9 Reviews of the Napoli 500

We got this tent in exchange for an ex demo tent that was uv'd. As a six footer I needed something I could stand up in and have plenty of room. Granted it's pitched inner first so an eye on the weather is a must but once pitched it's a joy to use, if not for this one niggle, it would rate 10/10.
First thing we did was remove the divider from the bedroom area to make one large room, enough for our king size double height air mattress and still have room to spare (There's just 2 of us and the dog). This leaves a good sized living area and by adding extra poles to the front door, it becomes a nice canopy for sheltered cooking. Plenty of ventilation through the double zipped window openings combined with the airflow from under the flysheet helps avoid condensation. We have been out in some heavy weather and had no problems with leaks or stability. It's last outing was Sept 2011 and looking forward to more in 2012. This model is now discontinued, I can only say it's successor has a long way to go to better it.

I bought this tent about 3 years ago for me and my two sons. At the time my husband showed no interest in camping. At the last minute hubby decided he'd give it a go and I worried the tent would not be big enough, however, I needn't have worried. We've used it many times as a family of four and had lots of fantastic breaks in it. I have also used it to sleep 8 lovely ladies at a festival! The nearby men guffawed at these girls who had bought this tent and stood by ready to assist. They were gobsmacked when my sister had it sorted in about 20 mins without a man! I can put the tent up on my own in about 30 mins. When a tent has given you lots of memories and no headaches, it becomes part of your family! I have since bought a slightly bigger one but will always keep this for festivals and for my boys to share with their friends. I love this tent.

We have used the tent twice it is easy to erect and take down. Very spacious for two adults and one child. In the evenings five of us sat in it and ate our meals no problem. As we are novice campers its the ideal tent for us. I would love to have a extension on it though just so that we could have a bit more area to store wet gear etc.

I've owned this tent since 2004 but only really used it in earnest last year. For this my wife and I completed a 3 week 3500 mile round trip throughout Europe setting up tent on average every other night. On average it rained every other night. On average we either slept in the car or spent most of the night mopping out this tent.
There are three principle drawbacks with this tent. 1 - it's inner first. This means you only get a dry tent if you erect the tent in dry weather. Don't ever think that 30 minutes of set up time in the wet means 'it won't ge that wet inside'. It does. And, water and polyester inside the tent doesn't dry out that quickly. 2 - the design of the tent means the poles catch far too easily in their sleeves. After one of the poles split on night two this caused a rip in one of the sleeves. By the end of the 3 weeks all poles had splits in them. Added to the fact that the corner eyelets for the tent pegs ripped off as well it meant it wasn't possible to fully stretch out the tent. 3 - its colour. Not something I thought about when buying it originally but, the colour of the tent lets a lot of light in. Thus, if you're a light sleeper a darker colour tend may be more appropriate.
The two positives about this tent are: 1 - it's design. It's design lends itself very well to windy conditions. It is a sturdy tent in windy conditions so can't fault it there. 2 - it's size. For two people on an offroad adventure it was great. Given the miserable weather we had we often used the tent to give us some shelter to cook in. Not advisable I know but you can't cook in the pouring rain.
This is a great tent if you intend to erect it once and leave it standing for your weeks holiday during the summer. It's not an appropriate tent if you're erecting it/taking it down on a semi regular/daily basis in all kinds of weather if you're touring. So given our experience and kind of holiday's we enjoy I could only rate it 5/10

We have used our tent many times and like everyone else, we love it! We find it really easy to put up and to pack away. The inside is very spacious and the bedroom area can take two double airbeds and a single. Two doors make it very easy if you find that you end up on an awkward pitch. The only wee problem we have is that the middle piece you zip your bedroom doors up on seems to be very flimsy. Other than this (which really is nothing at all) we would advise anyone looking at this tent to BUY IT!

We purchased this tent last year from outdoor World Bootle; It came highly recommended by there staff as a larger replacement for our old tent.
My wife and I used it on the Brittany coast in late August. The Napoli 500 stood up to everything that the weather through at it. We had high wind and heavy rain. And we did see the sun from time to time.
I am glad that we chose this tent. We have standing room throughout, room to move around the table in the living area and for the first time we were able to get changed in the sleeping area standing up.

Being just myself and my 10yr old daughter we found it so easy to put up. The only thing that I think it would benefit from, is some tent companies are now making porches to fit on many of their existing tents. This would give a little more space for cooking in bad weather. I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this tent from Gooutdoors in their sale for £99.00 in 2006.
I have had 3 holidays in it, one to France when it rained for almost 2 weeks one in Cornwall and one in the Lakes last October cold and windy.
The tent has been great, never leaked and stood up to very windy conditions.
Easily errected by 2 adults in about 1/2 hour. The inner tent is the full size of the outer complete with full size SIG, so you get a very large and useful draught free, dry and bug proof sleeping and living area.
My only complaint, it is an inner tent up first design which I find means the outer is not always stretched and looking its best.
For the price I would recommend it.

We used our Napoli 500 for 3 camping trips last year and I can't fault it really! Our group consists of 2 children aged 7 and 4 a dog and 2 adults and compared with our previous tents this one proved very comfortable. Good price and stood up to some very wet and windy weather. It's quick and straight forward to assemble, the only problem was that a couple of the ring and pins bent so we'll need to get replacements for them, but this was the only problem we found. The integral ground sheet was great for keeping out the beasties too. Overall I am very happy with this tent and will use it again, hopefully lots, this year.
