2015 model seems to have a substantially larger porch area, I'm not sure if this is at the expense of living area space but I can see how that might be nice to have and would be interested to try it out.

I love this tent,we put it up in a force 5 gale, it did take some doing. Best thing is to get the guys in which helped.

The tent however is sturdy, windproof and really well made.

Cannot find any faults, the big curtained windows are great, also the curtains tuck neatly away in.Pockets.

The sleeping cabin has a tuckawayable dividing curtain, which means two of you can have a nice large bedroom.

Bought from local dealer (Attwoolls) for similar money to the deals available on-line. We got it with the intention of using it for two people, but to have enough room not to be in each other's way if stuck in due to inclement weather.

We also bought the footprint and carpet at the same time.

Pitching was easy, although I suspect it could be challenging in windy conditions. Plenty of room for us with two airbeds, luggage, chairs and fridge etc. We chose to roll up the bedroom divider and use as one room with his-n-hers doors, and this worked well. Bedroom is reasonably dark, but would be better if the bedroom 'silk' was black and not the light grey that's been used.

The option of 'stable' door at the front or the one on the side was a good idea. The porch area is great too, and as other reviewers have already said, it does keep the wet out while opening the door in the rain. In fact one day we sat inside drinking tea while looking out at some very heavy thunderstorms through the open door.

It also looks like Kampa have addressed the concern re the gap at the bottom of the door as there is now a piece of velcro to keep it aligned with the groundsheet.

The windows are fabulous, nice and big, with sewn in curtains which do a great job of keeping the heat to a reasonable level if closed on sunny days.

The matching carpet was disappointing in that it is now made of quite loose-weave material so is easily scag-able. The previous fleecy style would have been better.

Overall, it's a great tent with plenty of room for the two of us, good waterproofing and stood up to some strong winds too. Good value for money, and we would certainly recommend it.

After a lot of market research, we chose this tent after viewing it in the rain and realized it wouldn't rain in due to the door being straight and not on a slant as with many others. We liked the idea of the porch too as it helps keep you dry with the door open. Plenty of room inside for the three of us including luggage.No problems with pitching (even though we had never done this before). I would purchase this tent again.

We are a 'mature' couple and this was our first time camping with a big tent in more than 20 years. We decided to buy a 4-person tent so that we would have a bit of extra room. We bought the Kampa Hayling 4 about a month ago having spent a lot of time looking at other tents and we have just returned from a 16-day trip to France during which we camped 12 nights (6 nights on 2 different camp sites). The tent is so roomy when compared to other 4-person tents, the tunnel design and the brilliant head-height meant we had lots of space. This was particularly welcome when we had one very rainy day, the living area was sufficient for us the stay in for a few hours without getting under each others feet. A big advantage of this tent is that the front 'wall' and front door are vertical and there is a canopy outside. This meant that we could have the door open even when it was raining. The other tent we considered had a sloping front door so we could not have had the door open if it was raining as the floor would have been flooded so I was really pleased we chose the Kampa tent. We didn't have stormy weather but one night was a bit breezy and the tent was fine. And no leaks despite the really heavy rain.

Could the tent be improved? Well the 2 things I would like to see would be (1) a zipped mesh panel inside the front door so you could leave it open but keep the mozzies out and (2) make the fixed side window openable and put a mesh panel on it too so you could get a through-flow of air on a hot day. But to be honest, at the price we paid (Ł219) we are very pleased with the quality of the tent and the space, we have no complaints. We bought the Kampa footprint and carpet and would recommend these too. We also bougth the matching windbreak which was good but a bit fiddly to put up (maybe that's just me . ). Very pleased with the tent, let's hope it lasts a long time. I will be treating it with a sealant before packing it away (the supplier advised us to do this).
