1 Reviews of the Salamander

By: Dawn200  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2010   Rating:

This is a very large, canvas, tunnel tent which will easily sleep four people in comfort. At the sides it has four large windows with plastic and mesh coverings, and window covers which roll up from the outside. The sewn in groundsheet is thick and heavy and feels substantial. The tent is very tall inside and my husband who is 6'4' can walk around with plenty of head clearance. Putting the tent up is very simple, it has four hoops and once the first one is up and guyed it is quite a quick job to get the rest up. We have not tried it in the wind yet however! Our favourite feature is the front of the tent, which has a lovely, deep porch with plenty of room for cooking and front doors which both roll up if you wish. The tent is extremely well made with heavy zips and great workmanship throughout. Ordering from Esvo was easy - we corresponded with them by email and paid by bank transfer. They then sent the tent over to the UK and it arrived in the Royal Mail depot within a few days. We also have the matching carpet and tent organiser, and we had a separate sun canopy made as well. This is a lovely, spacious, substantial tent which feels very solid when it is up and I am sure it would withstand most weather. The only downsides are the pack size - which is enormous - and the weight of the canvas - which is very heavy. The length of the tent may also be a problem on a small pitch. Overall, we are very happy with this tent and believe we have made a great purchase which will last us for many many years.
