5 Reviews of the Buckingham 8 Elite
By: Marshyson Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2017 Rating:
Brought in the sale for £200, very good tent, really well equipped. Good ventilation points, high & low level, which I closed at night to keep warm, no condensation problems at all. Also has Mesh doors front and back, a lot of tents only give one mesh door. King poles also included, you have to buy them separately with a lot of tents. Either 2 x big bedrooms or 4 smaller bedrooms when you add the curtain dividers, and they are lights out bedrooms, which means darker fabric. Good value tent, very flexible, really pleased with my purchase. Would definitely recommend this tent.

My tent is the Buckingham 6 Elite, purchased as a lightweight alternative my Outwell Montana. The Buckingham is generally pretty good but (and it’s a big but) I’ve experienced problems with the fibreglass poles. The tent has been used for no more than 10 days, all in benign conditions. One pole split on our 2nd outing, two more split on our 3rd/last outing (a windless 4 days in the Dordogne). If it had been subjected to anything like bad weather I suspect we would have ended up in a hotel.
The retailer, Blacks, refuse to recognise the problem as theirs. I could replace all the poles with 13mm one, maybe that’s what’s needed to bring the tent up to scratch, but I think that will cost about £120. Disappointed.

Just returned home from using the Buckingham 8 Elite tent and porch for the first time. Easy to pitch. The tent itself was up and guided out within 30mins. Lovely and big for the 5 of us plus a small dog. We seemed to have all weather thrown at us over our few nights away. This tent preformed outstandingly when it came to hard driving rain. Not a single drop entered. This was a first for us as previous tents have severely let us down when it just came to a light shower so this was a proper treat. Now we had extreme weather and the wind was something else. In fact it was nothing short of petrifying. We ended up abandoning the tent in the middle of the night as we feared for our safety. HOWEVER on our return in the morning the tent was just fine. The side guide lines were out but both ends were still firmly in place. Now just to mention the campsite we were at was on a moor so not a standard site so windy extremes were the norm which we didn't realise when booking.
The size of this tent is amazing. When we took the porch down ( because of the wind) we had everything in the main tent and it still wasn't cramped. Plenty of room for my youngest to play with his cars on the floor and the older 2 to play with board game as well.
The Windows made it very comfortable whilst sitting inside very light.
The dividers in the bedroom pods are just fixed in by toggles so to some may feel flimsy however this worked for us as we just removed them to enjoy larger pods.
Overall a very well made simple to use/pitch tent. I highly recommend this tent.
Plus it makes your day when you hear passersby commenting saying things like. Now that what you call a tent, that tent is massive etc.

I decided to bite the bullet and invest some money into taking the family camping. A big part of that was the tent and I wanted one that would comfortably accommodate my fiance, 2 children (6 and 10 yrs) and myself.
After reading a few reviews I decided to purchase this tent and the porch, great decision at £211 on Millets website.
The bedrooms are perfect for the kids to have a double blow up bed each with us at the other end with a double self-inflating mat.
The main centre area has more than enough space for a table and a few chairs as well as being high enough that none of us need to duck down while walking around, I'm 5'10 and had plenty of headroom.
There are several vents around the tent which allowed plenty of fresh air to circulate, reducing condensation and making it not feel stuffy.
I could not recommend this tent more, it is perfect for us as a family of 4 and I feel that as long as we take care of it, it will serve us well for many years of camping.

This is our first family tent and we're really impressed. It's really easy to put up and feels well put together. We thought it was really good value for money at £299 (Millets). Paired with the optional porch (£99) it really is very spacious. My only issue with it is the bedroom dividers are just toggled in place rather than fully zipped in - but I guess that's a feature for more expensive tents.
We've camped out in very heavy rain with no leaks, the ventilation panels help keep the condensation to a minimum too which is great.
Overall we're really pleased with it.
